It was magnificent as the Sonnenhof but is even more so now. They renovated the place and removed some newer but unattractive rooms in a separate wing. The site is wonderful, overlooking a broad valley and on a clear day you can see the outline of Frankfurt. Service is impeccable. Totally invisible but attentive. The food is excellent but vastly overpriced. Breakfast is unbelievable. Everything freshly baked and squeezed. The dining room is magnificent - expensive bordering the silly - but be sure to make reservations. There are some very good restaurants in town on the Hauptstraße but the Rothschild dining room needs to be experienced. It's a bit of a walk from the center of town and all uphill. The grounds abut a large greenspace that is forested with old, towering trees. There are trails but be careful - it's easy to get disoriented. Konigstein has several perfectly decent hotels ranging from spartan to good but if you have any reason to come here (or want to take a few day's break from Frankfurt) this is the place to stay. It's a bit of a walk from the gates, but it's not too terribly hateful. There is a Hilton and Hilton Garden Inn within the FRA Terminal that makes life a lot easier for those who especially have early morning flights. Frankfurt traffic can be a bit of a nightmare and often times it's quite unpredictable. Without breaking the bank, you can spend the night conveniently at the airport for worry free arrival to your gate the next morning. The hotel is set in a mall type atmosphere with shops, fast food options and multiple restaurants. There's plenty of room to have a wander and go shopping instead of sitting around in your room. The next morning, wake up fresh and head to your gate. With the security check points being 10 - 15 minutes of a walk from the hotel, you'll be on your way in no time. Would I go back? Absolutely. A night at the FRA Hilton Garden Inn is almost a must each time I fly out of FRA. It keeps me sane and on schedule.

The shower takes so long to drain that it overflows onto the bathroom floor. Thank goodness for a second drain in the bathroom floor. The shower was not even clean. The room safe is the equivalent of a small lock box with a skeleton key. Breakfast came with , but when I got up to get some toast I returned to find my plate and coffee gone. I guess that was there way of calling me fat. DO NOT stay here unless it is a last resort. Even the wifi sucks. The staff at the front desk are about the only nice thing.
