As an American coming to Paris after many years (sadly, I think my French is getting worse, not better--I blame old age), the thing I dread the most is not being able to communicate in French, asking a local "Parlez-vous Anglais?" and seeing that look of disdain when they say, "a little." So when I arrived into this little hotel in the middle of the 1st district and was greeted with a friendly Bonjour and Hello once the receptionist could see I could not speak French, I immediately felt at ease.
One of the reasons I picked this hotel was because it had such great reviews on Tripadvisor and those reviewers did not disappoint! I picked a hotel close to the Louvre so I could do some shopping on Rue de Rivoli, however this hotel is also walking distance to Les Halles, the mall inside the train station and St Germain de Prez, with it's boutique shops. My room was a little small, but did not have that cramped feeling that many European rooms have, and I had a bathtub! The price was extremely reasonable at about 90 euros for the night--a real steal in Paris.
Although I've stayed close to the Louvre before, I never realized that Rue St Anne and its vicinity is like a Little Tokyo, with really rows of udon/ramen and other Japanese restaurants. There is also a Taiwanese bubble tea place called Zen Zoo two blocks away that has bubble tea and Taiwanese food.
Overall, I was really pleased with my experience at this hotel, from the friendliness of the receptionist, the layout of my room, the bathtub, the price, and the location. read more
