I told them to come back the next day with proper tools to do the job. The next day they brought a bin with them but it was too large for the elevator. Back to the shop in Coquitlam for a smaller bin. Even with all of the inconvenience to me, they still charged full price of over $600. The guys were polite and all, but this company has to provide them with the tools to do the job efficiently.

They did not want to offer any quote prior to coming over for the appointment because they said, they have to see exactly the quantity of the items. Unfortunately, my family agreed. When they got there (I was there), they quoted that a full load on a 15footer truck is Can$597.00 and for the garbage, it is only a third of the full price. We immediately thought it was very steep since it only cost us Can$450 on the regular mover who did an excellent job. Since we were running out of time, we agreed to it. They said that the furnitures have to be done first so they can donate them to Goodwill. After being gone for about one hour, they came back with the same load saying they cannot donate to goodwill. BTW, the furnitures were in excellent condition and I have pictures to prove it. Now, because they came back, they want the same furniture load counted as a separate load making the total cost for disposal of both the furnitures and some other junk to Can$1,393.00. Ridiculous, right? We were getting ready to just have them unload the furnitures from their truck and do them ourselves. Finally, they agreed to Can$820.00. When we phoned, we got a real human who was decent, knowledgeable and helpful. The cost of their largest container was 1/5 the monthly rent at the storage facility even though it held the same amount of stuff. Our container was promptly delivered. I was clean with a dark wood laminate floor. We had the option of keeping it in our yard or having it carted away to be stored in their yard in the lower mainland, where we could request it be made available on fairly short notice. We chose to keep in our yard. In either case, you use your own lock. We used it for 5 years. It kept everything clean, bug-free and rodent-free (We have a lot of rats in Steveston.) The mice had been into the storage facility we used earlier, making a bit of a mess. (Also, rodent urine and droppings, once dry can put bacteria humans can catch into the air, so best avoided.) When it came time to empty the container, a quick call to an equally pleasant Big Steel Box representative meant it was picked up when we wanted it gone. Since you pay for delivery and pick-up when you first order it, there were absolutely no added costs. An ethical company that does what it says it will. Highly recommend for moving, short term or long term storage. To me, if you don't need fast, regular access to your goods, having them store your container is a great alternative to a storage facility. Would definitely use them again.

Container was delivered without me present & placed facing the wrong direction. I have spent three weeks trying to get this moved (during which I can't use the container) as I can't properly access the doors to load directly to/from a vehicle. Big Steel Box has refused to be accountable & will only turn the container 90degrees if I pay them another $120 delivery fee to fix their mistake. I WOULD NEVER recommend Big Steel Box.

Dean called me back promptly and quoted a great price. I was calling last minute and needed my furniture gone ASAP. Dean was able to detour one of his crews and they were at my door in about 10 mins. Super unprofessional "company" and use that word lightly…read more Incorrectly quoted the cost several times, did services that weren't discussed and then asked for additional money, were late, lost my booking and tried to rebook me for a later date despite being booked a month in advance after making me wait 40 mins and had already said they were almost there, barely cleaned the walls or windows, baseboards untouched, floor had mop strings all over it and had puddle streaks everywhere. Walk-out inspection was failed and property manager threatened to deduct money from the security deposit at how bad this cleaning was. Balcony was completely untouched and so was the garage. Needed to book a touch up and again they were extremely late and the owner didn't even arrive as she said she would, sent someone else and then blamed it on traffic. Carpet cleaning was good which surprisingly was the cheaper part. $320 for subpar cleaning by unprofessional and hours of time wasting going back and forth to let people in who were not respectful of our time was not worth it. Book here with caution, they do not provide the caliber of services they advertise. Edited to add: after posting this review while waiting for the cleaners almost 30 mins to show up for the touch up, the owner saw my review and told the cleaner to leave my house mid-clean because she no longer wanted to do my touch up! Absolutely wild, said my review was completely false despite photos and text evidence and said she didn't feel comfortable being in my house (even though I wasn't even there). So despite their guarantee to receive your security deposit back, I now have to either clean up their mess myself or forfeit money from my security deposit.
