This place is unique, very minimalistic design and decoration. Starting from the lobby to the rooms, only the very basic necessities. However, its fully stocked with things you need for comfortable stay. We got a room on 2nd floor with balcony over looking the entrance to Rinascente Milano. We were worried about the street noise but all worked out ok. When the tourists are gone, locals done partying, becomes very quite. Actually, trash truck comes at 5 30 am. Bed is clean, comfortable, temperature is jut right. All the furnishings are super modern and belongs in an art museum. Its small but very functional. Bathroom is all copper except the ceiling. Floor is copper, even the shower. Rain shower with very strong water pressure is a big plus. Lots of hot water. Two waters and nesspresso pods are complimentary. Fully stocked refrigerator with pricing list on the QR code linked. If you are a first timer, will struggle little bit with light switches. Still do not know how to turn the bedside lights. Very clean, comfortable, quite and friendly staff and few steps from M1, and being in the center of Milan, a must!

From this stop, it would take about 15 mins to get to the city center and about 20mins to get to the main train station. From the outside the hotel looks big, and I found out later that the hotel is in a converted bakery factory hence the large size. As you enter the hotel, you enter into this massive lobby with high ceilings and a grand staircase in the middle. To the left is the check-in desk and a waiting area and to the right is the bar and restaurant. Up the stairs is the first floor which contains the meeting rooms, the Melia lounge, as well as guest rooms. The first thing I noticed when I entered the room is that despite the large size of the hotel and the massive lobby, the hotel rooms were somewhat smaller and more compact than I expected. As you entered the room, on the left was the entrance to the bathroom while on the right was a little wall that ended as you entered into the main part of the room. The bathroom was decent but also compact and contained a toilet, bidet, sink with minimal counter space, and a walk-in shower. The toiletries were refillable and had handwash and lotion next to the sink with body wash, shampoo and conditioner in the shower; the basic amenities were there but the space was more compact and restricted. In the room, on the right was a stand with shelves for storage and then continuing on the right was a nook with an open closet and open luggage rack. The luggage rack and open closet was a nice touch but there was minimal storage space as the open rack and the shelves were the only storage. In the main part of the room, the king-size bed was along with right side of the wall and on each side of the bed was a table with a lamp on it and plugs behind it along with USB ports. The bed was decent enough for the first night but was a bit uncomfortable towards the third night but overall provided a decent sleep. The tables next to the bed were somewhat small so again it did the job but space was limited. Across from the bed, along the left side of the wall, was the TV mounted on the wall and in the corner a table with chairs. The table and chairs was a nice touch to have but again it was a small table so could barely have two people eating or drinking at the same time. Overall it was a decent room with the necessary amenities but the space was more compact than I expected for a suburb hotel. The hotel is a full-service hotel so has lots of amenities including a hotel bar, restaurant, meeting rooms, hotel lounge, a gym, and wifi. The wifi was decent and you could connect as many devices as you want but it did slow down sometimes and was not always the most reliable. I did not try the bar nor restaurant but did see lots of people going there so it seemed popular. Overall, it was not an impressive stay at Melia Milano. This hotel was outside the city and is in a former factory so one would expect bigger rooms but the size of this room is what you would expect at a hotel closer to the city. The customer service was also lacking as we connected with the front desk staff many times and throughout my interactions only staff person was actually nice and helpful while the others barely did their job and barely provided any support.

The person on the phone in perfect and very polite English assured me they won't issue a no-show and will be waiting for us. The hotel's located very close to Milano Centrale train station, and also about 5-10 mins walking distance of the famous Corso Buenos Aires with numerous shops, outlets and gelaterias. Metro stations of two of the lines M1 and M3 are easily reachable (they both go to Duomo cathedral). Stayed there in the end of May, but doubt much has changed since then. This time, the only positive I can give is that the staff members were really nice and there is a great grocery store across the street. Upon check-in, we walked into a packed lobby as there was conference going on. We were greeted by Laura at the front desk, she was friendly and helpful. Laura quickly got us checked in and told us that we could wait for our room in the concierge lounge. The lounge was the same as I remembered, dark, but it had a decent selection of non-alcoholic beverage. The ice situation was not great, just a bucket filled with melting ice that anyone can reach their hands into. And, every night, a group of pilots would sit at the lounge talking for hours, taking up space for other guests that just might want a few minutes to relax. The hotel needs maintenance. The carpets are torn and pieced back together, as is the wallpaper. The room felt dirty, there was mold build up in the bathroom around the sink and tub. At night we wanted to turn on the air, we were told that they turn the AC off for the winter. We opened the sliders which was a huge mistake, none of us were able to sleep between the constant noise of emergency vehicles and the mosquitos! Even though it was winter, we got eaten alive by mosquitos. We decided on the second night to just suffer through the heat. The morning breakfast spread is big with a lot of options, but it is extremely busy. The wait staff members were not friendly or helpful at all. The biggest thing that bothered me is what I will call the smoker's gauntlet. Every time we arrived or left the hotel, we had to walk through the covered area through tons of people smoking, it was absolutely disgusting. I have no idea why this hotel can't find another area and dedicate it to smokers. The location of the hotel is a bit far from tourist stuff, but it is a quick walk to the subway. Once again, WiFi is NOT free here, but only in the main lobby area. Our hotel room was on the same side as the main entrance and facing the street. Right across from us is an apartment building I believe. We saw other folks out on their balcony. The bathroom also has a huge deep tub. There is also a fridge with drinks, snacks and a dusty bottled water (not free of course). The carpet inside is a deep blue with yellow/gold wallpaper. The door is also nicely detailed in (faux?) wood as well as the furniture. So it's more of a traditional style and not so much modern. The other negative that was really annoying was the elevators! They were on the smaller side and so slow! Breakfast is include and they had a lot of variety to chose from (waffles, eggs, bacon, yogurt, baked goods etc). One note I must make is that the staff felt a little more snobbish. I felt like I should have worn a nice dress or something fancier. All in all, Milan was alright and not sure if I'll ever be in the city again or this hotel, but it was a decent stay.

ONE exception is this hotel. I have tried to speak to someone regarding our reservation which was booked on Expedia and we were told SORRY! We didn't want a refund but just a credit to book once this virus is better understood and controlled. Well everyone else understood the need to cancel but this hotel didn't see it this way.
