When I had my last baby, I cried because I knew it would mean I'd see much less of her. I had a miscarriage with my first baby. My former OB brushed it off. I was unable to conceive after that loss, so I went to Dr. Faircloth. After no more than five minutes into my first appointment with her, she recognized warning signs and sent me for a lupus test. Turns out, she was right. And that's likely what caused my miscarriage. Dr. Faircloth isn't a rheumatologist, but she still recognized warning signs and got me help. Because of this, I was able to go on to have two healthy babies. Dr. Faircloth is SMART, kind, and the type of person you want caring for you. I feel so fortunate to have found her when I did.

When I had my first child, Dr. Horvath happened to be unavailable and Dr. Johnson stepped in and delivered my doctor. He also made me feel immediately comfortable and safe. The day after my daughter was born I was pleasantly surprised when the door to my postpartum room opened and Dr. Horvath came in to check on me and see my baby. She stayed and chatted with me. She is also a skilled surgeon, having performed a minor surgery on me and she also recommended me to a highly skilled plastic surgeon for my breast reduction. Robin also spoke as a panelist on a law school/medical school panel about reproductive justice that I moderated, and was a wonderfully informed contributor on a local and national scale. Also, we were able to get the care we needed for our daughter to get better without the use of antibiotics, which was a real blessing for her little body! My only complaint is that the dr. we saw didn't really explain things very well to us. She didn't really tell us what each treatment did or educate us. I had my first appt with Dr. Faircloth to get a birth control refill as I switched insurance due to…read morea job change. My new insurance provider did not cover my particular type of BC on their list of preventatives (which per the Affordable Care Act, preventatives are covered without copayment), but Dr. Faircloth ensured me that she would get it figured out as I told her other BCs gave me problems. They submitted the scrip to my pharmacy who said it was being charged at $25. I called my insurance who said my doctor needed to file an appeal that it was for preventative purposes vs for treatment of other medical issues, and it would be covered at no cost. I let Dr. Faircloth's office know that, but I received a call from her nurse saying that they said they would only get it covered, and it's not their problem that it's not being filled as a preventative and they can't do anything (other than suggesting that I switch health insurance providers??? Which thanks for the great suggestion, my employer only gave me one option). So my option is find some doctor who is willing to put in the legwork or pay $300/yr to not get pregnant.
