We stayed in this lovely hotel in Lauterbrunnen in early March. The rooms were charming and unique, so unlike the large chain hotels. It was clean and the bedding was SO comfortable! Our room had a good sized balcony with table and chair and absolutely breathtaking views of the mountains. The location is excellent, just a few minutes walk to the train station as well as the gondola to ride up the mountain. Also close to shopping at three coop store. Breakfast was included and was excellent. Coffee and tea available 24/7 in the lobby. Staff super helpful. Would definitely stay again! read more

Loved our stay at this property in Lauterbrunnen. Not sure how/why, but we ended up with the 007 (James Bond) suite. Smelled faintly of cigarette smoke (rooms are non-smoking, but they allow smoking on the balconies), but I just kept the window open and that helped. The room was clean and spacious with a beautiful view of the falls. Usually we don't like to eat at the hotels where we stay (unless we have to), but the restaurant here was top notch. Liked it so much we ate there 2 of the three nights we were in town. I had the deer both nights, absolutely scrumptious). Their pizzas seem popular, though we did not have one. Super conveniently located across the street from the train station and next to the cable car up to Murren and next to the Coop Grocery (easy to pick up snacks or a bottle of wine). Not for the faint of heart, though. Dragging our bags up the hill to the property was a job - thankfully we were up to it, but if you're booking keep your fitness level in mind (or maybe the hotel offers some sort of help? I didn't ask.) I would definitely recommend staying here. If ever back in Lauterbrunnen, I would stay again. read more

We loved our stay at Hotel Silberhorn! We stayed here as a part of our honeymoon, and the staff really went out of their way to decorate the room for us and make us feel extra special. We booked the Valley View - Superior - H100 room, which was perfect for us. Definitely recommend booking one of the updated rooms, they are very comfortable and modern with incredible views. We chose this room because it was on the second floor (third by US standards) and without an elevator we thought this was the best option for us - the view was still spectacular and our legs thanked us for not having to go up additional stairs after long days of hiking. This hotel is very close to the trains to Interlaken and Wengen as well as to the gondola to Murren/Schilthorn. The included breakfast was good and we really enjoyed the dinner we had at the restaurant. Overall and excellent stay and we will definitely return! read more

We had a fantastic stay at this hotel. The rooms were very large for the three of us and the bathrooms were very nice and clean. We got a superior room with a few of the mountain and a beautiful patio with chairs to sit outside in their garden.There is no air conditioning and there is no elevator however they are putting one in for 2024. It was cool enough without air conditioning however my clothes that I rinsed out in the room would not dry. There is a hostile down the road that has a washer dryer. We ate at the restaurant two times and had a delicious meal. We tried fondue. All and all, a very memorable experience. The staff was lovely; the breakfast and breakfast room was fantastic as well. read more

This review is for the restaurant. On our last night in Lauterbrunnen, we opted to have an authentic meal of rosti and heard this was a great place to do such a thing! We started with a salad, which was good. Then we each had a rosti that we definitely should have split, however, because they are so big and so filling! But it was delicious, nonetheless. read more

Checking into this hotel was a delight. One of the owners greeted us personally, and helped carry our luggage to our Holz100 Valley View Superior room. . . With the world's most amazing breathtaking view of the Lauterbrunnen valley. The room itself was elegantly remodeled in ash and spruce woods, greys and whites and the bathroom, to my delight, had both a rain-shower and a deep bathtub worthy of Lush bath bombs and bubble bars. Did I mention the view? The room also featured a typical Swiss bed, two twins with individual bedding pushed together for both individual comfort and snuggle potential. There was plenty of storage for our luggage and clothing, as well as a couch and sitting area, and a super comfy chaise lounge in front of the expansive window, balcony, and again, stunning view. The service here was wonderful, quick to be tidied room, and a fine included buffet breakfast, with cold meats, fresh eggs, and a variety of breads and pastries with local jam and honey to choose from. The restaurant on site (see separate review) is also very nice, with friendly service and typical French dishes, one of which, Raclette, is highly recommended and a good deal! I cannot adequately describe the sheer awe with which I regarded the sheer majestic VIEW from my room, pics will be included, as it was breathtaking both in snow and in sun. read more

Welcoming staff, gorgeous location... and the strangest hotel room of my life. My boyfriend and I splurged on a room here after reading reviews and seeing lovely pictures online, some of very modern rooms and some more traditional but still warm and tasteful. Imagine our surprise when we found ourselves instead not in a regular room for two, but what seems to be some kind of apartment from the 1970s tucked in the very back of the hotel, with a bathroom window that puts you eye to eye with people smoking in the parking lot. My best guess is that we literally got the last room and this one isn't usually in rotation. With the exception of a big grey fingerprint on my pillow and a mystery stain on the couch pillow, the apartment is clean--just bizarre, and offputting. There are four rooms to the suite, one of which is creepily locked off; there is a kitchen but with big signs not to use it; there is a goldenrod orange tile bathroom fit for the Brady Bunch; the telephone is hidden behind the the TV, and we never would have found it except the TV was unplugged; there are literally no amenities, not so much as a bar of hand soap or a box of tissues. Not the romantic suite we were imagining. I asked the woman at the front desk why the room looked different from the pictures--she said it was because we used booking.com and they only book the older rooms. So, be warned! And know that room #23 is more like Austin Power's ersatz ski bachelor pad. Trying to have a sense of humor about it, but bummed to have spent this much money on a room that is uncomfortable and unpleasant and to have missed the chance to have a special night here instead. read more

I can't say enough good things about this hotel. It is a great location - a quick walk from the train station, near the bus stop and cable car, and near the main street of shops and restaurants. The service was excellent - everyone was friendly. The room itself was great. We had a balcony with an incredible view of the alps. It was lovely to spend evenings sitting here and admiring the view. We ate hear for breakfast (good selection and quality) and dinner (excellent pizza). This is a great place to stay! read more

The Von Allmen family that owns this hotel was welcoming and accommodating. They gave us a wonderful apartment room that was much more expensive than what we had paid for. The views were magnificent and there was a balcony with a walkout onto the hillside. The included breakfast was very good for continental standards. The dinner too is good, not any less or more expensive than other restaurants in the town, though I am adventurous and eat everywhere. Baet helped with currency exchange at a good bank rate (incidentally he has a banking background) and is a wonderful host. His mother, a former teacher, is a wonderful lady. As you can tell, we became like family, perhaps since few people stay six nights. The cable car to Mürren runs right past the hotel property and its station is down the till slope on which the hotel is located. The train station is a very short walk as well. The only issue with walking though is that the hotel being atop a steep gradient, getting back from anywhere was physically exhausting. If I return, I will stay here again. read more

This hotel is a gem! ... especially if you are lucky enough to get a room with a view of the waterfall. The owner is so helpful and kind, the breakfast which is included is really good, and the location is ideal--right in front of the train station, is next to the gondola station and busses go along the street in front of it. The short walk up an incline is not that hard, as reviewers have written. The room we got for a family of four had every amenity and was very thoughtfully designed. Very comfortable and clean. Lauterbrunnen is out of this world beautiful, with waterfalls everywhere you look. We are so happy we found this place and put this town on our itinerary. #212 If you're stuck between staying in Lauterbrunnen or Gimmewald, choose Lauterbrunnen if it's the off-season. Lauterbrunnen is easily accessible to Interlaken (about 20 minute train) and there is a small market, laundromat, and a few restaurants that are open during the off-season. Whereas walking through Gimmewald, while a really picturesque town, is pretty empty because most of the people who run the stores and restaurants aren't permanent residents. In particular, the Hotel Silberhorn is a standout among the few hotels in this small village. The Hotel Silberhorn is perched just above the train station and takes about a brisk 2-minute walk to get there. Accomodations are modern with free wi-fi throughout the hotel, flat-screen tv's, and each room opens up into a nice balcony with a breathtaking view of the Lauterbrunnen valley. A hot breakfast is served in the morning with sausages and eggs, although they do seem to run out of hot food early on (and it's not replenished). When I stayed, their restaurant was closed for the season. However, the nearby Hotel Oberland is open for dinner if you're looking for a quick dining option. Staff here is very friendly and made my stay in Lauterbrunnen very pleasant. Bed is comfy. Room was very clean. It's not cheap to stay here at about 90 swiss francs per night. But, it's SOOooo worth with it for the view. When you wake up in the morning and you're facing the Swiss Alps and breathing in that fresh mountain air...it's no wonder why the people who live in this village seem so happy. read more

We have been guests for several times now. This hotel is a real gem. Owned and run by the von Allmen family for generatioms you feel like home from the first minute. No surprise that it is member of the Small Elegant Hotels. The hotel is located in Lauterbrunnen. This is a very good starting point in summer for hiking and in the winter for skiing. The famous places Wengen and Mürren are very close. And not to forget the top of Europe - the Jungfrau. If you prefer shopping, Interlaken is not far either. The hotel itself is built in a typical Swiss Chalet style. That means a lot of wood and a lot of personal touch. Most of the 30 rooms have been renovated recently - and the other ones are charming in its own manner. The food is typical Swiss as well. Continental breakfast and dinner can be included. We always choose breakfast only so that we can have dinner at the restaurant instead at the dining room. The restaurant serves cheese fondue (of course), good meat or vegetarian dishes if you like - all typical Swiss meals. I personally prefer the Bourguignon meal. You start with a fresh salad followed by a big plate with your choice of meat and sides, different sauces and fruits. During the Swiss indian summer you should try the seasonal venison dishes. I can fully recommend the Silberhorn. You can expect a personal touch for a reasonable price. read more

The hotel rooms are very comfortable each with a nice balcony. The view is magnificent with a lovely garden full of flowers and facing a tall mountain & valley. Breakfast is included. There is a large pleasant breakfast room, a charming dining room, a garden patio for good weather, and a warm & relaxing cafe & bar. Breakfast is plentiful with juices, fresh fruits, good breads & rolls, eggs, sausage, cold cuts & cheese, yogurt, cereals, milk, & coffee & teas. Dinners are delicious. The service is friendly. It is convenient to many site seeing points. It has several water falls within walking distance. We stayed 6 nights and had a wonderful time. read more

Great hotel, great service,fantastic location. My wife and I made this the final stop on our 10-day jaunt through Europe and this was by far our favorite hotel on the journey. We stayed in one of the Holz100 rooms - very modern and comfortable accommodations with sweeping views of the surrounding cliffs, mountains, waterfalls and farms in the area. Our room also contained a balcony which was perfect for watching the sun set and rise over the valley. Breakfast was included with our stay and featured fresh fruits, vegetables, cheeses, meats and breads. The location is great; not to far from some of the beautiful scenic hikes in the region and close to a grocery and several decent restaurants in the area (for great a great cafe, visit Airtime cafe down the street!). It's also less than a 5 minute walk from the train station, Bank, grocery, and post office. The hotel also contains a restaurant. Be sure to reserve a table in advance, as we noticed the place can become very crowded on days when other restaurants in the area were closed. (Try the Chamois, hunted by one of the family members of the owners of the hotel- insanely good!!). All in all we were very pleased with Hotel Silberhorn and look forward to staying again the next time we visit the area. read more

There is a nice little grocery store within walking distance, so we had stopped by there for ingredients to make salad and sandwiches on the balcony of our hotel. Lots of hiking and outdoor activities nearby. As hubs put it, "so magical! It doesn't even look real!" The views are breathtaking! Stayed here on our first night in Switzerland to go up the Schilthorn the next day. We were in a family room with view of the Staubbach Falls (in a building across the main hotel). Decent size for 2 adults and 2 little kids. Very awkward shower area though. The strong water pressure seemed too much for the window curtain and shower curtain that they both got blown toward me, making it difficult to shower without either one stuck to me. Wifi was included in room rate but quite spotty. Breakfast room at the main building with views of the mountain certainly added appeal to an otherwise mediocre food. Breads, jams and cold meats and cheeses, fruits, yogurt, juice and coffee. Another point worth noting here is their restaurant. It's got a nice ambience to it but food is bland. Spaghetti bolognese came with a lot of meat but hardly any sauce. Not worth the almost 30 CHF nor the calories. The ice cream with "surprise gift" dessert for kids were not good either. It's just basically vanilla and chocolate ice cream (not equal to a good size scoop) in a small treasure chest plastic box with a small dolphin and a popsicle tattoo for 5.50 CHF. We found the prices at this restaurant to be a little higher than at Piz Gloria. I'd say go somewhere else. read more

This is way overdue but we stayed here for a night last August in the suite overlooking the waterfall. Fantastic room, clean, and the grounds were well taken care of. The restaurant was fantastic! I have been to Lauterbrunnen twice now. I am all about mixing it up but when we come back we will for sure be staying here again! read more

We came here for our honeymoon. The view of the valley and waterfall from the room was beautiful. The room was comfy and homey. Breakfast had good selections. Only big issue was that the rooms don't have coffeemakers in them so we had to pay 4 franc every time we wanted a cup of coffee. read more

Excellent experience. Lauterbrunnen is so beautiful by iteself but this hotel made our stay even more pleasant. It's super close to the train station. Our room which was more of a suite had the breath-taking views of the snow-covered mountains. The breakfast (which was included) was great. The breakfast room had superb views as well. We had dinner at the hotel once and the food was great too. When I go back to Switzerland (which I will hopefully very soon), I will go right to Lauterbrunnen and will definitely stay at this hotel again. The staff was very friendly and helpful. read more
