And the nespresso coffee machine did not work - they overcharged me for touristtax (double of what i should have paid). Luckily, i checked the bill. It was the perfect balance of everything. We were in room 218 & had a wonderful unobstructed view of the church steeple. The room was beautiful, clean and had updated modern/elegant finishes. The shower and bathtubs were luxurious. The only thing may be that not everyone is comfortable with glass showcasing the tub. I was sharing the room with my daughter and she would have preferred privacy in her bathtub. My wife and I enjoyed our night though as a previous reviewer wrote, the floors can be a bit squeaky so we were able to sometimes hear our neighbors directly above us. The location is fantastic as there are plenty of shopping areas and restaurants. You're only a short walk to the historic downtown area as well as the train station. Parking is located about 50 meters from the hotel and the cost is 24 Euro for the night. The breakfast is 21 Euro which is a bit pricey but the food and service was excellent. The staff made omelets and freshly squeezed orange juice. If you're looking to save a few Euro there are plenty of breakfast options in the area. The room itself was very modern and comfortable and should we find ourselves back in the area we would stay here again.

Soft, bouncy, beds that were fairly uncomfortable but given we were only there for 2 nights, it was no big deal. The heating was super strong & we ended up opening the windows. Water pressure was decent and aside from the shuttle mishap, it was an A-OK stay. We would ask for a room away from the elevator if considering a future stay but would check out other hotels first

The parking was also good, underground and included in our room rate. Breakfast was excellent with many diverse choices. Those with smaller appetites though may wish to skip the 14 euro charge and just get a coffee on the square. A major disappointment was no air conditioning anywhere. While we understand this is a northern climate, it can and does get quite hot in Germany. Indeed it was 31 C the day we stayed. City areas are noisy with people leaving bars between 12-2 am (we've found this to be true all over Western Europe), and even with ear plugs it can be noisy. Other hotels in Aachen, I e the Novotel , are air conditioned so I think this would also be a good addition. The other weird thing was no ice. The person at the desk gave me a glass and said there are no ice machines anywhere in Germany, something I find difficult to believe. The internet charge is 5 euro, which is not so bad. But, only one device can be logged in at the same time. A second person logging in to the same room kicks off the first, and one has to re-enter all the information about the room and check out date, etc. Quite annoying, and very fixable I think. All in all the aquis grana would be ok for a visit in fall or winter, but in summer I'd recommend getting a hotel with a/c of which there are several to choose from in Aachen.

The location was further enhanced by several eating establishments nearby. The exterior suggested a vintage feel and the interior confirmed it. The lobby was cozy and the front desk service was efficient and polite. I was assigned a room on the fourth level and found it to be clean and surprisingly spacious. The work area was adequate and the bathroom was sufficiently roomy to allow maneuverability. The WiFi was free of charge and worked well during my stay. The bed was comfortable and the environs were adequately quiet to allow me to get good sleep. The view from the room looked over a construction lot; as such, it was nothing special. The breakfast was quite good as it featured the hot and cold choices one would expect. In addition to eggs and meat, there were also good bread options with yogurt, cereals, cold meats, cheese and fruit. The dining room was adequately spacious such that one did not feel cramped. My room rate was 140 euros. I thought this was reasonable and represented a decent value. In general, I was happy with my stay here. We had been looking for a B&B that would have sort of a cottage-feel to it but instead we found this hotel that totally made the cut! So, fresh room, nice interior but sadly the beds were too hard (bumps it down a star). The location was a little deceptive to the pictures, it looked like it was seated in the forrest but the front was actually facing a street. The back however had a beautiful garden with a small wood connected to it. Great for a little dog walk in the evening and morning (yeah, dogs are allowed). Breakfast was very nice, although it was 25 € extra per person. There was freshly fried eggs, bacon, champagne, juice (although not freshly squeezed which would be recommendable for 25 € extra), coffee or tea served in a pot at the table, lots of bread, fresh fruits, yoghurts, salmon, mozzarella etc etc. The hallways and basically the whole hotel had an old but beautiful interior.
