Poorly managed. Poorly maintained. What a rip off for over $200 per night. I will not stay there again- well worth the drive to Globe/Miami. The room key-cards rarely worked. The front desk clerk left at 5 pm, so we were quite concerned our key would not let us back in the hotel after dinner. Thank goodness it did, because the keys didn't work the next mornin, and I would have been locked outa my room. Our room was not cleaned. We only had one towel. Sheets were stained. No toiletries. Not even soap! When I asked Audrey for soap, shampoo and conditioner and towels, I just got one towel, and no just conditioner. Audrey said they had no conditioner, and had no "bar" soap, and then she handed me a partially-used, already opened travel-size liquid facial cleanser. There were two rat/mouse traps positioned under my bedside table. Not a great feeling. The shelf in the shower was broken off and missing. The TV and continental breakfast were a complete waste of time. The leather sofas in the lobby were cracked and worn, and looked like they had sat outside in the sun all summer. Too bad. They made an effort to refurbish the place, but didn't hire the right people to look after it. Sad story and a waste of my money. BUYER BEWARE! read more

Had purchased a room for a friend to stay over this past weekend and he had trouble with the AC. When the issue was brought up to the front desk they let him know there was no solution other than a refund.. they could not put him in another room as the hotel was full. Rather than attempting to sleep in a room with no AC I picked him up and he stayed the night with us in our Airbnb. The following morning (Saturday) he went to his room showered and left the room. Long story short he never once slept in the hotel room which was purchased from Friday - Sunday. Per the Hotel manager since the shower was used there was no option for a refund.. pretty expensive shower $428 to be exact. Poor communication on managements part and pretty disappointed how the entire situation was handled. read more

I looked at the website, and reviews when making our decision to stay there for the prickly pear festival. I made sure to ask questions, so I knew there was no mini fridge or microwave in the room and brought my own cooler. They were great about supplying ice for it. HOWEVER, there was no tea room, bar (the signs on the door say "Tea room and Bar") or meal service other than a "continental" breakfast. It was 1 bagel, 1 muffin and 2 slices of bread in a baggie. There was coffee, OJ and cranberry juice, no fruit, no breakfast sandwiches, nothing of note for the hype. I've had better at cheaper places. On the website we say pictures of table settings, a professional kitchen and even pictures of the food. Then when I saw that I was disappointed that we were paying over 200$ a night and couldn't even get a working TV. The front door locks in the late afternoon so you're expected to enter and exit through the back door. That's $425 and a whole weekend I'll never get back. Every room has been completely and carefully renovated. My wife and I stayed here and visited Superior with a Local First Arizona tour group, and we loved it. While you can still see the historical features and beauty of the property, it does not require that you suffer by using antiquated facilities. The bathrooms are updated and spotless, the service is friendly and it's in the heart of everything going on in Superior - and just feet from a terrific canyon hiking trail! read more

I love this hotel. My husband and I got married on the roof and had our reception in the tea room and were treated like royalty. Everyone from the owner to the wait staff are the kindest people and treat you like family. I couldn't have asked for a better place to begin our new lives together. The views from the roof are spectacular with the cliffs surrounding this historic building. The building has been meticulously restored and still a has modern feel to it. The bathtubs are nice and long and you will just feel like you're at home. Such a beautiful place to retreat to and feel like you're in a simpler time. Many years of hard work to restore the hotel and property has turned it into a very beautiful place to appreciate and enjoy the effort. The hotel has quaint and nice rooms with an historic aura and a very comfortable feel. The ladle restaurant has great food and great service. You are very well served and will have a great meal with large portions. The Barmacy across the street has a nice relaxed upscale feel and a great dinner menu. It has live entertainment and a very nice large patio for major events. Overall my anniversary trip was very nice and amazingly served. The Magma Hotel is a nice upscale feel that you will enjoy in a small mining town. It is definitely a very nice place to stay or even just to enjoy great food passing through. read more

I stayed here a few years ago with no issues. I Came back for the 2nd time last night. I have to rate it a tad lower now. The room I specifically reserved the blinds were broken. So we got switched to another room with no view. We found the toilet paper had blood on it and the soap dispenser had something gross on it as well. Bed sheets had stains. read more

The Magma Hotel is a triumph of elegance with enriching history dating back to 1912. The current owner spent much time and put in personal love to make the hotel as grand as the first day! The Ladle restaurant has five star service and exceptional food. Critics will be amazed. The staff is always smiling and willing to help. I came to Hotel Magma from Los Angeles over Thanksgiving weekend and it was absolutely perfect! The hotel is newly renovated and they did a wonderful job. I am a huge U-Turn movie fan and was delighted to see this hotel was open so I could come check the town out and wander around for a couple days. I felt like I was staying in my wealthy friend's spare bedroom. I immediately took a long bubble bath when I got there to wash off the road (highly recommended). The bathtub is nice and long so you can stretch out. I took a shower the next day and the water pressure and shower head were perfection. The bed was sooo cozy, bedsheets were super nice, I slept like a log. I ate at the owners restaurant across the street. Five stars as well. I recommend this cute little historical town if you like to hike and take photos. read more

The Hotel Magma opened in March 2019 after 5 1/2 years of historic renovation/reconstruction in the heart of Superior, AZ's downtown. This is a beautiful boutique hotel with 21 rooms and a restaurant. Everything is historically correct and this hotel once again is the keystone to Superior's reemergence. Visiting from Honolulu, my wife and I stayed over night here for one night, from July 3 to July 4th. We were celebrating our 27th wedding anniversary on the 3rd. The hotel is a perfectly and beautifully (and painstakingly) restored hotel bringing back the era of 1920s luxury and elegance with all the modern amenities. It opened only a few months ago. At this point It is still a hidden gem, but it deserves widespread notoriety. The owner (Senor Miguel Sfeir) met us at the front desk at check in time, and from that point on we were treated like VIPs. All the staff we met (Tina, "UV", Kim, David) were thoughtful, respectful, entertaining and charming. Tina gave us a wonderful comprehensive tour of the hotel after check-in. Our room was at the end of a long Hall on the second floor that appeared to be right out of the "wild wild west". Our room was tastefully appointed to celebrate western style yesteryear, with a luxury bathroom that had meticulously done artful tile work. The modern convenience of AC, and a TV did nothing to detract from the retro experience. We had dinner across the street at the "Barmacy", and we're waited on by a lovely and friendly waitress, Kim. (it used to be a pharmacy and is converted into sports bar and dining room.) The food, cooked by David, was delicious and the presentation was as good as it gets. On the morning of the 4th we had breakfast in the dining room they named "The Ladle". Our waitress was a young, attentive and charming girl nicknamed, "UV". The breakfast sandwich I had was absolutely the best I've ever had, and it came with bowl of fruit and a yummy muffin. My wife had an equally good breakfast of eggs and bacon prepared in a wonderful way. Senor Miguel was always on the premises, and available for small-talk. He is, as I discovered, a friendly and remarkable man with a more remarkable history. If you come here,you will NOT be disappointed. We will be back, and we'll bring friends to share the experience. read more
