The location is really convenient for the U Bahn, or underground as we call it in London and we had no problem getting around while we were in town. You can walk from the station at Alser Strasse in less than 5 minutes. Breakfast was above average, a good spread of pretty much everything you could imagine on a breakfast menu, they even serve sparkling wine. It's buffet service but it was never overly busy during our stay. On the Saturday morning we were treated to a pair of violinists playing for us as we ate, and very good they were too. The staff on reception were courteous and helpful and all spoke impeccable English, which is good as my German only extends to useful phrases like "Where is the youth hostel?" So far so good, right? So why have I only given them 3 stars? The room. The room was tatty, the hallways leading to the room were tatty. We were on the top floor and the higher you went it seemed that the worse the state of repair got. There are gouges in the walls and doors, torn wallpaper and general signs that the place really needs a bit of love. The second thing which I didn't like was you have to pay for WiFi, this really annoys me in hotels. I expect to have free internet, if you want more money put your room rate up... Anyway, don't get me started on that or I'll never stop typing. There are signs up which say they are in the process of carrying out improvements to the hotel, and once they get all the rooms up to the same standard as you experience when you walk into the lobby it will be a wonderful place to stay. Right now it's good if you just want a cheap place to sleep but don't expect to be wowed with it.

I am not disappointed. It is true there is no air conditioning and there is a heat wave going on but the room is comfortable. More so than the hotel I stayed at in Santorini which did have air conditioning! There is the giant fan. The desk clerk was very accommodating and I can now turn distress into a fun adventure. The room is clean and large. The shower faucet leaks but it did not affect my shower. The bed is comfortable. Now I just want a schnitzel :)

Within 5 minutes, I was in the hotel after I got off the train. The hotel is nice and the staff is attentive. As some have reported, the hotel doesn't have air-conditioning. I went to the front desk and asked for a fan. They gave me a huge fan and the crisis was over with as I had cool fresh air. This is a great hotel and perfect location. I will stay here again when on layover in Vienna.

Sadly and Tragically, on Days 4 & 5 this turned out to be "FAKE" by another Assistant General Manager named ISABELLA." She betrayed my TRUST quickly by outright LIEING to me that I could re-enter the Gym/Sauna as I requested to take a quick photo for ideas for my home. I was SHOCKED & SURPRISED! Her Demeanor and Attitude instantly "FLIPPED" once I checked-out. I requested to store my luggage until 9 or 10PM, Isabella agreed. I didn't return until the next morning to retrieve my luggage and thanked her for the storage. I moved my luggage into the lobby while I was ordering a UBER Ride. However, for some unbeknownst reason[s] she became irrate when I requested to know if a room was available for another night. She stated I was NOT welcome back because the room had a "BAD SMELL." I informed her that I had requested to NOT have ANY ROOM SERVICES for the Five [5] days and should be commended for being a GREEN FRIENDLY CONSUMER, NOT BANNED! I was following their Corporate Policies to be a GREEN FRIENDLY PROPERTY yet I was now being treated like a CRIMINAL. As I awaiting for the UBER Vehicle, 3 men 'SNATCHED" ALL of my Luggages WITHOUT my Permission NOR Consent and physically moved them outside onto the sidewalk UNNATTENDED. ¡ UNPROFESSIONAL AND UNCONSCIONABLE BUSINESS PRACTICES BY ISABELLA!!! I advised Isabella I will be REMOVING the Hlowing 5 Star Review and Repkacing it with this 1 Star Review, SHE SIGHED AND LAUGHED! There is a mini-market next door to the hotel where you can get fruit, snacks, beverages, sandwiches, and hot food. Everything you might need for a meal (or other things) for a reasonable price. The hotel room was clean. I thought the carpet needed cleaning but perhaps there is a schedule for that. The single room was adequate for my stay. I like the temperature cold in summer months. It felt cold when I was up and about. Once I got into bed, it seems to go up automatically. Otherwise, breakfast was inviting and the stairs are open and very accessible allowing me to use them frequently. All in all, I enjoyed my quiet stay at this hotel and would stay here again.

Two of the rooms were spacious. Equipped with a kitchenette with microwave, fridge, sink, stove, pots, pan, dishes, water kettle. A living area separated by two twin beds to sleep two. Huge closet with a digital safe. Tv in the living space and in the bedroom. The restroom is decent size with 2 small travel size shampoo bottle. Their towels were super soft. Plenty of electrical outlets. The other room was a standard hotel room with no wall separation. It was more of like a hotel studio. It had a walk in closet, microwave and water kettle. No sink or stove. It cost to reserve parking per day in a gated lot that fits about 10 cars with a few spaces for electrical vehicles. I highly recommend this to keep your car safe. It's optional $10 per person per day for breakfast. I, personally did not like their selection compared to the other hotels. There were lots of bread, few pastries, meats, cheese, no scrambled eggs, just hard boiled eggs and no sausages. I ate the first day but the rest of our stay, I went to the bakery next door which turned out cheaper. Just be careful that you don't bring outside food to eat in their dining area. They will charge you $10 a day.

I have been traveling to Austria for business for the past seven years and Haus Monika is generally the most recommended place for my colleagues and myself. It is located within easy access of the local train station (a quick trip to Vienna by train too) and all the amenities that Modling has to offer.
