Horrible Service -- Extremely Disappointing for a Supposedly Luxury Resort…read more We planned a very special dinner at Portofino to celebrate my father's 70th birthday. When we arrived at the resort, we were specifically encouraged to use the Dreams app to plan our stay and see which restaurants would be open each day. We did exactly that. On our first day, we reviewed the restaurant schedule in the app and planned our dinners accordingly. Portofino showed that it would be open on the night we wanted to celebrate, so we planned everything around it. We followed the dress code, got dressed in formal attire, and even arranged a babysitter for my nephew because children under 13 are not allowed. This was the only night we had available to celebrate as a family, and we made all of these arrangements specifically based on the schedule Dreams provided in their own app. When we got downstairs, fully dressed and ready for our celebration, we were suddenly told that Portofino and the other scheduled restaurants were closed and that the resort had changed the itinerary for the day. Instead, they were offering an outdoor buffet on one of the hottest days of our stay. There was no advance notice whatsoever. If guests are specifically told to use the app to plan their stay, what is the point of having an app or publishing a daily itinerary if the information isn't reliable? We understand that occasionally changes may be necessary, but guests should be notified--especially when the resort is encouraging them to make plans based on that schedule. It felt as though the resort simply changed its operations based on whatever worked best for them that day, without considering how those last-minute changes affected their guests. What made this even more disappointing was management's response. When we explained that this was my father's 70th birthday, that we had arranged childcare, followed the dress code, and planned the evening based on their own app, we were simply told that restaurant schedules are "subject to change." No sincere apology, no attempt to accommodate us, and no effort to make the situation right. Our family spent well over $6,000 for four nights expecting the level of service advertised by a high-end resort. Plans can change, but luxury hospitality is about communication, reliability, and how you take care of guests when something does change. We chose Dreams expecting first-class service for an important family celebration. Unfortunately, the way this was handled was anything but first class. For the amount this resort charges, we expected considerably better communication, customer service, and consideration for its guests. This is our second time staying at a Hyatt Inclusive property, and both experiences were equally horrible between this location and its sister property. They are both terribly managed and many of the employees are miserable and very unfriendly. We won't be staying at a Hyatt Inclusive property every again

Clean hotel, cleanliness is held to a high standard (Guadalupe ) And of course, we gotta recognize the Multiple people that made it all possible. These people were very very attentive: Symi? She's part of the overseeing staff of the restaurants- very top notch , she just really showed personal attention as she took care of the 45 people in our group Luis orozco-- this guy will serenade you, not only is he entertaining but hilarious too! Barcelo should definitely recognize talent and have this guy as host. Betzabe martinez, Eunice-- don't know her last name, Fernando Catalan, Carlos Catalan, Miguel Hernandez best bartender and of course the best chef ever Saul Flores aguirre, what a great chef!!!!!!! But you can only get that kind of (beautiful) effect by having multiple levels at the property. I took my mom to celebrate her 70th birthday and we had a great time; but her knee started bothering her after two days. We had a room with view to the ocean that was lovely but with a lot of stairs and no elevator, unfortunately. It was too much for mom after two days of stairs everywhere. The atmosphere of the hotel is quiet, great to relax. The food is good, and the staff is friendly. A special shoutout to Rocio, Avelino, Raymundo y Manuel. The beach is clean but not one you can really swim in because of the high tide.

If we'd been there longer, it seems like there are a lot of activities on the resort, including a couple of nice beaches, worth checking out. When we were ready to leave the resort on excursions to town, the nearby ruins, or to the airport, the hotel readily arranged inexpensive transport with very nice drivers. The only change I'd make at Las Brisas would be to add several dozen more fans to the lobby and bar, as it was almost unbearably hot as we waited for a ride back to the airport. If you're looking for accommodation in Huatulco, Las Brisas is definitely worth considering!

As a matter of fact, the grounds are so big that they need to run a constant shuttle service around to get from point A to B. It took me a little while to get used to not being able to just walk to wherever I wanted to go. If you don't see a shuttle after a few minutes, don't worry call the front desk and one will be quickly sent out to meet you. The staffing was very nice and accommodating. The location is gorgeous. My room was located above a cliff over looking the bay. The rooms are spacious with equally spacious washrooms and with outdoor balconies. Lunch at the buffet was delicious, not all that great for dinner. But dinner at the other restaurants on site, where you needed a reservation, was outstanding.

At first, from the staff of the lobby, bars, restaurants, housekeeping shuttle drivers... are up and down with their services. I guess it depends on the individual. Most of their English is very poor, therefore the communication is slightly difficult. Some of the staff are plain rude; like for breakfast, at the grille, we asked scramble eggs, even explaining with hands signs, the girl start laughing at us, it felt she was mocking at us. Then the head chef passed by, she fixes her posture, and he translated for us. Then she made our dish (horrible, overcooked). Believe me, we didn't go back to the grille. None of the restaurants open on time as per their schedule. In the morning when you are ready for the pool or the beach, the towel service are never there. Sometimes, customers self serve themselves by going behind the counter. Twice, it was windy, therefore the parasols flew into the pool. None of the workers did anything about it, and again customers will put back the parasols themselves back. The shuttle drivers, the bartenders, waiters and waitresses are excellent. Housekeeping are not consistent with their work. There were always towels missing or toilet papers. The hotel itself is humongous and beautiful. The room are spacious but it is not bug free. This morning, a cockroach was found. In the washroom, there is an ant nest getting bigger and bigger despite of me cleaning it. The pools and the beach are beautiful, but it's not spacious. To get a spot, you need to come early morning between 6:30-7:00 to reserve a spot with your lounge chair and towel. The food of the hotel are good. Sometimes at the buffet, some dishes are soaked in the salt. The burger/hot dog grille is excellent. On the 7th floor, there is an Italian restaurant, is splendid and the food is delicious. Also on the 7th floor, there is beautiful lounge with wine tasting every night. Plus, there is a square with hammocks hanging. It's pretty cool and relaxing. Activities are dull. They have dance classes which are very mediocre. The activities by the pool are awful. But I did enjoy mole tasting and learning the history by Darwin, the manager. At the lounge, there is presentation of cutting champagne bottle or sparkling wine bottle with a blade. It's awesome. At the dinner, at the buffet, most of night, there are various dance shows which are entertaining. Overall, there is a lot of room for improvements. Hopefully, with the this type reviews, the hotel will take the criticism and fix their problems.
