The hotel offers 24/7 room service which I planned on taking advantage of with a long day of sight seeing. At check in I didn't receive any VIP benefits like a complimentary breakfast or room upgrade which was the first disappointment but was nothing compared to their customer service. I tried calling room service at 10:30 pm, it rang for about 5 minutes but nobody answered. I called reception at 11 pm to see if they could help connect me or provide another extension, to which they responded that the kitchen was busy and they would call me back shortly. I waited 15 minutes then I walked down to the hotel restaurant where they told me it was closed but Fernando would take my order and have it sent to my room. An hour goes by so I called to check on my order, they said it was on its way. Another half hour until a server arrives to deliver a tray, and he drops it off and quickly leaves without opening the food cover. I lift the cover to find that it isn't what I ordered, so I call down to room service but they don't answer so I call the front desk. They advised the food I ordered was all out so they brought me something else and that the salad descriptions needed to be expanded upon. They showed no respect or common sense to call me to let me know that I would need to select another entree or that the word "salad" doesn't best describe the dish. I speak Spanish, I read the description in both languages so I am totally perplexed by their poor food description. They finally offered to make me something else, but I said I wasn't going to wait another hour and a half for food. They still charged me for the dinner after all of that. I contacted the hotel who offered to make accommodations for me the next time I visit instead of fixing things here and now. I obviously don't have any plans to return to Córdoba in the near future.

Actually it might be larger than our apartment in New York. The bathrooms are fantastic. It was the little details that make the hotel really special, on arrival, they offer you water flavored with whatever fresh fruit they have that day; when you enter the room there are delicious little sponge cakes waiting on the table. When we first arrived, they asked if we wanted a tour of the hotel. I now understand why, there are so many beautiful features for example, there is glass floor in the dining room with an archaeological dig below. The pool is surrounded by orange trees and it is extremely relaxing to sip sangria there. My only complaint was the the room was extremely hot at night (it was summer) and the bed was hard (which was the same in all hotels we stayed in in Spain). The food at the pool was also terrible so I recommend eating elsewhere - plus the service at the pool was really spotty.

Don't bother buying one or multiple weeks. They sell you on the ability to be prioritized so you…read morecan secure the building and apartment you want. There is so many things to love about Marbella, Spain. We happily booked on our Marriott trade in…read morehere for a week into a 3 bedroom villa to celebrate our daughter who's a recent graduate and multi state bar pass attorney. We made it here after being in Madrid for 3 nights with our youngest who works for the FS corporation. I mention that, because one thing that happens in our stay was appalling and trust me , FS employees always notice.. First , this resort is beautiful. It's right on the beach. A beautiful gym; multi pools , including a heated one inside; a kids pool & play area; BBQ areas and multiple outlets for eating. The lobby is small, which made check in a bit slow. There is a market place, but it's pricey as it's on property. But it gets you what you need & our girls loved that it had quick pizzas and Euro snacks on the ready. There is a grocery store down the way , also pricey , but cheaper than on Marriott's property. The villa itself could use a bit of a renovation but it's very quiet and so nice and near so much in S. Spain. We had a large balcony over looking the grounds. The location superb. The villa itself was outfitted perfectly for our daughters and us for the 6 day stay. We had one misfire at the on site restaurant: his name is , ' Rofo' and he is a tyrant. He works at El Med, as a host --- maybe a waiter and wins the award for the rudest, most obnoxious staff member we encountered in Europe this year.. yes. The entire year. He sat us at 830, maybe closer to 9pm? But being in Spain, that is usually the dinner hour. We had been traveling all day so we heard music in the restaurant and one of our daughters had a headache and asked to sit on the patio, which he took issue with. She saw him roll his eyes as we sat at the outside table , ( he said we had to sit by 'his' door and order from the limited bar menu), so she left for the room & we went inside, which again aggravated him and he rolled his eyes again. He slammed the menus down and told us to hurry and order. He then placed bread on the table that we didn't want , ( charging us for it) & returning to say 'yes?' .. meaning he wanted our order. We ordered quickly. This was the vibe through our quick dinner; and when we listened to the great entertainment, that we loved and decided to order dessert since it seemed others were? He yelled at us, 'HURRY UP!! IT's almost 10 and we close!!' While tapping his watch and saying , 'I I , EYE EYE EYE O!' .. to that I finally said , ' that is NOT okay .. you are rude !' And he said ' you showed up late and chef is waiting !' .. I had NO clue what this man meant .. but we wanted our check and I was so angry and humiliated we vowed to never go back to this restaurant again. Moreover, it's a Marriott where we have over a weeks plus worth of points for this trip in Europe like we do every year and the American brands employee treated us that badly at dinner after our long day ? So that was our one HUGE issue. We did check out a day early and leave for Barcelona. The spa was also closed and that is not mentioned anywhere on any site or when you check in- it's only when you ask. That said most of our time here was great. It's a lovely location. There needs to be more restaurants with more variety open and a spa. Some updates are needed but I think we will definitely return and maybe Rofo will have a new career somewhere else :-)

When we arrived we got a free upgrade to a suite and there was a bottle of complementary champagne waiting for us in the room. Great service! The bathroom was huge! They pride themselves on their anonymity (no Facebook, Insta or TripA) and request you call them to book. We stayed at the hostel next door but will absolutely stay here next summer. They sell out rapidly as room rates Are only $200 eu. I don't work for them. But work in the hotel industry and feel a little Kindred spirit with this lovely spot. Nerja is for those that want a more authentic Spain/ Mediterranean experience. Not a heavy tourist spot. If you need fish and chips or burgers for dinner: Go elsewhere!

Casa Olea is a six-room, centrally-located B&B if you are visiting Andalucia. We were originally…read moregoing to hotel hop while in Andalucia and so glad we found Casa Olea. Instead, we stay 5 nights and had a genuinely unique experience for several reasons. Number 1: The B&B proprietors and the location of the B&B were exactly what we wanted. Tim, Claire and their adorable dog Ruby provided the perfect balance of privacy and attentiveness. Many B&B's struggle at providing that balance but they have mastered it. Casa Olea is nestled among olive trees just outside the little town of Zamoranos. Its location is very serene and a wonderful setting for some rest and relaxation by their pool or just walking along the quiet dirt road. Ruby greats you as you drive up to Casa Olea....almost feels like you are coming home. Every morning before we would head out, Tim would have maps of the towns we were going to visit. He gave us parking tips, driving directions, restaurant recommendations...anything we asked and it all helped tremendously as we set out for the day. All of Tim's recommendations were spot on. Number 2: The food at Casa Olea was excellent. Breakfast is included in the room rate and was a nice start to the morning. It consisted of cereals, greek yogurt, pastries, fresh fruit, ham, cheeses, and this wonderful tomato/garlic relish. Juices, milk, tea, coffee are also available. The spread is plenty to start your day of touring. Casa Olea also has dinner available for an additional cost and it is well worth the money. Each morning you choose from two starters and two main courses. This was often a difficult task because everything that Claire cooks is absolutely delicious. Claire is generally in the kitchen making all of the delicious food but comes out to great the guests. Also, if you have dietary restrictions (vegetarian), Claire has wonderful meals to accommodate you. Tim makes sure everyone has what they need whether its hot tea after a tiring day touring the sights or a perfect red wine from the region to a soothing after dinner drink of Pedro Ximenez to finish the night off perfectly. Number 3: The guests at Casa Olea allowed us to meet very interesting people form around the world. During our visit we had folks fro Spain ,Ireland and Florida which provided a rich experience in discussing everything to world politics to food recipes. All guests typically stayed at Casa Olea for dinner therefore providing a wonderful opportunity to get to know each guest even better. Towards the end of our stay, we had dinner "Family Style"....one large table with everyone seated. Very enjoyable. I can go on and on about our stay and as you can see from my review as well as others that Casa Olea is a perfect place to stay. Tim and Claire really have done a great job in making every stay a pleasure and an experience you will not forget. I highly recommend staying here! One request of future guests.....bring back maps of the cities you visit to replenish Tim's map stash.
