Some rooms do have a view of the canal, but I unfortunately was unable to secure one. Rather, mine looked over the entryway. The room itself is very basic, but modern and clean. You get an open air closet, a side table, a desk and a mini fridge with waters and soda (but not free). The bathroom is connecting, modern and very clean as well. Oddly, I think the door to my shower was removed, and thusly the water from the showerhead would shoot out into the bathroom area. Daily cleaning service was lovely as well. Please note that even during November, the room rates were high (roughly $78 US a night), but the location again is very, very good. Unfortunately, breakfast is not included at this high rate (which most likely only goes up during the summer months). It is an extra 7 euros and you have to tell them ahead of time if you'd like to have it, which I didn't know on my first night there. Overall, great location & clean accommodations made me satisfied, but my wallet was a bit unhappy.

So, do you really need to see Venice out of the window you close and block with the drapes as you dive into bed, full of pasta, and having walked the entire circumference of the island while stopping to alternate sipping Chianti and Peronis? Do yourself a favor & skip the $500 a night hotel and stay a quick walk from the train station at Hotel San Geremia - yes there are no taxis so you'll be pushing your roller board over the cobbles. It was $170 a night at the San Geremia. I promise you won't wish you spent 3x as much at 1am when the only thing more you want to see in Venice is the back of your eyelids. The hotel is clean, it's easy to get to, it's no frills but you'll give no cares.

The windows faced the courtyard, which is really nice because there was a view and we could open our windows at night to listen to the live music playing from the courtyard (aka plaza) downstairs. Bed was clean. Walls were painted red. Bathroom was small, but it was modern! Shower screens were glass, and sink was modern and worked! It was all compacted into a small space that is typical of all Italian hotels. The drawback of this hotel was = NO TV. Not sure what happened here, but our room didn't have a TV. I guess they assumed that no one would be watching TV in Venice anyways, since there's so much to explore outside of your hotel room. They were right. :) Also, while they claimed that there was FREE wi-fi throughout the hotel, we couldn't get ANY wi-fi reception beyond the 2nd floor. If you're desperately in need of wi-fi from your room, I'd recommend that you ask for a room on the 1st or 2nd floor, because there was no connectivity on the 3rd floor and beyond. No elevators, so everyone had to lug their suitcases up 3 flights of stairs. Just keep that in mind when requesting your room! Breakfast is not included at this hotel; however, they give you a 50% off voucher to go to the cafe next door to buy pastries/coffee/drinks, if you'd like. We didn't end up using the voucher, so not sure whether the breakfast cafe is any good. Receptionist personnel were nice, friendly, and could provide you with maps + instructions on how to get to the airport bus, etc. What I liked most about this hotel was that proximity to the vaparetto stations and the closeness to the bus / train terminal. It was just a mere 5-10 minute walk to all transit centers! :) If I were to come back to Venice again, I wouldn't mind staying here for a no-frills, budget-friendly, and modern/clean/well-maintained hotel. One suggestion -- Please work on getting wi-fi to the top floors as well!!! :)

I picked this hotel for price and location, and I stayed for one night. Tried to get a watertaxi…read morereservation, but for whatever reason, i couldn't call the number provided by Hotel Serenissima, who reserved the watertaxi for me. I ended up taking a public waterbus for a fraction of the cost of a private watertaxi. My recommendation to you is to do the same, and save the difference to treat yourself to shopping or indulging. Exit the waterbus at the Rialto bridge exit, and use a maps apptoguide you on the easy 5-minute walk to the hotel, which is also only a 5-minute walk (other direction) to Piazza San Marco. I was greeted by a friendly woman, who seemed to speak a llittle English, but was able to assist me with my combination of limited Spanish, and non-existant Italian, save for a sentence or two that Google translate helped me with. I arrived before official check-in time, but you can leave your bags check-in day and check-out day, while you explore Venice. I would describe Serenissima as a charming bed and breakfast. My room had dated furniture, but my in-room sink and bidet looked to be recently updated, and my room was very clean. The TV worked, as did all the light fixtures and electrical outlets. My mattress was more firm than I like, but I had no issues with discomfort during the night or after I woke up. I asked for a room with a private bathroom. They don't have ensuite bathrooms, but I was given a key to my own bathroom, a few steps from my bedroom, which had a lock and key, as well. The bathroom was also very clean, and they provided bar soap and hair & body wash. A hot breakfast buffet was included that featured scrambled eggs, quiche, bacon , ham, bruschetta, assorted bagel and croissant sandwiches, fruit, fruit juices, coffee, and several other items, so breakfast FAR exceeded my expectations! Emtrance is open 24 hours, and I interacted with 4 different staff members, all were 5-star level professional and welcoming. Overall, I will say that Hotel Serenissima exceeded my expectations and provides an excellent value! When you leave for the day, you'rw supposed to leave yoir key with the front desk, which I missed at check-in, but they forgave me, since I didn't lose it. The key chain is heavy and bulky, so best to leave it with the desk than to carry around all day anyway.

I arrived 2hrs after my arranged time but with the 24hr reception it was not a problem. Someone let me in, took basic details and got me up to my room so I could rest. The staff is helpful with the local tourist info and attraction locations, they can also make reservations for you at local musical events. They even had a spare phone charger (I forgot mine) and let me use it for the duration. Continental breakfast was included in the price and it was a nice start to the day. Be aware it's on from 7-10am. There's a small bar next to reception but feel free to ask for a bottle to take to your room or enjoy in the area where brekkie is served. The room was clean as a whistle but mind you it's a budget hotel so don't be looking for luxury toiletries - bring your own if you're a spoiled brat. Water pressure was just fine & got to love the shuttered windows. My room overlooked the courtyard and I had quiet & restful sleep. Americans will be glad to know that A/C is in abundance in Italy and this hotel had a really good system. This is helpful in summer because it tends to be a roast-fest in Italy. It's really convenient for tourists who take a cruise ship or airplane to Venice. For those getting off the People Mover tram, it's just across the plaza to the right of the bridge. You can schlep your own bags there. You check into the small lobby, but we had to stay in another larger building down the waterfront toward the left of the bridge and is conveniently in front of the dock where the Vaporettos leave for St. Mark's Square. Nevertheless, it is a hassle to have to leave your room key at the front desk in another building when you leave your room. In addition, Wi-Fi is available only in the lobby. The entrance to the annex is down a bank building's alley. There's a convenience store nearby. However, the room was pretty good sized and clean, if not dark. We got the maid to replace the four broken light bulbs in the bedroom. The bathroom was huge. There's no tub and now shower curtain or door. TV only gets local channels. The king sized bed was two beds shoved together. The lobby is in an older building and half of it is being renovated. Even after the renovation is done, they will keep using this annex. Free continental breakfast in the lobby. Not bad. Moderately priced. I'd suck it up and be OK with staying in the annex because the Santa Chiara Hotel is so close to the People Mover and the buses from the airport. Otherwise you have to drag your bags onto a Vaporetto or expensive water taxi to get to your hotel.

Thankfully check-in was simple and the staff was very friendly and they told us that we had a room on the second floor. The only problem with this was that there wasn't a lift in the hotel and while the last thing I wanted to do was carry both mine and my wife's bags up a couple of flights of stairs, I was forced to anyways. Once we were in the room though, everything was delightful. The room was fairly spacious and we had a wonderful window that we could open to overlook one of the canals. The bed felt nice after the long trip in and the bathroom was decent as well. Much to our delight there was also a rooftop sitting area that we would use. Breakfast the following morning also ended up being fairly nice and both my wife and I were satisfied with it. The bottom line for me is that I would stay here again in the future. My wife and I really liked this place as we enjoyed both the breakfast and the staff.

There was also no wifi reception from this room and it was clear that we would not be comfortable. We rolled our bags back to the front desk to ask for another room. The woman at the front desk became rude and claimed that we had been in the room for an hour and would have to charge a 20 Euro fee. She sent a maid to "inspect" the room (I guess to make sure we didn't trash it) and although I'm sure the maid said the room was fine, she insisted on charging us an additional 20 Euros and demanded the hotel tax in cash. I felt we were being gouged. We were given a much nicer room on the third floor with hot running water and wifi access so the rest of our stay was fine. The other desk and service personnel are attentive and hard working.

LOTS of stairs. we had the highest room = 5 flights up/down every time. get it, if you want to burn off the calories from all that pasta and get some exercise. skip it, if you have health issues. 4. if it's available, ask for the room with the private terrace (only 1 in the whole place). beautiful views of the basilica domes and the campanile. we got take out for lunch everyday and came up to enjoy the nice weather with food and a bottle of wine. but you can also hear the hourly bells quite well. so not recommended if you're a very light sleeper.

Check in was smooth and easy - we stored our bags with the desk until our room was ready and the lady at the desk gave us a good recommendation on a place to grab some food. The name of the restaurant escapes me, but mentioning who sent us got us some free drinks and great service. The first unit we had was off site from the main building in an apartment building around the block. The unit was nicely sized, perfectly cleaned and cozy. being in it's own building, It felt almost like we were renting an apartment rather than a hotel room and the building felt very secure. The second unit was the top floor unit in the main building with the roof top patio overlooking San Marco square and a good view of the roof tops of Venice. This is the room that you should try to get if you're staying in Venice. The room is small, but worked perfectly for the two of us, the real draw or this room is the deck and its view. Free Wifi in the main building was key for making plans while in Venice without relying on guidebooks or maps. Great hotel!

Lugging luggage throughout the city maze while trying to find your hotel did not seem like fun. Hence our #1 criteria for our Venitian hotel: something close to the Grand Canal and the vaporetto stop! Enter Ca' dei Dogi, which had an ideal location. A 5 minute walk from the San Zaccharia vaporetto dropoff was painless, even with luggage - all flat, no bridge crossings. We were here in Venice for 4 nights to celebrate my wife's milestone birthday, a special occasion. But our room we were shown into was a disappointment, to put it mildly. The entrance door was immediately behind the front desk, and the small room, almost completely filled by the bed, had no windows. It felt kind of claustrophobic. We could have lived with it, it is what it is. But the owner, seeing our disappointment and realizing this was a special occasion, offered us an upgrade to an apartment which would be available for the last two days. We found this a very generous offer and gladly accepted! This room, the ground-floor economy room, was acceptable for a couple days and for some, given the price level might be a good value. The Dama apartment was beautiful, decorated in 60s chic, so the last two days capped off a wonderful visit to Venice. There is commercial activity in the early morning, probably from the restaurant below, so if you are sensitive to noise earplugs might be in order. Ca' dei Dogi's location was very convenient: St. Mark's Square is only a five minute walk away - it was easy for us to stop by in the early evening to enjoy the square with diminished crowds. The owner of the hotel also runs the attached restaurant, so the free breakfast every morning was a treat. Opening with a cappuccino, then a made to order omelet, hot croissant, pastries that varied by the day and fruit. After this breakfast, we could get by with just a snack for lunch and be good until dinner. The hotel also coordinated a custom trip to Murano Island. A free water taxi zipped us over there where we had a tour of their facilities and the display room. Excellent service and location at a reasonable price makes Ca' dei Dogi a good choice for your trip to Venice.

Great service and location. It was pricey but the location and service were excellent. When we almost overslept for breakfast, management called us and cooked us custom made omelettes.
