I had an overnight layover in Frankfurt and this was the hotel that was the best value close to the…read moreairport.
It is efficient and adequate; no more, no less. We don't really have an equivalent in the U.S. It's somewhere between a Red Roof Inn and a Holiday Inn Express.
You get a clean room, a bathroom, a bed (more on that in a moment), a TV, a desk, slow wifi and a chair. Do not expect luxury. You're here to sleep until you can get to your flight.
Some things you should know:
(1) There is a shuttle to/from the airport. Ir runs on an odd schedule that is roughly every 30 to 45 minutes until 11 p.m. Get the schedule from the hotel!
(a) The free shuttle picks you up at FRA for free. Meet it outside between doors 5 and 6 on the arrivals level. Look for all the other hotel shuttles. The shuttle was seriously the size of a city bus! It even had the hanging straps that a city bus would have.
(b) The shuttle TO the airport requires a reservation at the front desk. Going TO the airport is NOT FREE. Be prepared to hand over €3 when you board.
(c) The clerk told me to wait in the lobby for the morning shuttle and I missed it. You MUST wait outside. You cannot see the bus from inside, and it will leave you.
(2) Of all the hotels in Europe, this is a first -- the bed linens are just bizarre. There is no top (flat) sheet. There is a comforter, but it is smaller than the bed (check the photo gallery). You have been warned.
(3) You get one pillow per person. Since I was traveling alone, there was one pillow on my queen sized bed. I could have used more.
There are plenty of electrical outlets all across the room (you did bring your adapter, didn't you?), including next to the bed.
There is a restaurant on site. There is also a minifridge in my room with sign on it that says there are minbar refreshments at reception... and there were! They had beverages for sale at the front desk. No mysterious minibar charges, which happened to me multiple times in Europe.
Speaking of reception, the clerk working the desk was very brusque. No smile, no anything... He wasn't rude, just... icy AF.
This is a functional spot where you can get a lot of bang for your buck... just be sure to check out the bedding situation.
