Location: this hotel is in prime location. Located right on the beach with white sandy beach and…read moreclear blue water that's like glass. This itself gets 5+ stars. Hotel staff: Great! very friendly and got us in our rooms quick. Hotel itself: For it being a Marriot hotel I expected better... way better! They forgot to mention they were doing construction on the hotel so during the day we heard all the construction noise which was right outside our room. Our room was clean but the beds were terribly uncomfortable. Our backs were killing us! The air conditioning does not work at all.. we had that sucker cranked to the lowest it can go but we dealt with it. The toilet paper holder was falling off which was super glued to the wall. For two out of our 3 nights for some reason our shower had a strong sewer/urine odor coming from the shower drain which I guess was coming from the pipes that's connected with the toilet. That was no bueno. Our last night at the hotel at 6:00 am the fire alarm went off 3 times forcing us in a panic to go outside our hotel room thinking there was a fire or some kind of emergency. The hotel staff failed at communicating with us that it's a false alarm or any apologies. When I called the front desk to ask what's going on they said it was due to a faulty system. Restaurant on site: Location is beautiful, staff are friendly, the food is mediocre and lacking flavor. Overall, there are better hotels to stay on the island.

Mystique Blue is a boutique Marriott hotel located on Isla Holbox. It's walking distance to the…read morebeach center, but far enough that this beachside hotel feels as though it has it's own private beach. Amenities include wifi, a gym, cocktail pool, beachside restaurant/bar, beachside service (drinks, apps, bottle service, etc). They also can arrange excursions and spa services. We stayed there for three nights and took advantage of the complimentary breakfasts and beach amenities. Next time I return to Holbox, I'd stay at Mystique again.

Staff did not help AT ALL. The pools in the room are NOT heated and any activities they say they offer, they do not. The showers leak. 0/10 customer service - do not stay here. Even if it's on sale. This is a glorified motel

What an Incredible Escape! Not easy to get to, but TOTALLY worth it. This place is located on…read moreIsla Holbox in the Yucatan. First, getting to Isla Holbox. You have to fly into Cancun. Then there's a great Holbox transfer service (I'll review later) that will drive you the 1 1/2 drive to Chiquila, then you take a 30 minute ferry to the island. Then take a golf cart taxi to the hotel (there aren't hardly any cars on the island; everyone gets around on golf carts). Its a Tropical Paradise Hotel. Our room was located on the upper two floors of the building (only 2 rooms in our building). Our patios had lounge chairs, chairs, hammocks. Top floor had a hot tub with views. Mini fridge with waters in room. Indoor & Outdoor showers. There are no traditional shower heads; everything looked like branches or pails. I loved the Mexican Island decor. There's no television or phones (and you can forget your cell phone working; however, they do have free wi-fi). If it gets too hot for you, there IS air conditioning (had to blast that a couple of times). Incredible views of the ocean. Hotel pool is fantastic. Included in your cost is breakfast (very good) and hotel toys (bikes, kayaks, etc). There's a hotel restaurant inside lobby and a bar/restaurant, right next to the ocean. You will also have to deal with many resident creatures (iguanas, raccoon thieves, pelicans, stray dogs, etc). There's a sandbar a hundred feet out in the ocean that you can walk for a couple of miles and see all the flamingos. You can grab a bike to ride into town. Its an amazing place. PLUS, Excellent service. Everyone was friendly & helpful. I'm sad to be reviewing because that means I'm home.
