This is a two star hotel for a reason…read more Caught without a place to stay we booked this place for 35 EURO's through booking.com last minute. When we walked into the room there was an unpleasant odour which we put down to the room not being used and therefore aired. The room itself was oddly tiled from floor to mid-wall, which whilst I am sure is great for cleaning and in the summer cool, was very unusual and a bit creepy and soul-less. The shower cubical was in its last legs, the doors look like someone had a made an effort at fixing them but that they'd fall off, although other amenities looked fine. Windows opened onto a roof storage area and I understand why they were kept closed due to security. Also when I say windows, these were more hatches, which had the positive affect that at night the room was pitch black - which was very creepy. We had a snack downstairs and wish we hadn't, being a Sunday it was a limited menu and we ordered what we thought was a tortilla, but came as fried egg in a sandwich. Although the red wine was okay! To be honest this place just felt extremely cheap and not well looked after - although I get this as it is a motorway event space - indeed I saw a great event room out the back and assume they must hire out to have parties etc here, and that if it was used and therefore looked after, it could be a great place. However it isn't and I'd recommend that you take your time and try another place to stay that isn't here and which has at least some sort of actual character.

This is a great option for staying in the main part of Granada…read more We were traveling for pleasure with family. We got interconnecting rooms, which are different from how I think of connecting rooms. Our rooms shared a short hallway, and both the hallway door and the individual rooms used the same lock. We were given two keycards, both of which were needed to keep the electricity on in the rooms. As our kids are young, this was not ideal, as it was too easy for someone to get locked out of a room. This would be a better set up for families with older kids or couples traveling together. The hotel was clean and modern. There's a very decent gastropub in the lobby. Our room came with daily breakfast, and we thought the breakfast was very good. Eggs and pancakes to order, pretty extensive buffet including serrano ham and pate, fresh honeycomb, decent fresh fruit options, churros, and fresh squeezed orange juice. The kids enjoyed all three morning breakfasts. The hotel location is within a 10-20 minute walk of pretty much anything you'd want to see in Granada (although the walk to the Alhambra would be steep), but there's also a taxi queue two blocks away if you're feeling lazy.

Rooms are spacious and clean, decor is light, mirrors and lights are strategically placed to make it very easy to get ready. Room comes even with a steamer! Bathrooms were also very clean and large. I very much enjoyed my stay here and if I were to come back to Granada, I'd be staying here. Customer service was also excellent. Barcelo Carmen Granada is in a great location and within walking distance to everything.

The location is very close to a lot of restaurants and Cathedral. One of the bus stops for the Airport is also a couple minutes away. We arrived before our room was ready, so we were able to leave our luggage and come back. Before we left, the lady at the front desk went over the map with us in great detail, pointing things out, showing us where to catch the bus, and so on. She also showed us to the 'living room' on the fifth floor, which has some couches, tables and magazines. But the highlight is the patio, which has a view over the city facing the Alhambra. There are also a few tables and chairs outside, so it would be a great place to read or catch up on writing in your travel journal, or just to relax. Our room was big, our bed was big, and our bathroom was big. We both had a good sleep that night. We paid in advance when we booked and got 15% off the room. We had to leave early in the morning before breakfast started, but they do offer it for 6,95 EUR per person. Like I said, we were only in Granada for one night, but the location seemed great and quite it would be quite easy to get anywhere you wanted to, or there is lots to do in that area as well. The reception staff also ordered a cab for us in the evening to take us to the airport the next morning. The only negative about that was, as she was telling us our options, she said the aiport bus took 45 minutes, and a cab also took 45 minutes. In reality the cab only took 15 minutes, so we could have gotten that little bit of extra sleep in the morning!

David, a front desk attendant, was super friendly and gave us super helpful recommendations for modes of transportation, restaurants, and other activities. And he was just always warm, kind, and patient with our many requests. Juan, one of the waiters during breakfast time, was always so patient and timely with our requests. We kind of felt we established relationships with the staff at the end. The hotel is beautiful. You feel like you are in Spain in the hotel. The plaza is so peaceful to have a meal or just to relax. The are several beautiful rooms and the hotel has a interesting history. The rooms are comfortable. I liked the bathroom because it's spacious and the bed was super comfortable. The only thing to consider is that only one hotel room has an outdoor space. We had dinner and breakfast. The dinner was good. Food was somewhat flavorful but again, the ambiance is fantastic and relaxing. Service was warm, patient, and timely. This is one of the few breakfast places nearby that provides comprehensive choices and an American style breakfast. The breakfast is tasty. The price includes both a buffet and menu choices. The only slight concern is the breakfast is approximately $30 per person which is very expensive compared to other options in the area and outside the area. I strongly recommend for any visitor to Granada to consider this hotel.

Situated on a sprawling lot amid a bustling avenue lined with shops and office buildings, Hospes…read morePalacio de los Patos is a beautiful hotel reminiscent of a historic 19th-century building...because it is! A careful renovation of an old palace has crafted a charming estate with picturesque balconies, stately fountains, and elegant furnishings, though its amenities are modern, sleek, and state-of-the-art. We checked into Hospes Palacio de Los Patos on a Thursday afternoon for our one-night stay - the lobby was quiet, and we were immediately greeted by the hotel's concierge, who spoke fluent English as well as Spanish. She pointed out some of the city's popular tourist attractions (namely la Alhambra and the Albaicín neighborhood), and then guided us to our rooms, which were located in a separate building. You can either take an elevator down and walk underground through a tunnel beneath the two buildings, or walk through an outdoor plaza with a bar to access the hotel's restaurant and elevators to the rooms. We had booked two rooms - one with a queen-sized bed, and another with two full-sized beds. The rooms are bright with natural light and have large windows overlooking the plaza area between the buildings. Everything is very modern, but we found that some of the room's amenities prioritized style over substance - for example, the showers were beautiful, but didn't drain well, as there's no slope for the water to drain into, the bathtubs were oddly shaped and not very functional, and the state-of-the-art door locking system didn't always work, leaving us locked out of our rooms on multiple occasions. However, the complimentary white wine, chocolates, and mixed nuts we were provided were a plus! We didn't eat at the hotel restaurant, but it looks like an upscale option with a wide variety of dishes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, as well as room service. You also receive a complimentary hour's use of their spa/sauna - I didn't take advantage of this, though the rest of my family members said that it was quite luxurious! Additionally, when our flight to Barcelona was canceled before we checked out, we were very impressed with how our concierge booked us on a train to Barcelona within fifteen minutes. We were impressed with how efficient and professional she was! Apart from the minor technical difficulties and the fact that it's definitely on the pricier side, we really enjoyed our stay at Hospes Palacio de Los Patos - the building is beautiful and in a great location, service is absolutely stellar, and I would say that it's worth the splurge if you're looking for an upscale hotel in the area.

We had half board and the breakfast and dinner buffets were both really good. Lots of selection and everything was fresh. At dinner there was always a roast of the day, lots of vegetarian or vegan options, salads.... No complaints at all. There is a 'proper' restaurant. We did go. Appetizers are a buffet, then your choice of three main courses, and dessert is several small things brought to your table. It was fine. Nothing wrong with it but the buffet is so good that I think if we were here again, we would not bother with the restaurant and just do the buffet. The pool area was nice and at least at this time of year, there was no problem getting a sun bed. The entertainment was well.... entertaining.. not the best bands you will see but everyone was singing a long and having a great time. I think our favorite thing about this hotel was the staff. Front desk, restaurant, bar, cleaning staff.... All of them were so friendly, always said hello, everyone was helpful. The staff really stood out for me. We would come back here in a minute with no hesitation and would highly recommend.
