It seems that the buses cannot park right by the hotel. If you wanted to walk into town, you had to go back out and walk another 10 minutes, and it was a bit confusing as to which way was town center. We gave up after going into several streets and decided it wasn't worth it at that hour. We had a buffet dinner tonight at the hotel and the food was decent. Hotel had popcorn near Reception area. No water heater for coffee/tea, no body lotion, I'm almost 6' tall and had to stretch to reach the hangers in the hallway closet! Room was spacious. Nice views from room Staff was courteous and accommodating.

So, first a little history. The convent was built in 1182. The walls of the Convento de São Paulo are made up by 54 thousand tiles, and is the largest private collection in the country. I later found out that our room is not in the main building but in an annex about 500m away. It was spacious, with a living room, a bedroom and an equally spacious bathroom that is all lined with marble (marble being quarried locally). Outside the room are orange trees, and looking down we can see sheep grazing on the land. The wifi is good throughout the property. Breakfast is included and quite a nice spread. Definitely take time to tour the historic part of the building, to see the old chapel and the fountain. There's also a walking trail around the property. The hotel is truly in the middle of nowhere. They have a restaurant onsite, but you need to let them know ahead of time if you plan to eat there. There's two restaurants about 2km away in a tiny village, and beyond that, you will need to visit either Redondo (10km) or Estremoz (17km) away. We usually do an early dinner and shop for whatever we need before head back to the hotel. We did enjoy our stay, but just want to set up the expectation that you won't be living in a city or near the many conveniences you expect from a city.

The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. There is a lovely view from the rooftop pool area of the walled city. Parking on site was easy to find and convenient. My husband had left his electric adapters at home and the hotel lent us a set and then directed us to a nearby store where my husband was able to make a purchase. The staff were all very helpful and attentive to our needs.

There is a coffee machine but no tea or kettle, one bottle of drinking water. High ceilings so at least the room didn't feel as oppressive as it's dark with not much lighting. Location is good, walkable to center. Breakfast adequate with standard continental.
