It's situated in a very quiet location among fields of local crop blood oranges, conveniently located between NAS Sigonella I and II, near A19 autostrada, and 15-20 minutes for Catania and Catania airport. This fattoria has a variety of animals such as goats, peacocks, pigs, chickens, horses, gerbils, turkeys, dogs, and even a tortoise. While it has a remote location that may be difficult to find, the tranquility and cleanliness is something that can't be found in the chaotic hurried mess in Catania. It served as a great base for me for 6 nights and Clelia (one of the owners) is a wonderful host along with Enrico (the groundskeeper). While Clelia does not speak English, she did not hesitate to make me feel welcome like one of the local guests. Breakfast is included, including freshly brewed coffee or cappuccino, homemade Sicilian cake, marmalade, and juices. Yogurt, cereal, and bread are also offered. There is an optional home cooked 4 course dinner for 20 euros extra per person including their house wine which varies day to day. The room I stayed in was spacious and clean, including a full size bed, bunkbed, desk, and TV. The restroom is simple with a shower. Only shampoo and liquid handsoap is provided. However, there is no wifi in the bedrooms. The property is well maintained and secured by a gate and the owners have control over entry and exit. Agritourism isn't for everyone, especially those looking for fancy options but after checking into a hotel elsewhere after my farmstay I immediately felt alone again and wanted to return to the farm. It was definitely my home away from home while experience the highlights nearby.
