We've been customers of Hot Wax for years now and feel 100% confident in recommending them for your event, regardless if it's personal or professional. I can't say enough about this fantastic DJ service, WOW. They hit the nail on the head! Our guest loved their playlist, we gave them a recommended playlist to 'play' with, since the 80's and 90's music was a large part of our lives - and they flew with it and made it a fantastic night. Very polite, super friendly and they even brought glow sticks for the guests, great touch and unexpected! I sent Hot Wax an email through their website and within two hours I had Elliott calling me on the phone to talk about my wedding music needs. Within five hours of that phone call, that same day, I had a quote for the DJ service. Before I signed on the dotted line, I asked around to see what kind of experience other people had with Hot Wax. I also read all the valuable reviews online. I was floored, the results were unanimous, Hot Wax was excellent and Elliott is terrific to work with. I was sold on the level of customer service alone; the awesome music was just a bonus at this point. I have very specific music tastes and Hot Wax was more than happy to accommodate me. I had DJ Anton come up to my Whistler wedding and he did such a fabulous job. Even with my incredibly specific instructions for music choice, and complicated requests for the ceremony (the ceremony processional song had to begin part way through the song to achieve the effect I wanted), Anton pulled it off without a hitch. He played all the music we requested and added in so many great songs I never would have thought to choose. Anton's choices were huge crowd pleasers! You can tell he knows how to keep a party rockin' because my guests of all ages were dancing the entire time. My advice, don't waste your time looking for another DJ, Hot Wax is the best for a reason. The epic dance party you get and the professional customer service is worth every penny! read more

Great prices Great staff Great music Great job!! I was lucky enough to have hot wax recommended to me by our venue. They were so fun and very enjoyable to deal with. Our dj was Mike and he was nice enough to even mc the wedding...even though I gave him 3 days notice haha but he did a great job and I really appreciated it. We had a big varietie of songs we wanted played and they played them all... ones they didn't have they bought and made sure they had it for the day of my wedding. Most of the vendors in preparation for our wedding were a pleasure to deal with. Hot Wax, unfortunately, was not. Luckily, our event went really well and we cannot complain about the music, but dealing with Ozzie and Elliott was difficult and just not enjoyable. We had paid extra money to hire an MC in addition to the DJ, which Elliott and Ozzie said was a service they provide frequently. Just after the deadline for any cancellations or amendments to the contract, Elliott contacted us asking what exactly are we expecting from the MC. We said that we wanted him to conduct games, announce speeches, basically host the evening. We had expected that the MC would know the best order to conduct the wedding in and we would follow his cues. To my surprise, Elliott said that's not at all the kind of thing they do, even though we were pretty clear on our expectations when we signed the contract. He said that we needed to provide a detailed schedule with point-by-point instructions for the MC, putting all the work on us. Just a few days before the wedding Elliott called again saying that he doesn't think we even need an MC and that only the DJ would be sufficient for us. We told Elliott that we needed the MC for a portion of our cocktail hour. The MC was not present at the cocktail hour at all. In fact, Elliott did send two people, but when we asked them which one was the MC and which one was the DJ, one of them said that he was doing both. The other one was a young boy who did nothing all night and left early; he seemed to have been there just for a checkmark. The DJ himself was lively and fun. He did a good job playing the songs; however, it seemed that he was completely unprepared. We suspect that it was through no fault of his own, that Elliott and Ozzie failed to communicate our needs to him. He had never seen the request list before and, as a result, didn't play many of the requests. When discussing the music for the night with Elliott, we said that we wanted some Russian music. We said we would provide the songs, but that we didn't want them played on their own, that it would be great if they could be remixed with English songs. Ozzie assured us that that's exactly the kind of thing they do; however, come wedding day the DJ wasn't even aware of any Russian songs that needed to be played and was not able to mix them on the fly. When we tried to communicate to Elliott our feedback after the wedding, he somehow managed to interpret all our constructive criticism as compliments. He then suggested that we give Hot Wax a high rating and even tried to suggest the kind of phrases we should use in our feedback. As a whole, we felt like we weren't being listened to. If we were planning a wedding all over again, we would not hire Hot Wax., as they just do not seem to take their clients seriously. read more

This is the second time that I have used Hot Wax as my party entertainment and I cannot say enough good things about them! First time was for a wedding reception in 2014 and last weekend we had them come out to a grad/90th birthday celebration that included 4 generations. Hot Wax Entertainment was suggested to us by our Venue for their DJ Services; we booked them because the reviews were good and the venue said they had been there lots of times and did the job well. Well, everything went well to start, Elliot answered phone calls promptly, was always available to receive the deposits... but uh oh... once sh!t started to hit the fan, he was nowhere to be found. On my wedding day, we had a wind storm that caused a power outage to almost 600,000 residents, so our Venue cut our wedding short by about 5 hours. We had no lights, mic, hot water... no electricity, means no DJ. We let Eliot know what was happening as soon as we found out, in which in the midst of all this chaos, he informs me, "well, because I'm ready to provide my services, I've done my job". I called him the next day about my money that I gave him for the services that weren't provided, I told him that his non-refundable deposit was his to keep ($250), but the balance ($400) should be refunded. He told me "it's so little money, that it shouldn't matter to you and in the whole grand scheme of things..." Which really wasn't the point. He left it off saying he'd get back to me the next day after he talked to other vendors... And that was the last I heard of him... I tried calling, I emailed him, I asked my venue to let him know I was looking for him... na da. Didn't bother getting back to me, just gave me more headaches and problems. After a week of no response, my groom phoned and emailed him and we ended up getting back $150 out of our original $650 payment. Seeing as I haven't actually gotten any tangible services from him, but have paid him for his 'customer service' that's all I can review him on... and it's a big fat zero. read more

From the beginning we could tell that these guys knew what they were doing. They had all the songs we wanted, and were very easy to work with. After speaking with them multiple times, it was clear that they really do care about what they do, and that they want to make your night the best. The dance floor was literally filled the entire night of our wedding. Not only was the music great, but the photo booth was a huge hit, and the lighting was perfect.
