loved the location, didn't love the hotel.
we arrived around 6pm to check in for a large group which we'd pre-booked for 7 twin rooms. We'd arranged everything ahead and had spoken to staff about parking for the minibus we'd hired for our group. When we'd called up we were told there was a large public parking lot nearby and this wouldn't be a problem. When we arrived we were told there was no parking, as well as being told that even though we'd asked ahead for one extra bed in one of the twin rooms they didn't have a record of this.
Generally speaking, most of the staff weren't great. The front desk was unattended most of the time, including in the morning during checkout times. The internet was shotty and didn't work well at all. When I called reception to query this they said they'd get it fixed, then updated it was fixed, but it still was patchy.
Also, the duvet cover on my bed was dirty. As it was evening the room staff weren't there and a guy from reception who isn't trained in making beds had to come up and change it. He was the only nice staff member in the place.
Rooms were pretty basic, showers even more so. It's ok for a budget stay for a couple of nights, no more. Heating also wasn't amazing as it was just an aircon unit and not central heating, it wasn't spread evenly through the room and it was slightly cool even with the heating on.
The best redeeming feature was the location, queen's quarter with botanic road just around the corner where there was a plethora of choice for food and drink. We went to a fantastic restaurant for dinner and a charming cafe for breakfast, so location was really great. read more
