Its a Michelin-noted, white tablecloth place with impeccable but cordial service, and a great menu. It's also very popular with locals, many of whom were in evidence, ordering their "usual" dishes. The portions are decently generous, and one of ours came with unexpected bonuses. The quality of the food was always high, and the execution ranged from "good" to "very good". Unfortunately their signature farfalle dish was the one that impressed the least; other dishes we had were more characterful. Together with it they served 3 great sweet sauces to the cheese. It was a great variety of so many different tastes!!!! My friend had a awesome t-bone steak and a choice of salt (smoked, sea-salt, black salt flakes). I had the best veal filet experience for me in my life. The filet was with chocolate sauce from valrona. Chocolate lovers will know it!!! Sure the house wine was also good and fit perfectly to the food. You go there for the food, which is absolutely amazing. The owners are fishermen and as true fishermen, they only serve what they fish daily. And for bonus, they have a cook who knows how to properly prepare all that sea food. It's fresh, it melts in your mouth, it's to die for - and even if you don't like fish, you will love this fish! Tip: Don't be a tourist and ask for the menu. Just say you'll take the appetizers. You will see the waiter come regularly to your table with small plates of everything. Best way to have a taste of about 15 different seasonal sea dishes, warm and cold. And if you're still hungry after that, try some pasta - absolutely delicious. And if you're still hungry after, have some grilled shrimps or calamari. And if you're still hungry after that, I'm sure you can have some dessert, though we didn't make it that far... Fast, pristine, and satisfying small plate servings in rapid fire succession by a multitude of…read moreearnest staff marked my visit to "Lo Scoiattolo" - The Squirrel - which is actually attached to a boutique hotel. We had a four course meal starting with the tenderest, leanest prosciutto I have ever had, it was three inches wide without any white. This was served with bufala mozzarella, arugula leaves, pickled carrot tepees, cherry tomatos, and a cheese plate. All came on serving plates that we passed around. Appetizer round two: we received clean plates and a parade of wait staff dumped into them the following: a stuffed artichoke, a hot zucchini salad, scalloped potatoes baked in alternate layers with dough, spinach, and a zesty Spam-like paté, and broccoli rabe with white kidney beans. The artichoke was the low point. The stuffing was tamped in too hard, rolled out of the 'choke like a ball, and tasted wooden. The locals ate the outer leaves like Pandas. For the entree we had spaghetti with a ragu sauce, and ravioli in same. If I remember both on my deathbed, Italian food will be well represented in my final thoughts. The spaghetti looked normal, but on close inspection was square - alla guitara. The meatballs were smaller than my thumbnail but plentiful. The ravioli was semi-circular and supposedly filled with a bufala mozzarella. I can't vouch for that but it rocked. "Mille Foglia" cake came next: a perfect blend of crunchy, flaky, dough with crushed strawberries and home made whipping cream. I was full - "sono sazio" - but I wolfed down this confection to raised eyebrows from other tables. Done. But wait there's more. A fruit tray came out, coffee in a shot glass - that's how they do - and an elegant aperitif they called a bitter. It was. Supposedly it helps the digestion but I immediately ordered a box of Nexium from my heartburn app. Seriously, I asked the manager what it was so as to avoid it in the future and (I guess he was excited to have an American in his joint) he totally misunderstood me and gave me a bottle. I took it. It may be helpful if our carburetor gums up. All in all it was superb general Italian fare, they bake their own cakes and make their own spaghetti. They are most certainly not representative of the Pescara region. Restaurants in Rome have this same menu. But when not in Rome.... Next time I'll complain about the Glenfiddich.

The staff is so warm and friendly - they genuinely want you to have one of the best meals of your life (which they deliver). We don't speak much Italian, and the menu being mostly in Italian we just asked the wonderful server Luciano to pick for us. We got a hot and cold antipasto - both were delicious and ideal for sharing in individual cups for serving. Then the pasta! Perfect proportions, truffle and ham or prosciutto and mushroom with Parmesan cheese. Perfectly cooked, some of the best pasta I've ever had outside of my Italian boyfriend's mother's kitchen. Finally the meat - Kobe beef from Milan, served on a hot Himalayan salt rock so you could have it at the perfect level of done to your liking. Lastly, the chef came out and presented us with a surprise dessert - probably the best dessert I've ever had anywhere. The entire meal was perfection. Italiano, Americano, whoever - worth the drive over from Rome or wherever you are. Skip one of the many pizzerias or subpar seafood places Pescara has to offer and get a REAL meal served with love and art. Not a meal we will soon forget. Thank you to Luciano and the chef!

La migliore mugnaia che ci sia…read more Ogni volta che si viene qua, sai che ti mangi qualcosa di buono, ma sopratutto se ordini la mugnaia. Con un bel antipasto della casa, un po' di mugnaia, e una bottiglietta di Montepulciano loro, avrai una cena ottima tipica della zona. Pizza, arrosticini, ravioli. C'è un po' di tutto per se hai voglia di sgarrare.
