The driver, Armando, arranged with the hotel, was waiting for us as we exited the terminal. 15 minutes prior to our arrival at the hotel and after exchanging some pleasantry, the driver handed us a cocktail menu to select drinks prior to our arrival. Upon arrival, the valets quickly assisted with our luggage and directed us to the front desk where we were greeted warmly by the staff. As the receptionist completed our registration, a lovely woman by the name of Mariel arrived with our drinks. Mariel and the valet showed us to our room; 104. I highly recommend getting the breakfast package, as the food and service were impeccable. Taynet, Miriam, Alejandro, and Lucia were an absolute delight. Every morning we were greeted with a warm, friendly, smile, and shown to the table of our choice. The food was excellent. The freshest fruits and breads, the eggs, waffles, chilaquiles, and French toast all of the highest order. The service provided by the staff mentioned was without reproach. On one of the days, the concierge, Miguel Angel, was kind enough to give us a tour of the historical building and provided us the rich history of the building in all of its inceptions. A fascinating history indeed. Another day, Friday, I had to take an important, emergency meeting for work. Mariel, the hotel's concierge, made the concentrated effort to provide me a private conference room for which to take my business meeting...compliments of the hotel. Lastly, I cannot speak more highly of the attention to service provided by staff at The Brick Hotel. You see, the hotel is a boutique hotel, meaning--there are only 17 rooms. As such, the staff have an opportunity to know each guest by name. As my husband and I discovered as we were always greeted by our names "Don Osvaldo", "Don Luis". I had never experienced this before at any other luxury hotel I had stayed at. All in all, we are happy and delighted with our stay, worth every penny. We will definitely return next year.

Tip: Their friendly staff will get you a driver to take you somewhere to eat (we chose a great local taco place) and they will wait while you eat, of course, for a fee. We were charged 250 pesos and we took no less than 30 mins so we were ok with that.

Mostly, everything was quite nice but we did have some problems. All staff we interacted with were very helpful and the front desk staff all spoke English. Some big positives were the food served for breakfast in the lower lobby and also on the 12th floor if you purchased a "Premium" room which entitled you to have the choice of going to the 12th floor not only for breakfast, but for a Happy Hour where you can get wine and beer. The buffet was large and staff kept busy keeping it stocked. If you wanted a little more quiet then go to the 12th floor. The pool on the 9th floor was a great size but the literally attached three hot tubs had no temperature difference. You got the bubbles but this design didn't work for us. Our rooms we stayed in were nice but we also had some problems. One room we had to ask for the shower drain to be unclogged. The clog resulted in the slowly draining water ending up into the bathroom itself all over the place. Another issue we had water dripping from a ceiling light fixture onto the toilet. After reporting this issue and coming back at the end of the day after sightseeing, we were told we had to switch rooms as they could not determine the cause or fix the problem. I did ask for some form of compensation for the inconvenience and was offered a late checkout or bottle of wine but no financial benefit. We took the wine. One of our friends had a nonworking hair dryer. The hotel has some shops where my kid got a beautiful new bag, and they also have travel and financial services in the basement. They have an ATM but the machine did not accept my card, and someone in our group had their card stuck in it resulting in having to get maintenance to pull the card out with some pliers. The lobby bar is open until 1am. Nice. This hotel caters to a lot of groups and conventions. One day, there was a massive protest about Palestine that walked directly in front of our main entrance. Hotel staff would not let anyone in or out and I got scolded trying to take a picture. Police outside also were also stopping patrons from taking photos. One thing I did not like about the room is that to operate any electrical outlets and lights, you have to keep your keycard inserted by the door. So when you leave for the day, there's no heating or air conditioning working. You may consider getting an extra keycard to keep in the slot for the day which we did for the days we were here on our own. The elevators seem to have no rhyme or reason when they get to your floor. They have a bank of four and on multiple occasions it took several minutes before arriving. My family and I overall had a nice time at Barceló México Reforma. They did their best to keep us happy. We were really impressed with the food services. I can also say that there is so much within walking distance of this hotel. We hope to return someday.

I am on a wheelchair so it is critical for me.  The day of the check in they gave us a normal room and we had to wait for 4h to get an adapted one. Once I asked, as compensation, they gave us a bottle of wine but I would encourage them to be more considerate with people with disabilities. 4h of waiting is not a 5-star experience! No matter if one is disabled or not.  I wanted a premium room but none of them are adapted. I wanted a room with a single bed but none adapted either. I wanted a room with hard floor for easy rolling, none of them are adapted. That's discriminatory. If you are paralyzed you get the worse rooms.  The bathroom adaptations are an afterthought. The bar in the shower is in the wrong place. The soap dispenser is unreachable. The toilet so close to the wall that's very hard to use. Each time I went potty it was a workout.  No other adaptations in the room. The AC remote also hanging in the wall unreachable because there if a bed in front.  The adapted rooms are dated with old carpet floors unlike the renovated ones.  The ramps to get in the hotel are too steep and slippery. The pool has stairs to get in so not a chance wheelchair users can go.  The elevator for wheelchairs is malfunctioning. When you press the L from the M floor it closes the door, then opens again, closes the doors again and then it goes. When I told them about the issue the answer I got was that "this is how it works because it was old". Funny how it doesn't do it in any other level.  I had to request towels twice. You never know what towels you will get each day. The room service is inconsistent and sometimes they knock at 7 PM to clean the room.  Randomly, someone from maintenance tried to get in the room despite the do not disturb sign.  Breakfast is good and varied. There are lines sometimes. The orange juice placed in a lower floor area out of reach of wheelchairs.  Thursday 2/19/26 we didn't get the room done despite leaving the sign to clean and being out for 7h. Not a 5-star experience. First day I had to take a tepid shower with barely any water pressure. When I asked the reception to fix it the next day it was a little warmer but the same. Hotel said it was fixed but it wasn't.  Friday 2/20/26 when we arrive from a long day the AC is not working. Maintenance comes, says they fixed and stops working by midnight.  Saturday, 2/21/26 we have to change rooms because of the AC. They said is fixed but still not cooling. One lady at reception was very unhelpful during the room change because she didn't want to let me check the new room before I packed and moved there. After waiting 4h first day for maintenance to clear the room and end up having issues she didn't understand why I wanted to check it.  310 has the correct water pressure and temperature in the shower so the issue was in the 210 not the hotel in general like we were told. Why do they lie to customers? What kind of maintenance do they run? 310 has no remote for the AC so if you are in a wheelchair you need to call someone to adjust the temperature.  In general, the hotel feels like a 3 star and if you are staying one night it might be ok. I stayed 8 nights and it was not a good experience.  I would recommend them acknowledging the issue the customers bring up. Stop gaslighting them and giving poor excuses for everything.  Fix all the issues as they come and REFORM the whole place paying attention to modern adaptations standards.

The staff was warm and accommodating, even though we only had an hour to enjoy their lovely restaurant. The food is prepared with creativity precision in high-quality. We intentionally chose this hotel for its historic location and were aware of the location in the Zócalo area, which we were completely fine with. I will say upfront that the doormen were the highlight of our experience. They were consistently welcoming, informative, and far more helpful than the front desk staff. We booked a Zócalo junior suite and made multiple efforts in advance both by phone and email to request early check-in and a higher-floor room due to potential noise from the square. Upon arrival early in the morning at six am, we were told our room wasn't ready and were handed a key to wait in a lounge area. However, no one directed us there or explained anything the doorman had to step in and assist us. Unfortunately, the lounge itself was not very clean, with crumbs visible on the couches. When check-in time approached (around 2:30 PM, slightly before their standard 3 PM), I reiterated our request for a higher floor. Despite this, we were assigned room 103. We were told no other rooms were available, even though we had been there since 6 AM. Not wanting to go back and forth, we accepted the room. After a long overnight flight (delayed nearly three hours), we went to rest. Shortly after, we were woken up by a window that would not stay shut. There was an event in the Zócalo, so noise levels were extremely high. Additionally, our room was positioned directly below portable restrooms, and there was a noticeable sewage smell. Maintenance was sent to close the window, but we were hesitant to open it again after that. Being on such a low floor also meant we had no privacy and could not comfortably open the windows anyway. The following day, before leaving for the pyramids, I called the front desk (in Spanish) to request room cleaning and additional towels. When we returned around 2 PM, nothing had been done. Upon calling again, I was told that I had requested "room service," which was incorrect. There was no apology only blame. When housekeeping eventually came by, I had to gather trash myself from the bathroom and we were informed (for the first time) that a sign needed to be placed outside the door to receive service. This was never explained during check-in. Over the course of our four-day stay, our room was cleaned only once. The room itself had several issues. The air conditioning did not work properly and made loud noises throughout the night, leaving us waking up overheated. Because of our room location, opening the windows was not a viable option. The shower was also unsafe the handle was loose and nearly came off when I grabbed it, causing me to almost slip and fall. There were also loose electrical outlets in the bathroom, which was concerning. Additionally, our room consistently smelled like sewage, even though the hallways and lobby did not. The lobby itself was often overcrowded with visitors taking photos of the ceiling, making it difficult to move through at times. The room also did not match what was advertised online. The beds were not the four-poster style shown in photos instead, they were standard beds with a detached headboard that repeatedly knocked against the wall throughout the night. Overall, this stay was very disappointing. Between the lack of cleanliness, poor service, and room issues, it did not meet expectations especially for a hotel of this reputation. While we understood and accepted the challenges of the location, the service and room conditions were the main concerns. Unfortunately, I would not choose to stay here again, and part of me wishes we could receive some form of refund for the experience. Tips: For those traveling don't stay here if you don't want to walk to your uber especially late at night. If there are events that will result in street closures you will have to walk even further to get an uber. There was protests in the zocalo when we were there. At night the homeless come out and sleep around the area and right by the hotel. Ask for a higher floor or take ear plugs cus you won't be able to sleep there is a bar or a club somewhere that plays music till 3 am.

The food did not even give us an upset stomach, unlike one from a more upscale hotel, which gave my husband food poisoning within hours. The hotel is central and is a short Uber ride away to most of the attractions. There are also bus and metro stops near by. The rooms are reasonably comfortable. With a little attention and effort, the hotel can become a 4-star hotel. (It is currently 3-star in Expedia.) One thing to note: Mexico City night temperatures dip into the 30's and the hotel does not have blankets, just space heaters that guests can request.
