My stay at the Marriott in Westmount ended in me having 7 stitches in my foot and 8 stitches and a damaged tendon in my hand, requiring surgery due to a faulty shower door installation. The shower door slid off of the rails and slid right into the bathroom wall, exploding into pieces. The hotel staff responded to the emergency by bringing me a box of band-aids and a half used bottle of antiseptic. After calling 911 ourselves and spending a sleepless night at the hospital - I was then aggressively questioned by a member of the hotel management staff. The Marriott has since not compensated me anything. Their insurance company has been refusing to discuss anything with me and I am being forced to pay numerous legal fees, which I currently cannot afford. Please avoid this hotel.

My husband and I stayed here during one of our trips to Montreal. It's an older hotel that's obviously dated, but they are making updates (1 elevator has been updated, the other is painfully slow and the door opens before you are actually on the correct floor, eeks). They make up for it in congenial service and a breakfast buffet with more selections than I've ever seen at a FREE breakfast buffet. Since it's a Residence Inn, all the rooms are suites with a full kitchen (apartment-sized fridge, dishwasher, microwave, toaster, and stove top (no oven, but I never bake a cake or make a roast when I'm on vacation, so I didn't care, haha). There's a little dining table for 2 as well (so cute). Now those who know me know I bring Clorox wipes with me when I travel and I wipe down my hotel room when I arrive. If the wipe is still white, I am happy. Some wipes came out white, but some were light grey (mostly the ones in the bathroom). So not filthy, but not as clean as I would have liked. I also noticed some paint peeling in the bathroom and some stained spots on the carpet. That being said, the staff were so nice and service was great. Now, don't be expecting white gloved door men opening doors for you and pressing elevator buttons for you, I don't mean great service in that way, I mean in a more congenial kind of way. For example, a few minutes after we arrived in our room, the front desk called and asked if our room was ok. We noticed that the lamp next to the TV wasn't working, so we told them that and they sent someone to come up and fix it right away. Shortly after they called again to confirm that the problem was fixed. I thought this was really nice. Housekeeping staff were also very nice. They greeted us and wished us a good day every time we saw them. They also have free food on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday nights around 7pm. We only got to experience this on one evening (due to the length of our stay, and let's face it, if I'm in Montreal on vacation, I'm probably going to be out and about at 7pm, LOL). Anyway, it was dessert night that night. There was raspberry sponge cake, vanilla ice cream, and ingredients to make a sundae (shredded coconut, walnuts, chocolate chips, chocolate syrup and caramel syrup) and coffee and tea It was a nice unexpected extra. The free hot breakfast buffet was huge and with so much selection. There's a centre island, and they have the same thing on both sides of the island, so less lining up for food. They had 2 selections of eggs (that change daily). One day it was plain scrambled eggs and scrambled eggs with bell peppers and onions, the next day it was regular scrambled eggs and scrambled egg whites. Then they have 3 hot items. One day it was bacon, turkey sausage and home fries, and the next day it was spicy Andouille sausage, chicken sausage and baked beans. They had a fajita station for you to make your own breakfast fajitas complete with tortillas, shredded cheese, spinach, black olives, shredded cheese, and salsa. They had boiled eggs, sliced cheese (and not cheapy processed cheese, but Brie and Havarti!), 2 types of fruit salad, different types of yogurt, granola, 4 waffle makers, and toppings for your waffles (whipped cream, chocolate chips, shredded coconut, walnuts, and chocolate and caramel syrup). They had croissants (plain and chocolate), muffins, banana bread, bagels, English muffins, brown and white bread. Get this, they had hazelnut, vanilla and caramel flavoured syrup for your coffee! I am certain I've left out other stuff they had, but seriously it was the most selection I have ever seen at a FREE breakfast buffet. The rooms were a good size. The fitness centre is on the top level (penthouse) and the view out the windows is pretty. They had mostly cardio machines (treadmills, ellipticals and stationary bikes. They had minimal free weights, but they had a weight machine. The gym was clean and looked relatively new (although the weight machine was kind of old/dated). There was a pool on the penthouse too (we did not use it). Location is a bit further west of the downtown action. Although it has "Westmount" in its name, it's not really in Westmount. I'd say it's in Shaughnessy Village. It's really close to Place Alexis Nihon (shopping centre) and the Middle-Eastern grocery store Adonis (they have amazing pastries). It's also close to Supermarché PA (which has really inexpensive groceries). Overall, an older/dated hotel. We paid with taxes and fees $165 a night (booked directly with the hotel). Service was great and lots of selection in the free breakfast buffet. WiFi was free and fast.

I would probably give this hotel a 2.5 if I could. It's not horrendous by any means. Serviceable is a good word to describe it. The elevator is slow, the breakfast is simple and hectic at times, and the rooms are decent. My room had a kitchenette, a small balcony, two beds, full bath, and a small family room area. My main complaint is the breakfast. Maybe its just because I am used to the breakfast at Embassy Suites, but I definitely felt like this breakfast was just subpar. They have a very simple set up with some coffee, juice, fruit, and bagels with toasters on one part of the room. The middle part of the room is devoted to hot food, such as eggs, pancakes, or little egg and sausage burritos. Ultimately, I can handle the food being just ok, but its the size of the room given the hotel size. There must be something like 20 floors in this building, with 15-20 rooms on each floor, and the breakfast room maybe handles 100 people, at best? Its just too crazy, and I think most guests probably skip the breakfast altogether. Now, they do have an afternoon snack time that is nice, with simple water, lemonade, and cookies and such. It provides you with a nice respite after a long day exploring the beautiful city. Everything else about the hotel was just ok. Parking is located off-site, which is a drag, but the staff are friendly, the beds are clean, and the hotel is generally well-kept.

The staff love their job! The lady in the buffet is very attending to the guests and offers coffee with a big smile. The breakfast items are fresh and delicious. The hotel room has a kitchen equipped with dishwasher, microwave and fridge. The only concern I have is the towels. The first set of towel I got had a stain that was not completely removed from the previous wash. The wifi is also fast enough for Netflix watching. If you drive an SUV you can't park in their garage, since their parking ceiling is too low!!! So be aware.

Breakfast buffet. Continental plus eggs, waffle maker, potatoes.

The only downside was the noise. There were very loud neighbours in the hallway with screaming and music playing until around 11:30 pm. I contacted the front desk and was told security would be sent up, but no one came and the noise continued past midnight. Overall, a solid hotel with great amenities, but the lack of follow through on the noise issue was disappointing.

The staff was very friendly and welcoming, explained everything in details, where things were located, how to use the in/out parking, etc. The room I got was spacious and even the bathroom was large. The view was ok, only saw other tall buildings :) It had a large balcony, which would been awesome if I came in the summer. The only complaint that I had about the hotel was their elevator, never been to a hotel where you had to wait in line to use one lol.... They also have a nice fitness center, with large pool and yes, they even have a squash/racquetball court!! Overall, enjoyed my stay here and definitely would stay here again in the future.

You can take the 747 bus directly from the airport to this hotel, but it's t will take around 40 ish mins or so. If you decide to rent a car, parking is at this hotel $30 CAD a day to keep your car parked. When purchasing your metro tickets from the airport, there is a machine that you will purchase it from. Just get the non-rechargeable ticket for 24 hours for $11 CAD. It will NOT take American Credit Cards or American money. It has to be a Canadian Credit Card or HAVE Canadian cash. I can say that this hotel is conveniently located on the edge of Quartier Des Spectacles, just a couple of blocks from The Gay Village & about 3 blocks from Chinatown. It's a walking distance between both and areas. It's only two or three blocks from the Orange Line, Yellow Line, and Green Line of the metro. The rooms are kind of small, but great if all you're doing is just sleeping there. There is so to do in the area. Downfalls are: there is no coin laundry. However, there is a plastic bag in your closet that you can put your dirty laundry in. Take it downstairs to the front desk and pay them $20 CAD for them to do your laundry. Your cloths will be ready the next day in the afternoon and folded for you. You will have to pick a your laundry from the front desk. Your bedroom will ONLY be cleaned EVERY OTHER DAY. So, don't expect them to clean your room everyday. If you need extra towels, you will have to call down to the front desk or just pick them up from the front desk. Breakfast is NOT included as part of your stay like it is in the United States or America, unless you choose that options or pay extra when booking. Another downfall is that, at the time I was here, they only had two fans. One was broken and the other, someone else had. We stayed here for 6 nights and every night we kept asking for a fan, which of course they did NOT have. They kept trying to fix the A/C, but what we really needed was air circulation. Most hotels have or keep extra fans for their guests. Just note that if you need a fan for air circulation and comfort, you may not get one. So just take cold showers. There is no microwave or coffee maker in your room. There is however a small refrigerator there. They have a good coffee maker downstairs, tea, water foundation, microwave, and dinning area you can eat at. The front desk will have plastic utensils if you ask them for some. There is a gym, extra restrooms, vending machines, and ice on the "M" floor. The staff are ALL really nice! They had great customer service and had no problems with them. Their customer service alone was a five star. And again, this hotel is very conveniently located.

Let's start with cleanliness. The room is outdated, beat up, and was bordering on filthy. See the attached pics featuring the desk chair. I happened to be in a street facing room so there is the occasional bit of noise, but that wasn't a problem. Then there's the temperature. In one of the hottest weeks Montréal has seen so far this summer, my air conditioning unit was practically non-functional. The temperature in my room regularly topped out at 26 degrees. The young man at the front desk was happy to come reset the unit (I want to add here that the lobby air conditioning also seemed to be non-functional, horrible for the staff) and it briefly cooled down to a to a tolerable 22. Same song and dance the next day, where I had to go buy a fan from Best Buy in an attempt to get more than a few hours of decent sleep. No one ever followed up with me to see if things were improved, so I had to approach the front desk again. The same nice young gentleman came to my room, fiddled with the display for the AC for a few minutes, and I had a blissful night at 21.5 degrees. One night. I'm currently on night 6 (thank god, the last one) of my stay and it's 26 degrees. Never was I offered a different room, I had to ask (and none were available), never did they try to get a repairman into the room, nothing. It's made my stay here horrible. The hotel is located in a dodgy part of Rue Saint-Catherine. Red lights district with a visible unhoused population, and as a solo female traveler I experienced some harassment coming to and leaving from the hotel. I wouldn't feel safe being out after dark here. During the day it's relatively convenient to metro lines and a reasonable walk from local attractions. For a chain, I expect better. The staff was nice enough but there are no standards. Guests bang around at all hours of the night and you can feel vibrations through the walls. The AC panel blazes a bright blue light into the room all night, making it impossible to sleep unless you're knocked out or wear an eye mask. The hotel itself is worn and dingy. I didn't even try the breakfast for fear of wasting a vacation day on the toilet. Avoid, avoid, avoid.
