Given its location if you have a car you will be parking in the newer part of town in the parking garage and either hiking up hill 15+ minutes with your luggage or taking a taxi. We took a taxi. The streets are crazy narrow even for the professionals. We arrived early and were able to check-in. The woman at the front desk was delightful and super helpful (she also checked us out and ordered us a taxi). Fortunately I booked a superior room and it had a stupendous view of the valley below. The hotel is right on the edge of the cliff. The hotel is an old palace so it has its quirks but the room was big and the balcony huge. There was a safe and a small frig and tea kettle. The price was pretty good but it was off season. Not a big deal given the room we had and it was the weekend but the main square of town right outside the front door is in the midst of major construction so it could be loud on weekdays depending on the room. This project looks like it has a long way to go... Thumbs up.

The kicker though was the large roach, which I watched scurry across our bathroom floor one night. Wifi was a little spotty, but that seems to be par for the course in the hotels I visited in Andalusia. Breakfast, which costs ~30 eur/two people was good, and includes fruits, meats, tea, and coffee, but it was by far the most expensive meal we had in Arcos de la Frontera. I'd recommend having breakfast only once, so you can enjoy the view from the restaurant windows of the valley below.

None the less, it was a perfect place to stay. The breakfast included was just right. The town of Arcos has alot to offer and the cathedral on the hillside is breathtaking. The atmosphere and location were beyond my expectations. We could walk just a few meters to the main church and all the restaurants. The room was spacious and the bathroom was clean and luxurious. He beds were comfortable and the temperature in the room was perfect. The sitting area on the first floor is amazingly inviting and there were chestnuts sitting by a fire in the fireplace at night. We sat and talked and could see the beautiful sights of the city below through the windows.

Regardless, for the money, we really enjoyed our stay here. Jerez, in general, is a fantastic town. So laid-back!! Get to a Bodega and taste some Sherry wines!

The massage was carried out as if in a hurry, the bed was rusty and way too small ( I wonder how the average man gets through an hour on such a tiny bed) and the room was a steamy 27C/80F. If it wasn't for the noise factor, I would rate this place much higher.

We got a 5 person room with a private bathroom. We were pleasantly surprised to find that our room actually had private bathrooms for both men and women, and that made the whole sharing-a-restroom necessity much easier and more convenient. Everything was very clean, the beds were soft and comfy, and the bathrooms had showers with hot water (surprisingly not a given in some hostels). The location is quite easy to find (even at 3 in the morning), the receptionist was incredibly welcoming and helpful, and there is an underground parking garage right in front of the building. Even though we only stayed at this hostel for a few hours, it was actually a very nice experience. I would definitely recommend this place if you're traveling through Spain and need a place to crash for a night.

Combined with an alluring (but nonrefundable) deal on Hotels.com, I thought I would be living the lush life, drinking vino de Jerez until my blood alcohol content was as high as my grade on my first exam. Needless to say, this did not happen. Firstly, the whole concierge process was always extremely slow. Need the code for the WiFi? Need a taxi? Expect to wait in queue for a good 10 minutes or so. Jerez is oppressively hot in the summer. So when the elevators are broken and I am carrying two pieces of luggage up to the third floor of my hotel, I have a tendency to get dizzy. Coupled with the malfunctioning air conditioner, I was a dehydrated, hot sweaty mess. Oh, but it gets better. I had a feeling that I had been giving a smoking room, although I specified "Non-Smoking" when I made my reservation. I wake up the next morning, covered in cigarette ash. Disgusting. So at this point, I am a dehydrated, hot sweaty mess bearing semblance to an ashtray. Sexy. If there were guidos in Spain, you'd bet they'd be partying at the bar across the street where I got to listen to Benny Benassi/Paul Oakenfeld/Tiesto or any miscellaneous Pete Tong essential mix circa late 1990s. When I return to Jerez, I am going to save a ton of money and sleep in the Tio Pepe cellar. Done and done.
