So this is probably more a 3.5 star experience... but... well... bonus half for everyone being so dang lovely.
Hot Yoga Life are quite the hidden studio. They happen to have set up shop in a tiny room in the top floor of the Meridian Hotel. Now when I say tiny, I'm talking *smaller than my living room* tiny. The studio apparently has a capacity of 29 uber sweaty bodies but when it is this busy (and it quite often is) your mats are 20cm apart. Luckily the staff are well used to this and so are good at keeping people within the confines of their mat. So, whilst initially the room feels sooo squishy, it rarely becomes an issue.
Given the huge popularity of the classes (which may or may not have something to do with their online group coupon site bargain campaign), one of the best things about Hot Yoga Life is the online booking system. When you first attend they set you up and give you a little member disk. Once you are a member you can book and pay online. You can also book recurring visits and if you need to cancel a class you won't be charged if you give at least an hour's notice. Which I think is pretty decent.
As for the classes, I've been to three so far and I thoroughly enjoyed them (well as much as you can for doing exercise in a heated room as opposed to sitting on the couch with a stack of Milk Arrowroots and an Earl Grey whilst watching The Bachelor). The thing that makes the difference for me here is the instructors. They are super lovely, which is sadly not what I expected of a Hot Yoga Studio (maybe I'm just a judgy biatch?). Actually the customers are overall pretty dang nice too. It is a shame that they don't have shower facilities as that would be handy for the sweaty betties that walk out at the end of class and would defs make it a full 4 star experience, but oh well... you can't win em all. read more
