The hotel accommodations are good. Rooms are kept clean daily. Front of the house staff is friendly and courteous. For a non-smoking hotel, there were still smokers in the hallways of the rooms. And there is no sound barrier at the bottom of the doors, so be prepared to listen to a morning of everything happening in the hallway, such as slamming doors (from guests and housekeeping) and overhearing people's daily experiences.
Skip the dinner buffet ... Food is mediocre and heavens forbid you ask for something near closing time. The kitchen staff will rip your head off - the hostess did try her best to rectify what she witnessed, but a little too late and the damage was done. Besides, after the looks and words I got from the kitchen staff, I would be afraid to eat anything that would have been prepared for me anyway! Your best bet for a good decent meal is to get a taxi and go off premises ... any restaurant you would have stumbled upon would have done a better job.
Need the staff be reminded of the profession they chose to make a living by ... Food, Beverage and HOSPITALITY!!! The latter seemed to be a strange concept to the staff when I asked for a simple item to be prepared at their action station - I received the meaning of "we are closed" in several languages, including sign-language ... or a version thereof. Rather than taking late seatings, they should refuse late arrivals or offer an a la Carte service. It is just bad practice to welcome guests in and then start breaking down the buffet in 10 minutes, while charging full price - in my case a 3 oz piece of fish and half a fist of mushrooms - from the one and only action station. For what I paid ... the fish would have costed me 200€ / kg and it did not even have caviar, nor were the mushrooms black or white truffles ... That was some expensive cod and oyster mushrooms.
I digress ... For a place to sleep, yes! But for a place to eat, run the other way! read more
