Small hotel in a great location across the street from the Florence train station. I was booked here through AAA travel and the hotel and room was modest but was charming enough.
When I opened my room for the first time I had to insert my key ring to turn on the lights and the A/C. I was issued a physical key which must be turned in to the front desk upon leaving the hotel each time. The ceiling had lights with different color spectrums which gave it a cool look. The first night that we going to attempt to sleep, light from the courtyard was entering through the window and realized that a physical shutters needed to be closed to block the light. They didn't cooperate much as the restraints were bent and couldn't be closed 100%. The A/C also failed and needed to be reset by the staff.
When I needed to use the WiFi I kept getting disconnected in my room and needed to go sit it the small dining room to keep the clerk company in the middle of the night as that was the only place that I could go to get a signal. The nice thing is that there is a cooler full of water and Italian Beer that you could put on your tab and pay when you check out.
Tourist sites were close enough to have a long walk but since I took the train in and out of Florence, this was a good spot. Another plus was a great steakhouse just down the street on the same block, Trattoria dall 'Oste. This hotel has friendly staff. 2.5 stars! read more
