(Shout out to Megan at the bar in Eden's restaurant... she is awesome! ) We didn't have a sit down meal here but did experience the eggplant fries which are vegan and gluten free and incredibly delicious.... If we were staying longer I would definitely explore more of their menu options. Our room is a beautiful mix of history and contemporary. Comfortable and accommodating! AMAZING historical spot and what an experience to stay in one of the bath houses, with the added warmth of a tub filled with the hot springs, it was just the best time when you can splurge with beautiful amenities, coffee room service in the morning before a freshly prepared breakfast in the lobby with more coffee. With your car valet parked, your morning is easily maneuverable to go to one of the operating bath houses and enjoy the smallest national park. Sleep like a princess in a great bed, quiet room and wrapped up in a robe after the relaxing soak in mineral water. They even provided chilled water that tasted wonderful. Good "bed and breakfast," hotel. They called me on the phone to find out when I would be arriving. I had paid for valet parking. There is a small indent in the road about two buildings from the hotel that has room for three vehicles. That's where you go for valet parking. The valet came out with a luggage caddy to take my stuff in. While I was checking in, they put the luggage in my room. The room was pleasant and the bed firm. They had two chocolate chip cookies waiting. The front desk person showed us how to access the mineral hot spring water. The room had two robes, an iron, ironing board, television, table and chairs, and a fridge with a carafe of mineral water. Being able to take multiple mineral baths is the major benefit. We went down to the restaurant and enjoyed happy hour. Had a great spicy mango drink. We order the burger and the potato skins (or more like spears). Both were good. Next time, I would have probably stuck to the burger only next time since the portion was huge and there were some unique french fries. The staff was super friendly and talkative. The restaurant was pretty empty. The only negatives to the room were: The bathroom could have been a bit cleaner (I saw hairs and one of the grab bars was loose) The smell of natural gas in the building. Obviously, this is a very old building and I'm sure the equipment leaks, but at night it became worse and worse. It wasn't until the morning that I figured out how to open the door to the outside. We wanted a hotel within walking distance of the Hot Springs historic district and chose Hotel Hale over the Hilton across the street, mainly for the unique experience of enjoying the thermal bath waters in-room and staying in a historic bathhouse. The difference in price was about $80, including valet. Hotel Hale also included breakfast, which was one of the best we've had at a hotel in a long time, and we avoided the long valet line at the Hilton when checking out. That said, the experience didn't live up to the luxury price tag. From the moment we checked in, we were given "lessons" on how to operate basic things: the elevator (with only two floors), the stairs (warned we might end up in the basement), the door (a dramatic demonstration of how to hold the key and swing an arm), and even the tub and TV remote. The owner repeated these instructions multiple times, and while perhaps well-intentioned, it felt condescending and unnecessary. The one thing we actually did need help with (the bedside lights) wasn't explained. There were cookies available next to the bed, on the bedside table, however ours were quite hard and not very good. It was pleasant having mineral water in the fridge, available for request from the front desk (not something we felt comfortable doing based on our experience). Btw, the mineral water tastes like regular spring water. Instead of feeling like valued guests, we felt like teenagers being supervised. It was disappointing, especially compared to other hotels on our trip where staff were genuinely welcoming. The historic setting and breakfast were highlights, but the overall atmosphere was deflating. In the end, staying in a bathhouse was interesting, but not worth the extra cost. Heard about the Hotel Hale while visiting Hot Springs in 2022 and now had the opportunity to stay there. Oh boy, was it worth the wait! So old school, a definite white glove experience, including excellent service and attention to detail. On the day of my arrival, Heather called me mid-morning to ask my general ETA and give me tips on how to park "near" for off-loading luggage since the hotel is on the main street and has no direct car access. I wanted a room with seating so selected the "Libby" which has a cafe table plus 2 chairs. Loved this room, though mind you, it's street-side. Lots of light and I thought it was very quiet, even for May. Heather took me to my room and showed me how to carefully fill up the tub without burning myself. The water is SUPER HOT, and really, you can fill it with cool water and be totally rejuvenated. I later returned to the front desk and bought some bath salts w/CBD and was given a $25 gift certificate for the neighboring store where the salts were sold. The bath was divine, what else can I say? I stayed in the bath maybe a half hour and was a complete noodle afterwards. Heather also showed me the mineral water in a carafe (in the mini fridge), homemade cookies from Eden Bakery, homemade soap, as well as fresh robes, towels, etc. Breakfast is part of the room cost and served 8-9a, so before retiring, I handed in the my selected menu items. You have a choice of Bacon/Spinach or Spinach/Feta Quiche, Hard Boiled Egg, Greek Yogurt, Fresh Fruit, Muffin, and Juice...or you can have it all! You can also have a full carafe of coffee delivered to your room in the morning! With cream! The king bed was firm...YAY! plus you can control the thermostat to your liking. Upon check out, I asked where I could get BBQ to go. I was told to visit Stubby"s BBQ and happily relayed "The mayor sent me!" The hotel owner and mayor (one and the same) also does the valet car-parking ($25 - what a bargain). Everyone at the hotel was friendly and personable and f. I'm sad to say I was less than impressed with my experience at Hotel Hale. We were pretty excited to spend a night here and had been debating prior to our arrival if we should change plans to extend our stay. Boy are we glad we did not. The cons: - we were both surprised that the bathtubs weren't a little roomier. For having the mineral bath be such a selling point of staying at the Hale we thought it'd be a nicer set up. - we were told the mineral water would come out very hot so we should fill the tub, let it set, and then bathe. After filling the tub and letting it set for a while we discovered that you could actually pipe in cold hot spring water. Seems like an oxymoron, that. And we really should've figured that out sooner, but we were going off the information provided. - the complimentary homemade cookies, while a nice touch, were both rather disgusting. - the breakfast was sub-par. The quiche was the best part but everything else was truly lacking. And despite having a juicer in the front with oranges in it, they do not offer fresh orange juice with breakfast. That's a weekend specialty only. The orange juice they serve during the week is cartoned and nothing special. - the rooms aren't sound proof. We heard the staff knocking on the other doors delivering coffee in the morning. - the antique architecture, while beautiful, didn't seem well maintained and gave off a worn down feel instead of an old time luxury feel. For the prices of the rooms we expected better upkeep. - the room we were in didn't have any privacy when it came to the windows. We had to keep the curtains drawn as we faced the main street and were only on the second floor. The pros: - we enjoyed the king bed and the exposed brick wall in our room. - we appreciated the access to fresh water and that we could refill our water on our own from the fridge downstairs. - the complimentary coffee/tea/hot chocolate option was a nice touch - but as for the hot chocolate taste it was sub-par. read more

I stayed at Hotel Hale one night in November for my Birthday on a trip with my mom. I came across Hotel Hale and saw how unique it was and I was super excited to stay here vs. a generic hotel. I am so glad I did! It was worth the extra money and the experience was fantastic! The customer service was great when making the reservation and every contact with staff during the stay was excellent. The property is small enough where they remember all of the guests by name and those small little details about you. I arrived a few minutes too early to check in but I was able to leave my luggage before going to walk around town. Check in was super easy and a member of the staff give you a quick tour of your room to show you how to work everything. There is fresh spring water in the room along with fresh baked cookies. My mom and I stayed in the Quapaw room which I believe is the only one with two beds in it which was perfect for us. The back door opened up to a wooded area. The use of valet was super simple and you only had to give the front desk a few minutes heads up so they can run down the road and grab your car. Breakfast in the morning was super yummy. Upon check in, you are provided a check list to indicate what items you would like for breakfast. I checked everything off and received everything. It was all fresh and delicious. The property is beautiful, super clean and walking distance to all of the stores, restaurants and spa downtown. You are a couple minute drive to the observation tower in Hot Springs. I highly recommend Hotel Hale and would absolutely stay there again if ever in Hot Springs! read more

Stopped in for a meal and drinks which I have to say was enjoyable. But what really put a damper on it was the owners attitude and the way he spoke down to his employees. He was arrogant and used a very belittling tone and for this alone I will not return. Built in the late 1800's and restored beautifully. From the front desk, to house keeping everyone was fantastic. Mineral water waiting in your refrigerator to the fresh baked cookies on the night stand, it is perfection. Fresh brewed coffee delivered to your room in the morning and then a delicious brunch downstairs. I can't speak highly enough of this gem. We never made it to experience a stay at the hotel. Due to my cancer the doctor changed my chemo and chemo schedule, which I have no control over. I had to cancel our two rooms and three night stays. We were charged $210.00 for cancellation fee. The male owner said they have to stick to the policy and I had the room tied up for 60 days with booking. Both rooms tied up for 60 days. I was going to book in September to stay, but did not do as they are inflexible and uncaring. Said he understood. No he didn't as he is not going through chemo or dealing with his cruel self. Southern charm and hospitality does not exist at Hotel Hale sadly. I did find another hotel to take us in September that far exceeds southern charm along with respecting peoples unique situations. They wouldn't stop apologizing for Hotel Hale and made it clear they are not the norm for hotels who care in Hot Springs. Made me cry that I was overwhelmed from their kindness. I understand policy but it should be put in writing prior to booking a reservation not afterwards. read more

Sign said open, door didn't open so we walked away then a gray haired gentleman came out the other door and instead of saying" come on in,we're open" he said in an aggressive manner " can I help you"? I said we wanted to come in for brunch but the door wasn't open, he the replied" well the open sign is on" ! I told him the door was still locked then he said I should have tried the other one. Thing is, proper etiquette is the go in the right door and other people come out the left so I told him if he was going to be a smartass, we'll pass and go somewhere else. We stayed at Hotel Hale on a weeknight, just for a night away from the kids. The staff works hard to be accomodating and it was a lovely stay. Especially liked the large tub and no immediate hotel neighbors to our room. Felt very private. Much appreciation to the family running this great spot in the middle of bathhouse row. One of the best experiences we have ever had. We just got done hiking and we were not sure we were dressed appropriately but they didn't mind. The owner walked us back himself. He happens to be the mayor of Hot Springs. He was so kind. His staff was more than excellent. We were here for happy hour. We had a home made cream soda for kids and 2 cakes. Draft beer and a cocktail. Nothing disappointing! They treated us like family. We had the gooey butter cake and I cannot say enough about that dessert! The chocolate cake was also gooey and great! We purchased a small Hummingbird cake from the Eden bakery at this hotel. It looked very pleasing. It cost about $15. It was terrible. First, it was dry. Second, there was no banana flavor at all. Third, yikes.... there was no any kind of flavor. Just a kind of brown cake. We were passing by the Hotel the next day, and I stopped by just to make sure we were given the Hummingbird cake and not something else. Turns out per the cashier that the baker is vegan and doesn't taste anything. Oh my oh my! If that's truly the case, he needs to get recipes from someone who has tasted the recipe! The cutest little locally owned boutique hotel! If you're into history, this little spot is a must stay. It is the oldest bath house on bath house row and some of the interior is original. There are 9 total rooms. It is the only hotel in the area that has the hot springs water pumped into it. Each room has a bath tub in it to enjoy the hot springs water. As I'm a huge bath fan, this was a major draw. The room we stayed in was decorated in all mid century modern furnishings. Complimentary breakfast was not just the average hotel buffet. Options are provided and the daily coffee room service (Starbucks coffee I think) was such a nice treat. While we were there, we never drove anywhere. But valet is the best option as parking is difficult. (The loading area in front of the Fordyce Bath house is where valet will meet you. Do call ahead so they are ready for you.) The customer service was impeccable. So much more personal than a chain hotel. The owner is the mayor of Hot Springs and on our day leaving, he actually brought our car around! How many hotels have you gone to where the mayor brings you your car? Absolutely recommend and will be visiting it (and the amazing restaurant) again soon. read more

Disclaimer: I have not stayed or eaten here so take that into consideration. But, this place made me want too stay and eat here as soon as I walked in. This place immediately draws you in with their nicely lit entry, living plants on the walls, friendly staff, local speciality lotion that is to die for (my hands smelled amazing the rest of the day), and the building that reeks of history. This place is also centrally located along the strip. They as well have a hot springs cave inside that is just cool to gawk at. First off, we were given no guidance or direction about valet parking until we called them upon arrival. If you expect to drive up to a "front door", you will be discombobulated. Secondly, it is disconcerting when I pay 5 star prices, only to feel awkward to walk upon most of the staff smoking outside the exterior door throughout our stay. While the owners take their time to make sure you don't overfill their bathtubs, they neglect to let you know you should request cleaning services if you stay multiple days....place a hanging tag the " correct way".... To get one's room cleaned...at almost 300.00 a night..,(their cleaning staff has a total of 9 rooms to clean). While a fresh baked cookie, in your room, and a tiny rubber duckie, near your bath...,should make you feel special, it is the bigger things that need attention to justify the expense. We ate at the restaurant Eden for our 41st wedding anniversary....and trust me, I mentioned that repeatedly..,.our waitress was also the bartender. Our service was mediocre! Additionally, I called and spoke to one of the owners about a reference for a place for mani/pedis...noting they could take their time responding to my request s...,and I never heard back from them. Yet, in numerous public ads, they profess to being able to set up appointments for a customer. Either walk the walk and talk the talk...or not. But, I paid over 700.00 for two nights of hotel service, and I regret my choice. read more

I thought we would have a good experience based on the reviews I found beforehand, but our experience surpassed our expectations completely! First and foremost, the staff is AMAZING. Everyone was beyond friendly and always more than accommodating. We were pleasantly surprised to find out when we arrived that there is coffee/tea/soda service each morning brought to the room. There is a VERY yummy breakfast each weekday morning and a fabulous brunch in the restaurant on weekends. We ate in the restaurant on three different evenings - yes, it is that good. The drinks, apps, and entrees cannot be beat. Very unique selections and very generous portions to boot. The rooms are SO clean!!! We stayed in the Buckstaff, and it was just the right size for my husband and me. Huge closet, dresser with lots of drawers, and a table that made for a nice landing spot for goodies we brought back. The bed and pillows are the most comfortable we have ever had in a hotel. The soaking tub for the mineral bath in the room was crazy comfortable. What I found especially impressive is how often the owner (and mayor) and his wife are actually present to assist the staff. They clearly pitch in whenever and wherever they are needed - the teamwork shown was above and beyond. Right now, when staffing is a challenge in every industry, and when people are getting burnt out - that was very refreshing to see. It does seems too good to be true, but we stayed 4 days/5 nights and the experience was consistent throughout. I have a feeling they make everyone feel like family when there - it's obvious they enjoy hosting people and genuinely care about people, too. By the way, I have never written a review this long, but it was that good, and I still don't feel like I did our experience justice. read more

Made this reservation with the intent of going but a snafu with air reservations made it unrealistic. Found out and put in a cancellation request less than 24 hours later as an option to move our dates was evidently not able to be accommodated. We wanted to make sure to give them immediate notice so they wouldn't realistically be impacted and could rebook the room. Almost a month goes by and no confirmation of cancellation was provided. Called today to find out that they didn't cancel the reservation and are charging us $70 to do so- had they done it immediately, they wouldn't have been impacted. Sergio, the person we spoke with this time around, said it was at the direction of Pat and Ellen McCabe. We had originally intended on rebooking but this is truly poor customer service. I'm local. I had brunch in the restaurant at the Hale today. My favorite brunch is a smoked salmon Benedict, which is hard to find, so I was happy to see it on the menu. Big mistake! I'd like to say something nice about this meal, but I can't. The service was slow, and the food took forever, even though they weren't busy at all. The food arrived barely warm, and it was nothing like the smoked salmon Benedicts I've enjoyed in the past. The salmon, what there was of it, was soggy, mushy, and flavorless. I'd have sent it back and ordered something else, but my friend had limited time, and the food had already taken too long, so who knows how much longer another dish would have taken? I managed some of it. Won't be back. Stay there, fine, but downtown Hot Springs has many better places to eat, and most are cheaper. read more

The Hale is a unique & special boutique hotel. Unique because it's in one of the lovely, historic bath houses & has the natural hot springs thermal water piped right into your room's luxury tub. Special because of the excellent, attentive, friendly personal service provided by the proprietors & staff. With only 9 rooms, they make you feel welcome & cared for. In addition, the in house restaurant The Eden is excellent. Breakfast is included & wonderful. Also enjoyed cocktails & dinner. Hotel location is perfect for walking to sights, restaurants & shops. Don't be put off by lack of on-site parking. Pay for their valet service which is easy, convenient & well worth the reasonable price. My only criticism (why I deducted a star) is the room furnishings. They don't fit the atmosphere of the hotel & are not conducive to relaxing in the room -which you want to do after taking your thermal bath. Our room (the Libby) had a metal table with metal chairs -more suitable for a patio or cafe than a hotel room. Please replace with 2 comfortable chairs & side table. Mattress was good but close to needing replacing. Room could use a bit of color & nicer wall decor. We visit Hot Springs often & I would happily stay here again but with room upgrades I wouldn't ever consider staying anywhere else. read more

Adore this place. Two years ago I came in with my partner on a whim, and landed a walk-in reservation. This past visit to hot springs we decided to come back and stay two nights, we loved the first stay so much. This place has the loveliest and most genuine hotel staff. You feel like you're in a sweet little bed and breakfast, but with upscale room accommodations. Free brunch on weekends, coffee delivered to the room at your time of choosing, and endless hot mineral water straight from the springs to your room. It's fantastic. read more

I will be general here as I could write pages of accolades . Every person on staff was welcoming , kind , professional . All areas from the stairwell to rooms are immaculate . Service is top notch in the restaurant , valets , front desk and room service . We had two of three dinners in Eden , the hotel restaurant and wish we had chosen to have our third dinner there too. Meals were SO good and the servers were attentive and prompt . Our room was beautiful , mattress very comfortable , soaking tub over the moon luxury . WIFI fast and easy connection. The soap and lotions available in the lobby I liked so much I filled a bag for gifts and the coffee is really good too so I brought some for back home . Oh .. and the mineral water kept me hydrated and my husband and I both say best tasting water which we will remember when we get home ! We have absolutely not one negative to say about Hotel Hale . Pat let us know the Hot Spring water was pumped into the personal tubs of each room. I must admit this place was outside of our normal hotel price range but after a day of hiking we took the plunge and it was worth it!! The staff was extremely friendly, kind and hospitable. They bring coffee to your room in the morning. You'll have a seat saved for brunch. Moreover, Pat was personable and made us feel like guests of honor. Absolutely wonderful place to stay! The entire hotel and lobby was extremely clean and well kept. Staff is friendly and goes above and beyond to ensure your stay is comfortable- They even helped my husband to arrange to have a chocolate cake waiting on us in our room upon check in since it was my birthday (it was delicious!). The cookies left on our bedside tables were amazingly yummy. The tub with natural mineral water was really cool- the kids enjoyed the deep bathtub! Breakfast was a very nice touch and tasted amazing. I can't say enough about how great our stay was! We will definitely be back and recommend our family and friends come stay if ever in town. We had a reservation for early May. I needed to reschedule it due to 3 kids activities I have no control over being scheduled during the time we had scheduled and was told we have to pay $35 per night to cancel or reschedule this reservation. They say each reservation is an individual reservation and we will be charged the $35 per night even if I rescheduled. To say this was an AMAZING stay is under statement !! My husband & I travel a lot & it's not very often you find a hidden gem like this. Everything about the stay was perfect starting with the personal service given by the owners to the amazing bartender (by far the best drinks in the state of Arkansas ) the very attentive staff goes above & beyond to make the stay unforgettable !! It's rare for me to say that I want to go back and visit just a specific hotel. Most of the time they are a place to sleep and I can take it or leave it. This place I am already dreaming of coming back and wondering when I can squeeze in a trip to visit. The staff are amazing. The people really make the place for sure! Loved having a great breakfast available daily and we drank a few gallons of the mineral water. The baths were awesome and the hotel is charming. I would say my only negative is that we ordered dinner one night (it was a last minute decision because everything else was closed/closing/long wait) and well it was just okay (3.75 stars out of 5). The charcuterie board was a 10 but the main course was only okay otherwise. I chose something simple after a long day. My burger wasn't seasoned which was disappointing. However they were having some staff issues so we were able to give them grace on it. read more
