The rooms are large, clean and comfortable. It's a very large hotel but not obvious from the outside. You are literally next door to historic churches and a 10 minute walk to the train station. The owners and staff are very nice and like family. It's great to support a locally owned business here. You are steps away from everything in Sittard and if you have a car, park in the very nice underground (Interparking ODA Parking) I've reviewed recently. The daily breakfast is nice as well. I loved their coffee and croissants. But the best part was returning from work to be greeted with a smiling face to ask me how my day was. The cafes and restaurants nearby are great as well. I can't wait to return and re-visit this area on holiday.

On second night I was awoken by water dripping from above and ran to front desk at 23:00 hours. They ultimately placed me in another room after determining it was bath water from room above me. Yuck. It took a short time to pack up all my items and move but the night was ruined and I did not sleep well at all. Instead of lowering rate, they charged me the full amount for both nights. In addition, the small room they moved me to had issues with shower allowing water to leave enclosed area (bad design) and I had to use my towels to dry up water.

Yes,…read morea unique set of circumstances, but it was not the circumstances that soured my perception of the Tulip Inn; it was the customer service and cleanliness of the hotel. Let me start at the beginning. My good friend decided that it would be fun to bring a group up to the Netherlands in order to visit the Mondial Megaclub. Being ever the lady that she is, she recommended that the ever increasing in size group stay at a cheap hotel, as not to impede upon the privacy of my flat. When I arrived at the Tulip Inn, the air was thick with tension. The online reservations did not go through. Although confirmation numbers was given to the credit card holders, there were no available rooms. The huffy hotel clerk emerged from the hotel office with a solution for the group...a older group room. Desperate for someplace to sleep and freshen up, the group acquiesced and took the room. I accompanied them. The room looked like a military basic-trainng style bay. Three sets of Metal bunkbeds with shoddy sheets and a wobbly table were the extent of the amenities available. So you would think that the hotel would charge a lower rate for a lower quality room? Guess again. Two free drinks were availed rather than a refund. At the bar we were greeted by a bartender who was rudely eye-molesting one of my girlfriends. In the beginning of the review I mentioned a one-eyed bartender. Why is this relevant? With one eye, your peripheral vision isn't all that great. You are forced to look directly at the things that you focusing upon. And focus upon my girlfriend the bartender did. When asked to stop, this began a litany of innuendo based quips...just in time for our cab to arrive and take us to the club. At the end of the evening, we returned to our room to discover that one of the beds had semen stained sheets. To add insult to injury, the front office was closed. Thankfully we had more beds than we needed and were were not forced to handle the dirty sheets. The bathroom had rust stains in the shower and the sink dripped incessantly. No breakfast was included in the rate. However no offense was taken. At this point in our adventure with Tulip Inn, forgoing breakfast was for the best.

Set in a historic renovated windmill, just outside of Maasmechelen and 10 minutes from Maastricht…read moreby car. It has an on-site gastronomic restaurant and modern accommodation with free Wi-Fi. The beautiful windmill is listed as a national monument and can be visited for free.  The restaurant serves Italian, Mediterranean dishes as well as tastes of world cuisine. There is also a wine bar with an extensive list of regional and international wines where the Italian cuisine can be enjoyed through daily dishes. Throughout the week a normal breakfast is served. Cakes, pastries and desserts are homemade. Good location!
