Despite the double glass I could not sleep till past 1am. Everything else about this hotel is quite ok. Location is 5 star, rooms are 3.5 star, service is 3 star. The reception is only open for a few hours a day and if you intend to arrive beyond those hours you need to arrange it. It's a stones throw from the Dom, Little Venice and so on. Plenty of choices of food in the area and it's a nice old building. I would not stay here again only because of the noise level. The rest is just fine.

Ok, ok, how horribly American of me to stay in a Best Western when in Germany? It's just so damn…read moreAmerican! However, if you're curious, other than the name it's not like the run of the mill Best Westerns that you'll experience in Omaha, Nebraska. For the record, I've never been to Omaha, Nebraska, but I'm certain it's quite lovely and the Best Westerns there are equally lovely. As I digress, this location is very European, with dare I say (write), smaller rooms and the traditional flavor, if you will. Very nice though, with great staff whose English was top notch! A very small, but accommodating, bar with a good selection of local Bamberg beer, and the breakfast buffet? Oh my goodness! Amazing!!! It's centrally located within walking distance to many of the tourist sites and I'd oh so stay there again! In fact, I will this coming summer on my next trip to Bamberg. If you're in the area, want a nice, clean and comfortable hotel at a very reasonable price, do yourself a solid and stay here. You'll be glad you did.

The room itself is pretty big by European standards with a kitchenette and a pretty big bathroom but it is sparse feeling, though. It was not super cheap to stay here. The breakfast was a typical German breakfast - which to me is generally delicious (plain yogurt, granola etc. fruit, eggs, boiled eggs, etc.). I will probably stay here again as it is super convenient for my work commitments, I enjoyed the staff and I had a nice breakfast.

I enjoy staying here because the staff is so friendly and accommodating, the breakfast is great and the the breakfast staff do everything they can to make the experience very positive, the internet works great and there are several English channels to choose from. They have free Wifi and you get your own bathroom for that price. They do not pay those booking sites to advertise for them so that is how they keep their prices cheap. Right now, the front desk is closed due to the construction. You will need to see their website and e-mail them to make reservations. You can pay when you arrive. The price for a single right now is 19 euros a night and a double is 28 euros a night. If you are in Schweinfurt temporarily this place is located in the center of town near everything and would be good to stay here instead of get an apartment. The decoration is plain and they don't always speak English so be prepared but you really can't ask for a better, safer, nicer place for 19 Euros a night, trust me. Check out of the hotel you are in and but first e-mail them to see if they have availability.

I had the wonderful opportunity to stay in this beautiful, quaint hotel during a recent business…read moretrip to Herzogenaurach. It's tucked into a quiet residential area just a short walk out of the center of town. Nearby is a school but otherwise the place is surrounded by private homes. My room was on the second floor above the entrance and restaurant on the front of the hotel. The two large windows had a nice view on a green space with tall trees and an old tile-roofed house. Unlike hotels in the US always worried about a lawsuit, these windows even opened wide like doors to let the cool air fill the room at night. The only downside being when people would go out front to talk and smoke in the night. I didn't pay for the room, since it was a company trip, but the price seemed reasonable for what you get. There was a small extra charge for breakfast every morning. The hotel manager was very considerate and accommodating when I let him know my dad would be joining me there for the latter half of my stay. The quality of construction from the building itself all the way to the furniture and fixtures in the room was good. The shower was incredible with a wide, rainfall style head. It could get VERY hot too. There was even a small kitchenette with a fridge, sink and burners for cooking on. But user beware, if you don't clean the dishes they will charge you 150 Euros as an additional fee. The TV also had a full range of channels, including some US news channels in English. The restaurant downstairs had one of the best, widest selections for breakfast I have ever experienced in a hotel. German standards of bread, cheese, deli meats, tomato and cucumber, yogurt and nuts. Plus scrambled eggs, an assortment of cereals, granola bars, packaged pastries, juices, milk, tea and coffee. The manager was always present and attentive and spoke a bit of English too. Parking was a bit tough if you have a big car. Or maybe I'm just not used to driving in Europe. In any case, my car was big by European standards. I had a bit of trouble getting in and out of the parking garage, but I did manage it every day without incident. In the end, if you find yourself looking for a place to stay in Herzo I can highly recommend this hotel.
