This review is for the restaurant nearby the hotel: Mestre Afonso.
Clams were salty.
Shrimps were good.
All of the dishes were of home-made quality, no skill involved.
Taste was really mediocre.
All appetizers offered were NOT
complimentary (even though the wait for our entrée was around 20 minutes.
Bread/olives/pâtés/butter were €1 - €2each!!!!
Beware... it is unlike the North American style of freebie breads/butter.
They will ask you without telling you that they are complimentary.
Water included.
We thought that they will be free!
Good thing that tipping in Europe is unheard of and completely optional!
This restaurant is in Batalha, Portugal.
We stayed in the hotel (History Hotel) and it was classy, clean and modern. read more
