Definitely an above average hotel here in Montreal. Technically, the hotel is not in Montreal, but instead in Longueuil (Don't ask me to pronounce it), which is a city directly east of Montreal. It's only about a short 15 minute drive from Montreal's city center, so it's very conveniently located. In addition, the rooms were shockingly inexpensive, so if you don't want to spend an arm and leg, but still be pretty close to the city center, this IS the hotel to stay at. We found the rooms to be clean and spacious enough for 3 people. The mini fridge in the room wasn't exactly super cool for storing cold beverages, but it worked. There is also a free continental breakfast every morning from 6-10am, where they have boiled eggs, muffins, pastries, cereal, juices, milk, coffee and fruits. It's not the greatest hotel complimentary breakfast ever, but we thoroughly enjoyed it, especially the addictively delicious chocolate croissants! Also, there is a very large parking lot for hotel guests on the premises so you won't have trouble finding parking here. It's free for guests and can only be accessed with a room key. If you're visiting Montreal, this hotel is as good as it gets in terms of having all of the amenities you need to have an enjoyable stay - relatively inexpensive, clean rooms, free parking for guests, complimentary breakfast. We stayed for one night on a work trip. VERY comfortable king size bed. It was on the softer side. We were on the 5th floor, it was a quiet and calm sleep. Check out was at noon which is nice. The complimentary breakfast was simple and delicious. There are fresh made croissants and other pasties, hard boiled eggs and cheese, cereals, yogurt and fresh fruit. Also they have a latte machine which made great lattes. The room was very clean. It was under a ten minute walk to the yellow line which will take you downtown so that was convenient. Free parking was great as well. Would recommend this hotel! read more

By Montréal standards, this is a pretty good hotel. Most importantly, it is clean and well managed. Complimentary European style breakfasts includes croissants, a few pastries, McIntosh apples, banana, grapes, toast,hard boiled eggs, and these really good packaged sized cheeses called P'tit Quebec (no meats). It just cheddar cheese but makes an excellent emergency snack. There is an espresso machine (old school type) with instructions in French. Just put your cup underneath and push any button and some kind of coffee will come out. It wasn't the best tasting coffee but it was strong and woke me up. The check in is pretty reliable. We arrived at 2am and the man there checked us in without issue. The rooms are pretty spacious with a tacky sort of IKEA modern look to it. That said, the beds were comfy and the room comes with a computer (free use and wi-fi). The shower is comfy and the water pretty good quality. All in all, enjoyed the stay and would come here again when in Montréal. It is about a 15-20 minute drive from old town and Mont-Royal Park assuming no traffic. read more

The Hotel Dauphine is on the South shore, across the river from downtown and old town Montreal. But it is next to a Metro station so traveling back and forth is easy to do, and you pay less on this side of the St. Lawrence. It is just over the Pont Jacques-Cartier, so driving back and forth is pretty easy, and parking is free, with plenty of it. You can get a nice, clean room, with faux hardwood linoleum floors for about $100 most of the time, and that includes a continental breakfast, too. You also get free WiFi in your room, and actually there is a desktop computer and monitor on the desk, so if you forgot your computer, Voila! There is of course a TV, iron, iron board, coffee maker. etc that you would find in most business type hotels. Since it is near education centers, a lot of students stay here and work here, but they are friendly and pretty well trained. So if you want to save a little money and just be a couple of Metro stops from downtown Montreal, this is a good choice. Caution: the beds here are super firm! read more

This place is just perfect. Walk to the metro and rooms are spacious , clean and sleek. Only wish the staff was friendlier and we were given an option for quieter room. Our room was on the 1st floor next to the main door so bit noisy but some people don't mind this. I h/ever am noise sensitive. We would definitely stay here again if ever back in Montreal. I very much enjoyed staying at Le Dauphin! My boyfriend and I stayed here during Osheaga weekend. The staff was really friendly and helpful. One front desk agent was able to give us suggestions on where to grab a late dinner the first night we got in, and it turned out great. She even called us a cab. The front desk staff spoke English very well if that's a concern for you. The housekeepers don't however, they mainly speak French and Spanish. There is free wi-fi, which is important to a traveler who doesn't have a roaming cell phone plan! The room was clean and modern. There was an iron, blowdryer and fridge in the room. The room had faux hardwood floors which I appreciated so much. I hate carpet! There was a computer in the room, and an LCD TV mounted on the wall. The shower was really cool and modern looking and the shower was powerful, not some puny little stream. The A/C worked really well and the room was always cleaned nicely while we were out. Of course, they provide you with a "do not disturb" sign if you would prefer they not clean the room during your stay. The king sized bed we had in the room was super comfy and the pillows were great. Sometimes I get really bad neck pains when staying at hotels because they provide pillows that are too flat. Le Dauphin's pillows were awesome. The breakfast is fantastic! They serve it between 6-10am. They had so much to offer: croissants, toast, cereal, baked beans, bananas, yogurt, eggs, muffins, bagels, apples, orange juice, milk, tea and coffee. They had regular coffee and they also had an amazing espresso machine. You could get espresso shots, cappuccinos and cafe au lait with just the push of a button. I was in love with that espresso machine! Overall, I really really enjoyed staying here. The location of this hotel is SO convenient if you're attending Osheaga. It's one stop away from Parc Jean Drapeau and then it's about a 10 minute walk from the metro to the hotel. So convenient. I will definitely stay here again if I decide to come back for Osheaga again in the future! read more

Not a bad place. We stayed three nights and would stay again. The location is convenient for driving into Montreal if you are alert for a series of quick turns on the way back. This hotel is clean and modern. Bathroom doors do not lock. I could watch myself in the mirror peeing, that's always a plus. Breakfast is basic... bread items, cereal, fruit, yogurt, hard boiled eggs... and baked beans. Breakfast area is congested and annoying. Staff is friendly and helpful. read more

Very quickly into town. -Easy access to Metro station, cheaper rates across the river. -Friendly, helpful staff and cleaning crew. -Short walk to Tim Horton's :) -Seemed like a perfectly safe area, even going under a small underpass to walk to the metro. -There is a gym in the basement but we did not get to check it out. We had booked a major hotel chain in downtown Montreal but needed to arrive one day early so decided on Le Dauphin. The price sounded much better than the chain even though we knew we were a little distance from downtown Montreal. Upon arrival we found a lovely hotel with every amenity that we wanted at a great price. The free parking saved us $17 per day compared to the city. A continental breakfast was included which would save us another $20 or so. The room had a King sized bed, a fridge, an electronic safe, a large screen flat panel TV, and free wireless. I guess the biggest surprise was the free computer in each room! The floors are a hardwood laminate which gives it a cool modern look. We would have appreciated better coffee in the room as their included coffee is mediocre at best. The continental breakfast is just OK and yet it carried us nicely into midafternoon each day. The cappucino machine did add a nice touch though. Aside from the pouring rain on our visit we were thrilled with the place. We extended our stay to two nights and then caved and did all three here by cancelling our other booking. We took the nearby Metro into the city and found it really convienient. The staff were also really pleasant when we needed a bit of direction. read more

Excellent little hotel. I stayed here for the just for laughs festival and it was a perfect place to stay. the bed was so comfortable, the staff was very nice and helpful, and the location was perfect. so many nice cafes and restaurants nearby. The room was a little bit noisy at times - the air conditioner made a very strange gurgling sound - but really that was not a big problem. overall I was extremely satisfied and I would definitely stay here again. read more

This is close to being a 5 star review. This is a very reasonable and comfortable hotel a short walk to the Metro and then a short ride to downtown Montreal. Free parking, good breakfast included, an Apple desktop in each room, free wifi and a friendly helpful staff. Please don't change or raise rates. Montreal needs you just the way you arer. Without hotels like this Montreal, a wonderful city, would lose its appeal for us and others. read more

The front desk makes a point to let you know when it is served at check in; however, there are no signs telling you about the additional cost nor does the continental breakfast nook look like it is a pay for restaurant.
