Horsting's is one of those rare places you just can't drive past without stopping. Fortunately, we stopped during the early part of the season - not nearly as chaotic-busy as it usually is. And, you can't stop there without buying at LEAST three kinds of their signature fruit pies. My "go to's" are (of course) apple, blueberry and strawberry-rhubarb. Sinfully delicious; every one of them. During the Holidays, the pumpkin pies literally fly off the massive counters, so get 'em when you can. Their pillowy-soft loaves of fresh-baked bread are also a mandatory thing. Sourdough or cinnamon-raisin are my favorites. We also picked up a couple of their great deli sandwiches; made with ingredients from their gardens and bakery. I chose the Country Club, which is a grilled turkey, bacon and Swiss cheese on potato bread. Outstanding! The bread is thick-cut and buttery, crispy. They don't shirk on the ingredients. Plenty of meat-and-cheese-to-bread going on. However, make sure and clear up some mad cash because prices are a bit premium. I stopped here for lunch on my way back to Vancouver. The market had a nice selection of produce, pies, fudge, and even differently flavoured honey! Outside the market there was a nicely decorated hay maze to keep kids entertained. Here's what I ordered: 1. Pumpkin soup: Flavour was rich and the spice hits you right away. You can tell it's made from real pumpkins from the small chunks. I would definitely order this again. 2. Apple pie: I didn't love the pie because I thought the pie crust was a little thin compared to the fillings. The fillings was very sweet so it needed more crust to balance out the flavour. read more

It's a little out of town, but it's a real farm, so farm to table is literal! The soup was a generous portion of classic split pea and ham soup, perfectly seasoned. We also had a roast beef sandwich on their home made bread. The highlight was the enormous cinnamon roll, which seems to come out of the oven every hour or so. It was huge, but not overly sweet, for the genre... Just perfect. The place is warm and friendly, but be sure to allow for a little more time than normal, just to wander around the farm. read more

Everything a sandwich should be! You get to choose your bread (which they bake fresh); meat; cheese; veggies etc. you get a form and circle what you like. There are seats inside and a big covered deck outside that has a lovely view. Then they bring it out to you and call your name. They bake pies that look tasty. Also they have ice cream. This place is such a gem. The bakery has the best pie. You can buy one slice to enjoy among the beautiful scenery or enjoy it with some ice cream. There is a small cafe, fresh produce and plants for sale as well. It is always a welcomed stop on a long road trip. The staff is friendly and helpful. But, the food is the best! The trip from Prince George to Vancouver can be daunting and this place is a more then welcome break. It is definitely kid friendly but can get extremely busy on weekends with a lot of travelers. Be prepared to park in the over flow parking and have wait times. Then have local beef jerky and snacks for the road and you can get pies frozen to take home and share another day, or to enjoy all to yourself! The small market offers farm fresh produce. read more

Once again well worth the stop in for lunch on our long day drive from Vancouver to Prince George. We bought fresh mini melons, homemade jams, buns, cake, and sandwiches; not one item was less than perfect. Love love the assortment of rustic home decor items available for sale. Barn stars everywhere!!! We could not find any disabled parking spots or an accessible washroom which always makes things a lot easier for our family. read more

We were on a road trip and found this place by chance. The signage to the farm was pretty obvious from the highway but was confused on whether to try it out or not and didn't know if they served packed up sandwiches as you see in most convenience store. After driving for almost a kilometre towards Kamloops we decided to give it a try, so we turned around hoping to have some thing. It was a country farm with lots of livestock gracing freely. We drove inside and there was this olden style bridge and farms on both side and a pretty decent size stream flowing underneath the bridge. Oh man we just loved the ambiance of the place nestled in a farmland almost 300 meters away from the highway. We parked our car and wandered thru the place to see what they had in stock. All fresh veggies, fruits, plants, garden accessories, soil, manure and some antique collection and in the middle of it all a restaurant. Few ladies were serving the guest with few helping out in the kitchen and it felt unique. We waited for some one to seat us, but one of the lady approached us and asked us how she could be of help. She then took us to the table where there was a bunch of printed papers with their menu on it. There was a bunch of pencils too to mark out exactly what we need (that was our first experience of such kind) we loved the way they take the order. We filled out 4 sheets for the 4 of us and exactly the way we want it. The sandwich was priced at 6.99 and felt it was a pretty good deal. After ordering we went and sat down in the open courtyard (Patio / Deck) with wooden tables and facing the farmland, it was just awesome. The best part is when we got the food served, the sandwich was huge and absolutely one of the best we have had and exactly as what we have ordered in writing. To say the least anyone who reads this and is travelling in that area please try it out, you will not regret it. Those ladies have done an amazing job and the place was so neat and tidy. Amazing spot to stop for lunch and to grab some fresh produce! Best soup and sandwich around, hands down. Everything is fresh and made/grown in house and the staff were more than friendly and helpful. The outdoor eating area is covered for an escape from the summer heat and gives you a true orchard experience. Gets very busy at lunchtime so plan for that ahead of time. I recommend the herb bread for your sandwich and add a fresh cinnamon bun or slice of pie! You won't be disappointed. read more
