Cool little boutique hotel with loads of charm and very close to the Oktoberfest grounds. We were looking at hotels months before Oktoberfest and found this gem. It wasn't terribly priced and was very close to the Wiesen. And as we didn't have table reservations, we wanted something close to the grounds so we could show up early. The design is very cool. Modern with a cool Bavarian charm. The staff was great and spoke very good English which helps as my German was elementary at best. The rooms are clean big enough, and have a little balcony with ample fresh air. The other amenities are good as well. The bar was small and intimate but what makes this place is the amazing German breakfast. It's everything you expect from a German breakfast and more. Grab your food and sit on the patio area to take in the morning air. Overall I was so impressed I would absolutely book again for my next Oktoberfest. read more

Ideal hotel for Munchen Oktoberfest!!! Hotels in Munich are not cheap. AC/DC were playing when we went and most hotels were booked solid. Found this place through Trivago. Located about 400m from nearest ubahn station. Not a bad walk down and then you're only a couple of stops from the centre of the city. Rooms are clean, the bed was comfy and there's a great shower! Breakfast was included in the room rate and is served from 7am - 10am. Great selection of continental breakfast items. Although I stuck to granola with yogurt or bread rolls with nutella - yum! Also serving good beer / cocktails in the bar which is always a nice way to finish off a busy touristy day! read more

Hotel prices in Munich in my view comparable to NYC. Hotel Bavaria is located near U Bahn and 1 stop from central station and 3 stops from Marientplatz. The hotel is in a good area on a quiet street with some good beer spots near by. The rooms are on the small side but well equipped. WiFi is patchy and the login process overly complex. Staff friendly and helpful with a nice bar and patio area. Breakfast included in the rate and its amongst the best I have had when compared to other European countries. read more

Hotel Bavaria is a bit away from the city center. It is reasonably well connected by public transport with 3 stations in walking distance (that we used) It functions as a bed and breakfast (with more rooms than a typical B&B), with good breakfast and a small bar for drinks during the rest of the day. There are a few restaurants around the hotel that are open late. The staff manning the desk and the breakfast room are really sweet and obliging (except about breakfast being cleared away at 10:30, so don't try to push your luck on this point) You can buy a multiple day travel pass at the hotel, which really helps, instead of fumbling with a machine at the station. But payment for this is cash only. (Your room and extras, can be paid for by card) There is a mini bar in the room, with some basics and water from the tap is safe to drink (as in most of Germany) The room doesn't have cupboards, but lots of tiny shelves and a large cushioned bench that can be used for opening upto 2 medium sized suitcases. Very thoughtfully designed room. There was a radiator and a tower fan in the room, which we used at night as we were on the first floor and didn't want to leave the curtains/windows completely open. read more

Great location for Oktoberfest! On a chance, we booked a room at Hotel Bavaria and were thoroughly satisfied. It was close enough to the Munich HBF that I was able to walk to the hotel. Easy access to the S Banh as well though. The room was decently sized. Not much of a view, but we weren't there for the views. Comfortable bedding and sheets. Breakfast is typical European standard fare and had excellent selection and service. The bar is open until decently late where we had a good time socializing with some Norwegians and the staff! They have a small elevator, so only expect to use it for transporting luggage. All in all would love to stay here again for Oktoberfest! read more

My husband and I traveled to Germany for the first time to attend the opening weekend of Oktoberfest. This hotel is literally 1 block from the Oktoberfest grounds, it really doesn't get any better than that. We took the S-Bahn S8 train into the city to the Central Station and then grabbed a cab from there since we had a lot of luggage. If you are traveling light you could definitely walk it in about 15-20 minutes. The cab ride to the hotel was only 8 EUR so it was worth it, plus we had no idea where we were going. The staff member that greeted us at check in was very nice and pleasant, our flight had been changed last minute so we were very early, but they stored our luggage for us and gave us recommendations on where to sightsee and eat for lunch. Once we were checked in, the rooms were very nice. Average sized for Europe and well stocked with anything we might need. The breakfast was included and had a nice mix of things that were familiar (eggs, sausages, bacon, bread) and things that were not so typical for an American style buffet breakfast (cured meats and cold cuts, veggies, nice cheeses) and they offer coffee and tea (cappuccino!). Staff was always very helpful for any questions that we had. The little bar off of the main lobby was cute and fun at the end of the night. Even with the closeness to Oktoberfest, the hotel was nice and peaceful and very clean. We will definitely stay here again for our trips to Munich and would recommend to anyone we knew traveling there! read more

Need more stars! Our family (2 adults, 3 teen children) stayed at the Hotel Bavaria from 07/04 - 07/11 and it was incredible! From the initial reservation to the final check-out the experience was flawless. Some highlights: The staff is amazing. Janet Kaufmann started us off right with an easy reservation with no check in issues. She booked a car to pick us up from the airport and it was there waiting when we cleared customs. The rooms were ready when we arrived, clean and in perfect order. Eli (bar and front desk) was like one of the family. We rolled in late one Sunday and all the restaurants were closed, so Eli went out of her way to provide some food for the family. Sonni (sp) and all of the other staff greeted us with smiles at every interaction. The lounge was a nice quiet place to relax in the evenings. Eli makes the best Shirley Temples! The property is excellent. It is in the West End of Munich right near the Oktoberfest grounds and close to a U Bahn stop. Old Munich it a quick two stops on the U Bahn. Being in the West End, you get a nice selection of restaurants and beer gardens without all the touristy crowds of Old Munich. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Lots of plugs and even some USB ports. The hotel has a very cool vibe and is nice and quiet. The morning breakfast buffet was fantastic! We all found plenty to eat with lots of variety day after day. Lots of eggs, meats, honey, fruits, cereals, breads and cheeses. We rented a car from a local Sixt office and it was a very easy drive from the hotel to Salzburg (1.5 hrs), Fussen (1.0 hr +) and Oberammergau (45 min). They have a small onsite parking lot, with overflow spaces across the street. Remember, if you are driving from Germany to Austria you will need a Vignette and you may want to consider getting an International Driving Permit. I highly recommend the Hotel Bavaria to anyone looking to see Munich and I am looking forward to heading back! read more

Hotel Bavaria is located just a block away from the Theresienwiese on a quiet side street. I stayed here during Oktoberfest and it was ideal to be so close, but also to be just far enough away from the crowds. Upon checking in, I was very impressed. The rooms and reception area look modern and clean and the beds were comfortable. There is free wireless available throughout the hotel and, for those without a laptop, there is a computer available in their Business Center for free use by guests. Another plus is the complimentary breakfast, which included a nice selection cheese, meat, Muesli, fruit, and rolls. read more

I have stayed at many hotels abroad, and this one definitely stands out as being one of the best. Location is within walking distance of city center, and a wonderful beer garden with great food is just minutes away. The staff is unbelievably helpful and friendly. The rooms were spotless, the breakfast was perfect. As other have mentioned, the free wifi is spotty at best. But all other things make this a perfect spot to stay. read more

The hotel was clean and a perfect location for Oktoberfest. The rooms were small and a bit awkward (no doors on the shower leading into the main bedroom area) and oddly angled windows which cut down on headspaces. It was a bit overpriced, but it was Oktoberfest so that has to be in consideration. It is about a 15 minute walk to the main train station so plan accordingly. The breakfast was average and included your standard meat/cheese European choices. The staff was friendly and helpful and spoke good English. read more
