But it feels a little tired and the rooms are in need of a renovation. It also took me a while to figure out how to get the room to cool off. There are signs not to open the large windows as there are bugs outside, so that led me to playing around with the air conditioning unit to get it to blow cold air instead of the hot it seemingly wanted to blow. The bed was not my favorite as it was a little soft for me, but the linens were fresh and there were plenty of towels in the bathroom. There is a large breakfast area located down at the end of the lobby. I was leaving too early for the breakfast so I missed the buffet but it looked good as they were setting it up. It is close to downtown Catania so that's a plus (definitely walking distance) and the Catania airport is about 15 minutes away by cab. The front desk staff can make you a taxi reservation if you need one. All in all a good night's sleep before continuing on my journey home.

Breakfast in the little patio is lovely and Marco, the owner helps you to organize the best tour and the yoummiest dinner. In the area ther are a lot of great restaurants my favourites are Marricriu, Santi e Briganti and osteria Agostiniana. The only problems is that you have to reserve this place in advance since marco has only feed rooms!

As we showed up without reservations, Marco hadn't planned for breakfast in the morning so discounted the room price. What a gentleman he is. He's very attuned to the tourist aspects of the area so spent at least an hour giving us detailed recommendations that all proved to be invaluable. Because of him, we made some discoveries we'd have entirely missed. He speaks good English. As for the location, it is right in the midst of midtown Fiumefreddo with every restaurant and attraction within a few minutes walk. We worried about parking. Marco has slots right there, curb-side for his guests. He even invited us to leave our car there the next day so we could walk the town without parking hassles. The price is very reasonable especially considering the manger Anna who is available all hours, went with us on the first night to find secure parking and has been full of good suggestions. We had to stay in Catania for one extra night and he ensured we could keep our room for that time. His helpfulness and kindness was not unnoticed. His associate who's name I did not get; but worked the night of July 5, was extremely helpful trying to help me find an open pharmacy to get medications as I had developed an illness and needed help. All the kindness of Hôtel Villa Romeo is never going to be forgotten by me and I will recommend to anyone staying in the area.
