Good Fortune Rooftop Bar Love the vibe. Overlooks Old Town Alexandria. Nice oversized comfortable sofas. There was a DJ that was spinning some tunes so that was a nice surprise.

We came for a day party event. Vibes were on point -- good music, mature crowd, and a cozy rooftop space. Definitely recommend reserving a spot if there's an event happening, it can fill up quick. Drinks were solid, food was decent. I'd go again for sure.

I read some of the lower reviews on this site and noticed that they were for Good Fortune bar (rooftop bar), not the actual hotel itself. The hotel opened in June of 2024 and was simply beautiful and stunning. I loved the newly renovated interior and the lovely boutique hotel. You will no the disappointed but the hotel. However, there are a few things that could be improved, as noted, below. Service (3/5): At check-in, Rosie was amazing to explain everything but upon check out, the lady was confused. When we went to check out the next morning, the lady at the front didn't actually credit us for our free drinks - we had to ask twice for a new receipt. Instead of admitting she made a mistake, she said, "the details showed the discount." No, the details came up with completely different final bill....I really hate it when I have to be the one to explain things to those that work there. What could be easily taken care of (through training, etc) it leaves it to the customer to have to pay more attention. Value (3/5): The hotel room itself seemed like a deal, but the confusion in the actual amenities left me a bit discouraged. There is an automatic $25 charge (amenity fee) that is automatically charged. You MUST use it in the attached bar/restaurant, KILN, or you lose it. That hardly seems fair seeing that KILN doesn't have breakfast other than a take away pastry and not a good lunch option. We had a "two free drinks" from Hotels.com (ie, Expedia) that we were told we could use at the speakeasy, Francis Hall. While we were there, the server was confused and said that we could not use them here but she would make an exception for us. Valet was $45 a day for parking which seems a lot for Old Town Alexandria. We saw a lot a block away that was $10 per day. Location (5/5): Just a block of King street, this hotel is in the BEST part of town.

Great new spot in Old Town, much needed rooftop Real Estate that gives you beautiful 360 views of downtown Alexandria and the river. The drinks were great and the hotel is beautiful. There's a small food menu available on the roof with full service restaurant on the first level.

The cutest hotel in old town Alexandria! It was super convenient, being walkable to anything you can imagine! The staff was so lovely and the rooms were absolutely charming! We took advantage of the rooftop bar and it was lovely with sweeping views of old town! The staff was so lovely and even gave us complimentary drinks! I'd highly recommend making hotel heron part of your stay!

    Cool cabinet, heron themed!

The room was very pretty, very clean, and had plenty of space! The bathroom was very elegant. Hotel staff were friendly and allow you to leave bags with them for safekeeping before or after you've checked out if you are sightseeing. Pretty good location too, and easy to get into DC using Uber/Lyft/train. King Street is right there too, and has lots of good shopping and restaurants. The only cons are the water pressure is a little low in the shower, but still pretty good. The AC control is also quite bright and we couldn't figure out how to turn off the light at nighttime! The $25 credit for the hotel restaurant, Kiln, wouldn't go too far with their food prices. We got a cheesecake for $16 which was just alright. Overall, though this is a great value and we would consider it again if we were visiting DC!

Enjoyed the rooftop DJ set this past Saturday over Labor Day weekend. Although the drinks were watered down the music was extremely loud and the food was disgusting. Don't think I'll ever come back.

Embassy Suites by Hilton Alexandria Old Town - April 2026…read more In planning for a 2026 visit from my sister, we focused on how best to experience the Cherry Blossom Festival in the Tidal Basin and the Jefferson Memorial in Washington, D.C. She would be arriving on Amtrak from Wilmington, and my apartment is in Old Town Alexandria, so we looked for hotels adjacent to Metro's King Street station (which serves Amtrak, the VRE, and the Yellow and Blue rail lines, in addition to several bus lines. There are several excellent hotel choices at King Street station, but one that stands out is the Embassy Suites, right across the street from the Amtrak/Metro rail station. The hotel is family-friendly, spacious, clean, and safe. There's a wonderful made-from-scratch breakfast for all guests, along with a 90-minute happy hour featuring complimentary drinks (2 per person) in the early evening. My sister's room was ready when we arrived at around 3 p.m., and as we checked her in we found the room's TV welcomed us by name. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom was equipped with sustainable dispensers for the shower (no single-use plastics in the room). The room was quiet and remained that way throughout the two nights my sister stayed there. During our stay the presence of families with young children was evident - kids were clearly enjoying themselves and were exploring features of the hotel geared especially for young children. We found hotel staff members helpful, not intrusive, and alert to the needs of the hotel's guests. On the same street half a block away there's Theismann's Restaurant & Bar, which offers a full bar and a well-crafted menu of moderate- to high-priced American dishes. I've recommended nearby hotels in the past, and those recommendations remain. I can now add the Embassy Suites to the list. It offers ready access to the entire District-Maryland-Virginia region served by Metro and related regional public transit services, and is a great point of embarkation when exploring Northern Virginia and D.C.

He also said nothing about breakfast or the time for it. Please let's do better with customer service.

Hyatt Centric Old Town Alexandria, Virginia…read more When Bruce Springsteen announced he and the E Street Band would be performing at Nationals Stadium in D.C., I reached out to family and friends to see if they could be in town for the show. When my sister responded that she could make the show I immediately looked for a hotel in Old Town Alexandria (VA). I've lived in Alexandria for 14 years and believe we're well served by the hotels operating locally. Because she would be arriving from New York on Amtrak, I looked for hotels in Alexandria that are within walking distance of the King Street Metro station. There's an Embassy Suites, a Hampton Inn, a Hilton, and a Hyatt Centric, all within a five-minute walk from the Metro station. Right from the start the experience was a good one. My reservation was quickly recognized, as was my membership in the World of Hyatt, Hyatt's loyalty program. I was able to cover the cost of two nights ($580.92, including taxes, total for the two nights) when I checked my sister into the hotel. The hotel is perfectly located for using the Metro bus and rail lines (a five minute walk to Metro's Yellow and Blue lines and bus lines) - including the bus that will take you across the river to the MGM Grand Hotel in Oxon Hill, Maryland. There's also a free bus and trolley circulator and free DASH buses that all share a bus stop directly across the street from the hotel. The bar is well stocked and staffed by friendly and courteous bar staff. There's a valet service (best to check first about the cost - I think it was $45 per night but I didn't need it so I'm not sure I have the price right). The Hyatt Centric Old Town is probably the newest of the national brand hotels located near the King Street Metro station. It's clean, reasonably priced for the area, and as far as I can tell it's a safe and secure option for visitors to the DMV (District, Maryland, and Virginia).

They have valet here and the valet folks were really busy, but accommodating when we needed to quickly drop off our vehicle. The guy checking me in upgraded me to a suite, which was a nice surprise. The common areas in this hotel were beautiful and kept up nicely. When we got to the room it was nicely set up and quite large. The bathroom wasn't very impressive though, it featured a tub with shower curtain - many nicer properties have been updated to remove the tubs and replace them with shower systems. The other issue with this tub was that it didn't drain well, which wasn't fun when taking a shower. The TV in the room was kind of small for how big the room was and how far away the TV was from the bed. Also, the TV had streaming services, but no Pluto. I've been loving having Pluto on Marriott TVs lately. The bed was comfy and the HVAC worked well and wasn't too loud. Overall, it was a nice stay, even though we literally got there around 5PM and put our bags in the room and left, staying out past midnight before returning, then waking up, showering, and heading out around 9AM. So, we weren't there nor in the room very long, but it was perfect for our needs. I'd stay here again.

I love almost everything about this hotel. All the pros and some minor gripes, including individual…read moreratings of each, are as follows: LOCATION (5/5) We couldn't have chosen a better place to stay for our first visit to Alexandria. It's right across the street from the waterfront on Union Street, like two blocks over from King Street. About a two minute walk to the shops. Absolutely beautiful area. Extremely easy to get around from here. PARKING (4/5) There was some street parking available on the weekdays we were here, but the weekend was crowded. The hotel has an underground parking garage but it is available to both hotel guests (for an extra daily fee) AND the general public. While spaces were plentiful during the week, the company that manages the garage absolutely stuffs it full on weekends. I'm talking cars parked 2-3 deep, so if you need to leave quickly, you're SOL. Giving this a 4/5 because we didn't have to deal with parking out in town and never had to leave quickly. If we did, my rating would be a lot lower, eek! PRICE & VALUE FOR THE $ (5/5) Rooms include a ton of perks, such as a $50 daily credit for the restaurant on-site (Hummingbird), a $15 daily credit for the market in the lobby, and discounts at a handful of nearby shops. FACILITY (4/5) The hotel is beautiful inside and out. I found the artwork hung in the rooms a bit funky/mismatched and the frame sizes were odd (very small) for the size of the rooms. At least they tried, lol. One of my biggest gripes, though, is the barn door on the in-room bathroom. The door doesn't close all the way and is sort of held shut by a little latch. I stayed in the room with my elderly mom and teen daughter... we each appreciate our privacy in the bathroom. We couldn't use the room's full-size mirror hanging by the door because if we did, we'd be looking right into the partially-open bathroom when someone was in there. It was weird. Wouldn't have been as bad if it were just my husband and I, but... not a fan. Aside from that, the room was clean and modern. We had a tiny sliver of a view of water. In hindsight, I wish I would've asked for a full water view! FOOD (5/5) This hotel does NOT have a traditional dining room and buffet-type breakfast. However, Hummingbird is accessible from the lobby/elevator area and is absolutely DELICIOUS. See my other review about Hummingbird for images and details. Our reservation (the one that includes breakfast) included a $50 daily credit to the restaurant which was awesome. We actually saved money doing it this way... we didn't pay much more for the "with breakfast" reservation than the "without" one, maybe $20 more? So a $50 credit was well worth it. STAFF (100/5) The very best part of the stay by far. Marshay, Marshay, Marshay. She was AMAZING. We had so many questions about the area and our stay. She was so sweet and patient with our questions, gave us so much amazing advice about the area, remembered us when we'd stop at the desk each day to use our market credits, and was just generally so pleasant. Every time we saw her, she just seemed so happy and excited about her job and helping guests. Hotel Indigo is lucky to have her. OVERALL (5/5) I would absolutely stay here again. In fact, next time we visit the area, we *will* stay here again. Excellent experience! Side note: Another review mentions no cell phone service here. We have AT&T and had zero issues. Cell service was strong and the hotel's WiFi worked smoothly as I worked on my laptop each evening.
