(We mostly stay in cabins or…read moreairbnb) but since we have a timeshare points expiring soon, we decided to come stay in this hotel and it turns out to be a great stay. One of the main reason that made this a great stay is that they have a full kitchen with all cooking essentials, since a lot of restaurants in the alps have short opening hours, plus they are mostly just very salty for our taste. In general, it seems to me that all the cold countries generally have more salty food comparing to the US. It was just good to be able to cook and eat in our room with family after being out cold for the full day. We come with a group of five that our rooms comes with 2 2-joint double beds and a sofa bed. So it was very spacious for us even with all the suitcases we have. The hotel also has a sauna, a pool, a American size pool table and a gym. The robes are available from the front desk, while the sauna room and shower are in the a co-ed nude zone, (very European for me.) All the amenities areas are very clean and well kept. And they even have a room for your gear storage which they lock it at night. It was a very comfortable stay with great views and amenities, about 5 to 10 min drive to ski lift. And another 5 min walk from a grocery called billa, 3 to 5 min walk from ski rental. Very accessible and convenience. Would recommend this place if you are in this area. Tips: don't dry your washed clothes outside on the balcony or you with get a frozen piece of cloth next morning. XP (drying rack is also available inside the room)

Great luxury appartments located near the ski lifts. We…read morestayed in the 3 bedroom appartement. Appartement: The flat was spacious and very nicely appointed. The kitchen is fully equipped. The furnishings throughout the house are stylish and upscale. The layout was nice and there's secluded private spaces. There are floor to ceiling windows throught which fill the appartment with light. Great for when traveling with friends or another family or couple. Bath: There where two bathrooms and both where nice and luxurious. Nice stone floor. There where plenty of towels. The one shower had a leak in the shower glass so water drooled onto the floor and into the hallway everytime one took a shower. This problem must have existed for a while because the door is already bent from the water and the wood floor is caving up. The door is very hard to open and close due to that. Breakfast: Breakfast is available and is good. Nothing to crazy but good. You can order eggs anyway you want or just boil one yourself in this super cool boiling machine. The bread variety is very good. There is cheese and sausage. Fresh cut fruit and jams. There's a premium cereal bar with great ingredient as well. The service at breakfast is great as well. Sleeping: The beds are super comfy and even the sofa bed is large and actually usable for sleeping two people. Two of the bedrooms where a bit tight but still totally fine and super nice. Location: The location in Zell am See is good. You can walk to the ski lifts and there's small grocery store not far away. Driving to the bigger stores isn't that far either. There is a parking garage which is a little tight but not to bad. Ammenities of the house: There is a ski room, washing mashines, a sauna which we didn't visit and a nice lobby to hang out in. In summer you can also sit outside on the patio which was snow covered in the winter. Service: Service was always nice and upon checkout we got a bag with water bottles and brochures.

The cosy farmer's cottage built right into the lobby gives a special atmosphere. The rooms we got are really small but - again - nicely furnished (old wood used as decoration) and well maintained. But too small for 5*. Basic WLAN is free - more speed is costly. I cannot comment on the restaurant's quality yet - dinner will be served later. One thing is really unacceptable: no ventilation on the toilet. €240 per room incl. breakfast and dinner is "steep" ... I will comment on the restaurant separately.

The room I stayed in, is the only one like it in the hotel. What sets the room apart is that it has a private balcony. Other than that, it was a lovely standard room. I was with an organized trip of travelers (65 total) and the staff prepared avery delicious American style Thanksgiving meal. It could not have been better. The remaining evening, 4 or 5 course meals, all delicious. The bartender at the hotel bar was phenomenal. She worked hard. Everybody on the staff was always very friendly and willing to help. The wet spa was great, and I allowed myself to be talked into jumping in the ice cold pool. That was an experience. I highly recommend this hotel. Thank you.

Our first trip to Austria…read more Klaus & Veronique and their family who own/run this hotel are excellent hosts making you feel very welcome and take a great interest in your holiday. We loved the way they dress in the traditional dress to serve dinner. We paid a supplement for a room with balcony and we were not disappointed. The room was huge, in fact it was a family room so plenty of room for the 2 of us. There was a large bathroom with bath and shower but the shower was only half way up the wall so you couln't stand up in it! The food was excellent too, buffet breakfasts which always included some hot food like bacon and scrambled eggs. You could also make up a packed lunch with the rolls, meats and cheeses, fruit and some wonderful Austrian wafer biscuits. Cartons of juice were provided also. Tea and cakes were served 3 times a week. The evening meals were superb, always a choice, delicious salad bars and I have never tasted broccoli, cauliflower and green beans so good in a sald. The chef has been with the family for over 10 years so that speaks for itself. If "Spatzle" is on the menu, try it. It is Austrian pasta with pan fried onions. The hotel has a cozy lounge area, beautifully furnished where you can mix with other guests. We met some really nice people on this holiday. As we were there the start of the season, Kitzbuhel was a little deserted at night so we just stayed in the hotel most nights. I got a real taste for Weiss beer (wheat beer) from the bar! The hotel also has its own wine cellar and Klaus hosts tours for a wine tasting evening. The hotel is situated less than 5 minutes walk from the centre in a nice quiet area. The railway line runs right next to the hotel and trains so run through the day and night but it never bothered us one bit. Would thoroughly recommend the Edelweiss. We had a fabulous holiday, made new friends, and we have lots of wonderful memories
