What once was a chill, totally relaxed place to grab a drink has turned into a hyper pretentious, self-indulged ironic hipster bar. My friend and I have been going to Hotel Delmano for years but haven't been in quite some time. We walked up to the door where we were greeted by a large older man who had a striking resemblance to big gay Al from southpark. There was a couple waiting in-front of us and he politely asked if we could wait a few minutes. Moments later a gentleman with a mustache and waistcoat (of course) came out and said there was a table ready... Given our wait I was surprised to find the bar area empty as was most of the place and I asked, may we sit at the bar to which he replied in a snarky manner, "you need to know someone to sit at the bar, mainly friends and family..." He shoved my friend and I in a very tight corner where we decided at that moment it was not worth our time and decided to leave. Part of the charm of Delmano aside from the old school/modern décor and great mixed drinks was that it never took itself too seriously in a neighborhood where so many bars do... I don't recommend this bar if you're looking for a chill atmosphere, great drinks and more importantly a good staff.. Quite frankly, I can find my basil infused, distilled something drink elsewhere... unless you're the pretentious type, who enjoys sipping chai lattes, pickling your sustainably grown cucumbers and savoring the smell of your own farts, avoid like the plague. read more

This is a great place for a blind date. Impress the person with your impeccable taste in design. After all the room is beautifully designed with romantic nooks, candelight, peeling paint---it's a special place. If the date is going well move on to another bar especially if you really like your booze. The drinks at Delmano are OK. They are beautifully presented. Reading the menu you will be interested in the combinations. But take one sip and there is only one flavor that comes through-citrus. They are waaaaaay too heavy handed on the acid. All the drinks I've had on the menu tasted the same. I could tell you what I ordered by name but I couldn't tell you what it tasted like except for citrus. (I've visited Delmano 4 times which is a fair amount to get a handle on a place i think). Another problem I have is the waitstaff. Not my favorite kind of people. I wish I could say they were simply reserved but they come across as smug. They are very cool in an overly studied way and it all comes across as one big yawn. Which is unfortunate. I'd love to see them have a bit more fun with themselves. After all they kinda have a good thing going. It would be a great thing if it didn't feel like a prep-school alum association. What I know about french history, silent films and Wittgenstein doesn't preclude me from having a good, relaxed time. SMILE i promise your face won't break. Delmano is a good place to start the night but not the place to ride it out. read more

I arrived as a happy, paying customer and spent generously over the course of the evening--several expensive bottles of wine among them. What I received in return, as closing time approached, was rudeness, hostility, and open contempt. Rather than being treated like a valued guest, I was rushed toward the door and made to feel ridiculous for wanting to enjoy the time and hospitality I was paying for. The staff's only visible priority was getting themselves out, and they made no effort to hide it. When I raised my concerns, they were waved off entirely--as if a customer's experience were an inconvenience rather than the entire point of the business. There's a simple test of any hospitality business: how it treats a good customer at the least convenient moment. Hotel Del Nano failed it completely. I left feeling that my money was welcome but I was not. I won't be returning, and I'd encourage anyone expecting to be treated with basic respect to spend their money somewhere that values they also tried to say i would be black balled at all williamsburg bars which turned out to be true i hope the owners read this and change the unpleasant and unprofessional team there - the worst i have experienced in 12 years read more

Hotel Delmano is a really wonderful little cocktail bar. The drinks here are expertly made, the ambiance is wonderful and the service is extremely polite and friendly. We dropped in here after dinner for a couple of drinks. The host was super polite and found us a seat right away. He graciously offered to move us to a better seat away from the door and was really friendly while taking our drink orders as well! Not used to this level of niceness after hanging out a lot in Manhattan, but something I really appreciated! Drinks here were perfect - and I really do mean perfect. No overpowering flavors, no unbalanced ingredients, no nonsense. We tried the Occam's razor (which they seem to have discontinued, unfortunately) and the Smoke and Flowers. Both were great though I'm sure you won't go wrong with any of the other drinks on their menu. Ambiance is 'hipster' according to their Yelp page but really its more old-school classy and homely at the same time - reminds me of an old, cozy library for some reason. Price wise it may be a tad more expensive than other bars in the area but we felt it was and totally worth it. Will definitely return here. read more

I don't go to too many bars that draw this much attention, but the cocktails here are some of the best I have ever tasted. I've seen a lot of lines at this place but I got here at a good time, I guess, and didn't have to wait too long. The ambiance was very cool and sexy; it didn't feel contrived either which happens a lot in the neighborhood. It seems like there are always so many people outside so they don't necessarily cram too many inside, which is a big plus once you're in. As for the drinks, all I can say is Smoke & Flowers, Smoke & Flowers and Smoke & Flowers! So beautifully composed, potent but delicate -- these bartenders really work with a deft hand. Could I stand to get them a little faster? Probably. Am I an impatient girl who wants what I want fast anyway? Yes. To make something this wonderful I think I can be okay with waiting for something hand-made to, you know, be hand-made for a minute or two longer than I might normally expect. 6 stars to that drink alone. read more

I have been here a few times and never wrote a review. I always thought it was a nice, romantic place to go with my boyfriend... until I went there two weeks ago. I have never eaten there before (only been for drinks) and came last a little hungry. My boyfriend and I sat at a table and noticed a little menu on the table along with the menus we were handed. I ordered a greek salad off the menu on the table and was told that was not available. I specifically asked if anything else on the menu was not available and was told no. My boyfriend ordered the pate and he was told that was not available also. Then the waitress said, don't look at the menu on the table we don't have any of that. I suggested that menu be removed from the table then. The waitress said "oh really, thanks" and walked away from us!!!! I couldn't believe it. We got up and left. I thought it was just horrible service. I will think twice before returning.. at least hungry. read more

I walked by this place many times and was very intrigued. What looks like the main entrance was always gated and locked, but I could catch glimpses of the interior through the frosted windows. The first time I actually had a drink here was on a date with my boyfriend. The atmosphere is classic speakeasy, with dim lighting and candles at the tables. It's actually quite a large space inside, and we sort of hid out in the back room. The cocktails were good, though some of the Manhattan speak easy bars have tastier and more inventive cocktails for that price. I would say it is definitely one of the classier bars in the neighborhood, and probably the only place to get a great cocktail. If it weren't for the price tag, I would probably be a regular. read more

I was never interested in writing a review until now. Drinks are good, the waitress great, but the manager or host Greg (or similar) was literally disrespectful with us. We were kicked out of the place not even at 2 am, on a Thursday night, Jan 19. Last call was about 1. 45, so you assume that at least you have time to finish your drink and go around 2.15...So at 2 am , this guy came and literally kick us out. I have been working in this industry for the past 10 years. You can ask customers to leave, but you can be polite. , The manager instead was rude, and when we approached him just to mention this, HE told us : PLEASE NEVER COME BACK AGAIN. Terrible place to celebrate a friends birthday. read more

Hi to the pretentious door dude from last night who let us sit on a bench for a half hour as he put stuff away and ignored half a dozen people walk out. Hi to the pretentious outdoor dude who couldn't stop advising his muted pseudo-date about their supposed careers in whatever. What happened to the place that Tim M, and Ryan (one of Paul's brothers), and the dude who looks like Captain Kangaroo (Patty Malloy from Union Pool?) made cool? Was it by design, was there a meeting about hiring more people that suck? Is someone keeping score, we snagged a few more pretentious idiots tonight, we're really doing quite well? read more

One of my favorite places in Brooklyn until yesterday when I came across a door person much like Studio 54. Sizing people and blocking "unwanted" faces. It got even more amusing when a greasy hair promotor like blond man came out to reinforce the door policy and even suggested we go to another spot across the street. This 90's attitude is a repellent and tacky disposition to implement to a Brooklyn establishment that should take pride in being cool and inviting to all. While I will not return, I felt compelled to share my experience. read more

I'm long overdue for writing a review here- I've been (happily) drinking & nibbling here for a couple of years now and love this spot. Perfect (weekday) date night place, perfect catch up with a friend spot, perfect drinks on the patio spot. The cocktails are tasty, light and creative without being too "trying" (for lack of a better word.) And the bites are good too- but better for us to come on the early side- it gets crowded later on. read more

I like the cocktails although they are on a smaller side . I used to come there and have an espresso but for some reason they do not offer espresso coffee anymore . They have an extensive selection of whiskey and bourbon drinks. I am not sure about their beer selection but if you want to drink a beer why come here ? Good place to see and spend time . read more

The drinks and ambiance were pretty good but unfortunately the service is simply subpar. Our waitress was so rude and unwelcoming. My friends and I even spotted her mocking us with her coworkers who kept staring at us. On our way out, we tried to talk about it to the manager, needless to say, he didn't apologize or anything. Work on it!!! read more

Not a hotel, but has the bar any hotel would die for. Only negative to the joint is that it is always crowded. But they have rent to pay so I understand. The drinks were thirst quenching and delicious. Go early so you can try a few of their specialty cocktails. The decor is fantastic, like a classy hotel bar, hence the name. read more

If it weren't for the pretentious, ignorant, douche-ster, knobs that stand unwittingly at the door drunk on the sour stench of their own insignificance, it wouldn't be so bad. This was a lovely spot when it first opened. It's a shame. Please visit Maison Premiere or Dram instead for equally delicious drinks. read more

knowledgeable staff. AMAZING cocktails. Beautiful cocktail waitresses. And best of al is that it's not pretentious at all. It's a really fun space and has a good vibe. They even, at times, do special events like Tiki (cocktail) Thursdays of both traditional and special!!! read more

What's wrong with the service? Rude, arrogant...the polar opposite of decent hospitality. We enjoyed our drinks but we couldn't bear with how poorly we were treated by our server. You walk into an establishment to have a good time not to be MOCKED by the waitress. read more

Came here for my birthday. The blonde waitress, I don't remember her name, was absolutely horrible. She shamed my wife, saying "she didn't look good" for looking tired at the end of a long day of work. We're never coming back again. read more

Can't get enough of this place!!! The cocktails are AMAZING. Service is always on point. I usually drink round after round of the San Francisco Handshake, but last time I decided to try absinthe. The presentation blew my mind!! read more
