But this year, my daughter brought a friend and my mother in law's place would have been too cramped for all of us. So my wife and I stayed at Hotel Levante. Was very nice!! Air conditioning is a wonderful thing. Beyond that, this is a swell hotel. I believe it was remodeled and opened very recently and the previous hotel at this location shut down during the pandemic or after. I do a lot of writing while I'm on Elba, but I have never had quiet before. Our room overlooking the bay at the main intersection was amazingly free of outside noise. I also love the art here. Our floor was Yves Tanguy. The breakfast room is Gauguin. And the breakfast was something to look forward to every morning, quite a spread, as is the case in many an Italian hotel, despite the fact that many Italians barely eat breakfast. The highlight, though, was Doctor Coffee. I looked it up and this incredible machine will set you back more than five thousand dollars. It makes every type of coffee and a few related drinks, but I have been pretty much stuck on the espresso, which is the best I have ever had. Thank you, Hotel Levante! You rule! The price absolutely matched the quality and I would absolutely stay here again. We had a studio apartment and it came with everything we needed and had air-conditioning which was nice in the humidity that this season so far has to offer. There are three pools , one olympic -sized, and the other for kids and adults. I especially appreciated the close distance to Baratti and San Vicenzo beaches which is where we ended up going while there. They even have a little market if you want to pick up some food on-site as well as a bar and a restaurant.

Rooms are pretty basic, and there's no air conditioning in the stairs and corridors, pretty inconvenient in the Summer. No internet in the rooms, while a (non free) Wi-Fi connection is available at the lobby. There's a swimming pool, a small Jacuzzi and tennis courts. Restaurant is a short walk away from the main building, just by the beach, and breakfast buffet is good and abundant. There's no much in the neighbor area, excepted for the beach, so you need either full board at the hotel or a car to go eat at some restaurant elsewhere. In general it's a place for families, lot of Germans and Swiss with kids, not really for business stays.

While a casual environment, the farm hotel had everything we wanted in a vacation destination. A wonderful pool, comfortable apartments with kitchenettes, e-bike rentals, children's programming, pet friendly (we had our dog with us), and food/wine produced on-site. Plus, the price was just right! We ate dinner at the Agriturismo on our last night in Elba and enjoyed every single bite! If you visit, be sure to eat in at least once. It's not to be missed! We also loved their delicious red wine. We so enjoyed the wine, we bought a few bottles at check-out to take home with us. Their breakfast was also delicious. They offer a €9 spread with croissants, meats, cheeses, bread and local jam, juice, coffee, etc. etc. But, if your appetite isn't quite that big first thing in the morning, you can also order a la carte. We didn't discover that until our last morning, and wished we had known sooner. We walked to the end of the road and had a coffee and brioche at the bar attached to the gas station. While the bar wasn't bad or anything, the agriturismo's offerings are far superior! If you find yourself on Eba Island, do not hesitate to stay at Sapereto!

Rarely do we go on vacation and just want to lounge around our hotel all day and night but that's exactly what we do when we visit Il Baciarino. All of the outdoor spaces are so well thought out and welcoming. I've passed entire days just lounging around in a hammock, making pasta in the outdoor kitchen, taking a dip in the wood fired hot tub, or watching the sunset with a gin tonic (made with their homemade gin) in hand. Be sure to have at least one dinner on site. Not only is the food amazing but the company is always great, too. Some of our favorite Italy memories are around Il Baciarino's communal table, getting to know other travelers. And, do yourself a favor, and get breakfast every single morning you're there. The fresh bread arrives to your room around 9am, usually still warm, with the most amazing, homemade jams. We've literally just left Il Baciarino and are already talking about when our next visit will be. It's a magical spot that pulls you back over and over again.

Very much kid friendly, we visited the place a Saturday evening where all tables were full and almost every other table had kids from the ages 0-10. And the staff always had a good eye to both them and the adults. All in all a all round great experience and if possible, I would have given it 4.5 stars, so I'll top it to their favour and give five, the only 0.5 down because the food did not kick the chair away under me, but still is *very* tasteful and some quite innovative!

We arrived very late and long after the check in was closed. However instantly the extremely kind and helpful personnel showed up to welcome us kindly and to show us everything. Nothing was any problem for them at all. The stay was in reconstructed old building called Il Pozzino that offered all the comfort, luxury and style. It was a great combination of old with new, large bed, perfectly equipped kitchen, large bathroom with shower and perfectly working AC. The premises were absolutely clean and neat and were together with the large pool cleaned and prepared every morning. We loved this beautiful place that much that we didn´t drive any further as planned originally a prolonged our stay to a second night which was the maximum that we could dedicate to Maremma before returning back to Florence. However I would love to stay longer if possible.

We have visited for the previous 2 summers and have always been welcomed and seduced by the laid-back good-living of Tuscany by the sea. This is far away from 'Chianti-shire' and you are unlikely to meet other Brits here. The resort is a tiny haven and fairly exclusively Italian with a smattering of German and Dutch accents to be heard. The sea is often crystal clear and if you hire a car there is so much to do in the local area. The hotel owner Stefano and his extremely welcoming team will make sure that you experience the best of the area- we come back every year wishing we could have stayed!
