I would say the big reason our review is getting a three is because almost every employee we encountered could use some training in customer service. They have a certain way of doing things at this hotel which is fine, but much better received when said with a smile, especially when the answer to your question is no. Usually in a four or five star property the staff try to accommodate guests. We didn't find that to be the case during our stay and would have enjoyed the no's and our stay there more had there been more yes's and the no's at least presented with a smile. Also the massage from the spa was not good, I paid extra for a deep tissue massage, it was like a pressure point massage not enjoyable. And the sheets and towels on property are hard and scratchy not soft as you would expect at a nice hotel such as this one. It's also strange that you cannot get two keys for your room, another no.

The selection is very limited and the food was stone cold. I mentioned the temperature and they reheated the same plate ... It came back to the table overcooked and flavorless. *I did have a very lovely waiter though who was courteous, apologetic for the food, and brought me a dessert on the house and tried to make things right (the lemon pie was to die for!) * :) I would not recommend this hotel overall for quality/price/local authenticity. The room smells like a toilet and the carpet, walls, desk and doors have splashes of some sort of brown liquid. I don't what to know what it is... Very disgusting to look at. I spent $40 on a 10 minute taxi ride from Malpensa Airport since the hotel shuttle refused to pick me up. The booking site clearly states "Free shuttle service, available on demand." After I called to request this "on demand shuttle." I was told that even though I was within their shuttle hours of operation, I needed to reserve the ride 24hrs in advance. WHERE does it state 24hrs in advance??? Once I arrived at the hotel, the 1st receptionist apologized and informed me that all I needed to do was call the hotel and the shuttle would have come to pick me up on their next run (every hour.) Yet the 2nd receptionist insisted that I needed to give them 24hrs notice. Suddenly the 1st receptionists COMPLETELY CHANGED his story and said "on-demand service is the same as 24hrs notice. I really don't know, I've just arrived here at the hotel." UNPROFESSIONAL AND UNACCEPTABLE. The 2nd receptionist threw a fit! Refusing to write down my name for the airport shuttle for the following morning even though it was available and already reserved for one passenger. The van can hold 6 people. What is the problem??? She began stomping around and raising her voice, I was finally able to at least get her to write down my room # to reserve a ride. RIDICULOUS! PLEASE STAY SOMEWHERE ELSE!! UPDATE: During my check-out. 2 receptionist were at the check out desk. One other girl whom I didn't interact with yesterday and the 2nd girl from yesterday. The first girl was very pleasant, greeted me with a smile and took my key. The moment I walked away, I heard the 2nd girl say to her colleague "that is the stupid crazy girl from yesterday..." the other replied "ahhh, pazza..." I immediately turned around and received glaring looks and snickers from both receptionist. I had to wait in the lobby for 45 minutes and they made my experience VERY UNCOMFORTABLE. I can't believe how UNPROFESSIONAL this place is. You need to do some new training for your colleagues.

I went with my girlfriend and another friend that decided to come at the last minute. The staff, was incredibly accommodating and gave us a suite that could take in all of us. As a bonus the suite had an amazing balcony overlooking lake Como which literally stopped me in my tracks every time I walked past it. The only down side was that the price for everything extra was commensurate with the initial price of the hotel. All in all though, an amazing place and would absolutely recommend it to friends and family.

Lots of hype about this place, "very exclusive, very expensive, only 24 rooms, best hotel of 2023" etc, etc. Dont believe it and don't waste your time or money here. Also desk staff is unable to tell you there's public transportation on lake Como. They want you to book private boat for thousands instead. Trying to rent a car was made nearly impossible by the front desk staff. For a VERY expensive hotel, reception staff was really strange, and not helpful at all.

The room itself was beautiful, with era appropriate design. The balcony was excellent, comfortable and quite large. There were two outdoor lounge chairs, and a table with two chairs. With all of that, there was still enough room left on the balcony for my morning workout. The grounds are beautiful. And the hotel continues its use of greenery on the balconies to separate areas for each suite. All done tastefully and the plants are all in very good condition. The breakfast buffet is fantastic. An assortment of croissants, made to order omelets, cereal, yoghurts, fruit, excellent cheeses, meats . . . It goes on and on. The staff were quite lovely and extremely helpful. In truth, I was prepared for a bit of pushback when my wife and I showed up - we are gay. Not even a blink of an eye from anyone. Unfortunately, these days that is a welcome relief. And the spa - out of this world! Massages, lovely jacuzzi/hot tub, Finnish sauna, Turkish bath and more. If you are a guest the hotel there is a small fee for the use of the spa. The pool is lovely. It sits right next to lake Como. Jumping in was easy, if you have the stamina for cold water. There is a small cafe at the pool with food and drinks. The staff brings your order out to wherever you are sitting. The village of Maltrasio is filled with beauty and lovely people. The hotel is on the shore and the village goes up the hill. Both my wife and I had the risotto Milanese with osso bucco, a house specialty. It was DELICIOUS!!! The risotto was a perfect mix of creaminess while still maintaining a firm bite to the rice grains (some sort of magical alchemy I'm sure). The flavor was superb. The osso bucco was fork tender, rich in flavor, and oh so good. We had a local from Milan with us and he gave the risotto two thumbs up, slurping and chomping his way happily through his plate. We all finished the meal by digging out the marrow and having it on a crusty piece of bread, as the locals do. Food was excellent, as was the friendly staff (who spoke a good bit of English). It was just a sort walk and we enjoyed an outstanding meal. The service was great and the food was too. This is a new property with a modern look. We all had different items and they were very good. After we finished our meal my wife and I asked if we could see a room. The host took us to one of only 9 rooms in the new property. It is very modern with large room with a couch and a large bathroom. They have a large deck facing the water. I think we will try a room in this hotel on our next visit.
