I came here almost a year ago and have not left . I think around 35 nights so far this year . Breakfast and WiFi is included in your rate. Both of which work. The breakfast has fresh real food which tastes good and catered for meat eater, vegs, vegans, glutton free etc. What can I say I stay here every time but its is Sweden so it's not cheap. It tasted great and the fish was fresh and the serving was beautiful. The sashimi contained of tuna, salmon and scallop together with vegetables and fermented soy sauce. Very tasty. As for the main I took the beef fillet with sweet potato fries, chili bearnaise and red wine reduction. The meat was great and perfectly cooked. The fries crispy and the sauces tasted very good. The dessert was a cake with marinated strawberries and yogurt sorbet. Very tasty and refreshing. Pleasantly surprised by this place and would return. Thank you.

I had originally picked out Villa Fridhem nearby because the pictures looked much nicer on their website than at this place. It was much more expensive though and I was told that Söderköpings Brunn was really pretty good and much closer. I wasn't disappointed! All the baked goods, jams, waffles, ect. were homemade and fantastic! Those scones were out of control!! I think my boyfriends parent's eyes popped out of their sockets when they saw how much he piled on his plate. You don't want to take either of us to a buffet of any kind if you don't want to go crazy and try everything. I'm guilty of heaping it on quite a bit too, but who doesn't love a good buffet?! ;) This hotel/restaurant is in the center of the cute little historic downtown area of Söderköping and is apparently pretty historic itself! This place gets the "Brunn" in it's name (which means a water "well" in English) from the fact that it was built over a naturally fed well. The well was apparently used to supply the victorian style "spa and heath retreat" that existed here back in the day. The hotel still has a spa here on site, but from what I hear the "heath treatments" are much more relaxing nowadays. LOL! I don't think I would've enjoyed my tea as much if it was following an enema. Apparently, that was a real hot offering back then! LOL! I can't really comment on the room conditions here, I wasn't a hotel guest so your guess is as good as mine there. The downsides of the hotel is that it's not decorated exceptionally well, is a little strangely laid out and the tea buffet was haphazardly placed in a hallway area and didn't feel very fancy. I did really like the outdoor seating area next to this little grassy area with a gazebo. I don't think that area has been changed much since the early 1900's. It felt like I could have been dressed in full victorian clothing (parasol and all) enjoying my tea and still be right at home! Overall, pretty enjoyable tea! I highly recommend walking off the buffet on the beautiful sidewalk going along the Göta Kanal (a canal nearby that has a few restaurants and shops in a small "boardwalk style" area by where it passes through the town) or exploring the little cute medieval town itself! This year was a disaster and clearly a logistic fail for them. We came at 17.45 to sit in the salon to have glögg while waiting to be seated. We were the second party to arrive. Usually the staff places each party at the tables as more and more people arrive but yesterday Bofors Hotell clearly lost control of the situation. The salon was so full at one point it was impossible to even move around. The staff started bringing people to their tables but the only problem was they forgot we were the second to arrive so we were actually one of the very last to be seated. My parents speculated that it was because we were only a few people as compared to the big parties (many of them companies). All in all we waited almost one hour to be seated. A small "sorry we kept you waiting" would have made up for everything but the waitor said absolutely nothing and just placed us at our table. I've worked as a waitress before and if it would have been me I would have made sure the drinks were on the house but a simple "Sorry you had to wait" would have been perfectly fine. The logistics also failed miserably yesterday. You had to stand in line for around 10 minutes to get the food at the christmas buffet and I heard many people beeing annoyed and saying that they should just go for the desert table (where there was no line) and skip the rest because it took such a long time. I don't know if this was a particulary vad situation because of the MANY guests yesterday but not a good experience. I would recommend Loka Brunn restaurant instead if you are looking for a nice place in the area to have a good christmas dinner (the service at Loka Brunn is absolutely outstanding). Generally speaking about Bofors Hotell: The restaurant is an institution in Karlskoga and has good food, the interior is amazing and the history of the place really gives it a competitive edge to the other places in and around Karlskoga butdon't go for the 'Julbord' and don't expect excellent service. A small excuse woulld have made the customer experience good.
