We arrived without a reservation, but she was able to accommodate us no problem! The room was nice and spacious, super clean and up to date! I slept lap well on the comfy bed, my husband didn't but that was because I was sleeping so well I snored and woke him up. I sept through breakfast but my husband said it was great! He had an Omelet and bacon and toast and liked the coffee. He brought me a tea and or was nice as well. The shower was glorious with good pressure and lots of hot water! Bonus points for large refillable bottles on the wall that cuts back on plastic waste! Which is super important to me. When we were leaving our room the housekeepers were in the hallway a couple rooms down from us and I didn't hear them at all when we were in our room and they were so nice and friendly! We waited in the comfortable chairs in the lobby for our ride, the chairs are so comfortable. Thank you so much for the nice stay! Our daughter and son in law have moved to Petawawa so we will be back!

I have stopped at the Bears Den a few times over the last ten years while in town visiting friends…read more The food has never been terrific and there is still a lot of weak spots on this menu. This round was for breakfast and we were a group of 4 adults and 3 children. Where the place is not lacking is portion sizes for most of the dishes. The mix plate dishes (e.g. Eggs; pancakes; etc) were really large (too large to be honest). There is also combinations that do not make a lot of sense (e.g. You usually don't get pancakes AND toast). The problem with these dishes were execution. Eggs were fine, home fries were white and under cooked, toast was so thin buttering them broke the slice, and the pancakes were flavourless. My wife had a breakfast wrap which was hilariously small. It looked almost miniature novelty sized. Fortunately, everyone else's food was so over portioned that there was more than enough to pass on to her. The place apparently has been taken over by new owners. They are Indian and are launching an Indian menu in mid-September. That will hopefully be something they enjoy themselves and have some good family recipes to delivery to the locals. I wondered in the back where they have a bar & grill type place. It was nice looking and they had a couple of decent beers on tap. Might be a better evening spot.

I brought this up to the front desk staff several times and they offered nothing (other than saying I could go down the street to Tim Hortons and use their wifi). Honestly, if I hadn't booked through a travel ap i would have demanded my money back and gone elsewhere (like the one next door that didn't seem to have any issues). Do better.

The fitness room only had 4 equipment; 2 treadmills, 1 elliptical, and 1 pedalling equipment. This was the only hotel in the area that would accommodate 5-6 people to a room. Our room had a pull out couch. Our room was very nicely cleaned. Although I didn't know why the drapes wouldn't close all the way.

Extremely Poor Management and Communication - Avoid This Place…read more We arrived later than expected and tried calling the phone number listed on their website several times -- no one ever answered. When we got there around 8:00 PM, the office was completely dark. A note taped to the front door said we had been assigned rooms 12 and 13, and that the rooms were unlocked. However, when we went to those rooms, they were locked and already occupied. The people inside told us they had been assigned those rooms. We encountered someone who appeared to work in housekeeping, but he didn't speak English and couldn't help us. Fortunately, another guest who overheard the confusion offered to help. He had experienced similar issues and had the owner/manager's personal number. He called -- no answer the first time -- then contacted the restaurant manager, who thankfully spoke English and managed to get us into different rooms. This was a completely unacceptable way to handle guests' arrivals. For two days, the owner/manager avoided speaking with us, claiming over the phone that he wasn't on site -- even though we saw him several times. When we finally did meet, he offered no apology, only excuses about not being able to find staff to keep the office open more than an hour a day. There was no gesture of goodwill, no compensation, and no accountability. We will never stay here again -- and you should think twice before booking.

I slept for over four hours when she came back and found a bed bug laying right on her pillow! We called front desk and housekeeping came and confirmed what we already knew. They put our clothes in bags and moved us to another room on the first floor (possibly moving them with us?) and comped the stay but I still will never set foot on that property again!

It's our 2nd time at Loom Bistro inside this lovely little B&B and it proved that the first time wasn't a fluke. This was another spectacular scrumptious playfully delicious meal. If I could give it 6 stars, I would. The blue cheesecake with crostini and fig jam was out of this world. As unique a tasting cheese appetizer as I've ever had. The empanadas were fresh and lovely. The short rib was moist as moist can be...the bacon topped bread pudding along side it was perfection. The fresh pasta with wild boar was delectable and mild but complex and superb. Both desserts were splendid and paired perfectly. The very sweet chocolate cake and the more creamy tart cheesecake. With 2 glasses of wine and 20% tip it was $150. Worth every penny and then some. The innkeeper, Rob, greeted me warmly and carried my bag up to my room -- spacious, clean, bright, with a magnificent river view. Such a gorgeous building. Staff all very friendly. Restaurant to die for. First night the exquisitely talented Chef Hunter served me salmon that had been smoked over maple chips and basted with a maple glaze. Superb wine list. Second night was a steak salad with the most flavorful tomatoes I have ever tasted. Fresh herbs from their garden garnish most dishes. And sensational desserts! Breakfasts were amazing: you request a time to have your choice of coffee delivered to your room and then a half hour later, you saunter into the restaurant where your breakfast is waiting - first day I had coddled eggs (absolute perfection) with buttery, crunchy toast fingers, and the next I ordered shirred eggs. Some might call it a polite Faulty Towers, but I'd say it's more like a bed-and-breakfast without the breakfast. If you can get past that reality, you'll find the Carleton Heritage a well-appointed and historic building whose rooms have almost all of the amenities you would expect in a good hotel at rates usually cheaper than Ottawa. On my last visit, the outdoor temperature reached minus-40 degrees Fahrenheit during the night and I remained warm and happy in my room after a decent dinner in their small restaurant. It's a cozy and relaxing place even though you might expect John Cleese to pop up at the front desk.

We had a terrible smell in the coffee bar area the first night, I'm sure it was a dead something, they took care of it right away! Charging extra for the in room coffee is very cheap! Come on!! The foot stool in our room has seen better days, it was FILTHY! There's old and there's need to be replaced, the patio chair covers are disgustingly dirty and old. I'm sure they're at-least 30 years old. Small details like updating visions and tub stoppers (brown and disintegrated) can go a long way. We had a private parking spot next to our cabin and STILL got charged parking fees. That's a bit ridiculous, for the price everyone pays there is plenty that should be included. Ice to get the park pass for free, we used it daily. I'm not sure I'd recommend to anyone, unless they got it as a gift.
