The Merida store is beautiful, housed within a 1903 townhouse. The location has an onsite residency, spa, and cafe, in addition to the perfumery shop! I smelled several of the perfumes from their Mexican collection/line and picked one to take home that I loved, but they offer more than just perfumes - handmade honeys, marmalades, chocolates, home goods, decor, and more! I left with my perfume, a couple of marmalades, and a pink peppercorn honey! The service is wonderful - friendly, patient (I tried just about every perfume from that line), and helpful! Overall, just a wonderful and unique boutique shopping experience in Merida!

Upon entering, I felt as though I had entered a dream... I scheduled a deep tissue massage which was heavenly... The approach from the first floor to the massage room felt like a mysterious walk to an upper tower... Before my massage I was treated with a set of cucumber, cream cheese, rose, & lemongrass tea sandwiches as well as tea which was included in my massage. The masseuse was excellent. Great memorable experience. The young lady at front desk from Los Angeles was super friendly and welcoming.

We were so fortunate to have stayed at the Gran Hotel of Merida. It's a stunning hotel centrally…read morelocated in Merida. It's historically cool and I mean that with all the respect in the world. Several times I sat in one of the antique furniture pieces on the second floor and pinched myself. Then, seconds later, I thought if Douglas Fairbanks or Fidel Castro or even Hemingway stayed on the same floor or in the same room we stayed in. If I had the ability to listen to the walls speak, I would be like that Michael Jackson meme with the bucket of popcorn listening intently to all the chismas - gossip - stories that the walls would be willing to share with me. Our stay spanned a week and our room on the stock floor had a balcony and many decorative historical pieces inside. I think there were at least four clocks that no longer were working and a armoire with a mini fridge. The room was perfect for the both of us and the AC worked flawlessly. We never saw more than a handful of other guests which was fine. I would highly recommend the Gran Hotel it's a masterpiece of history and is a true hidden gem in the middle of Merida.

The moment you walk in, there is so much peace and tranquility even though on the main road (calle 62) there is a lot of noise with just the cars driving by. The VIP hotel only has 6 suites however we still had an outdoor swimming pool with lounge chairs. The rooms are quite spacious, clean, and comfortable. The super tall ceilings and decor of the hotel truly transport you back to the hacienda days in Mexico. I did partake on ordering drinks poolside since its so hot/humid out there so thats also an option. I didn't see many other guests there since people are usually out on their tours or walking around getting familiar with the city. The concierge are super helpful providing ideas/suggestions on things to do or would recommend places if you ask. One day it was raining and they brought me an umbrella to me right before I walked out for a tour. I would recommend adding a small fridge to the room just so guests can store water. This is a boutique hotel you definitely want to enjoy their well maintained facilities and take advantage of everything offered.

We were disappointed the in room safe was broken. The bathroom was well stocked and very roomy. The staff were very efficient. We ate breakfast each day in the small restaurant. No matter where you're from, this is three star hotel at best ......there was was mold all on the ceiling and the walls of the bathroom and we had the "top of the line" Superior Deluxe room. Right, sigh. There's no fan, vent or windows in the bathroom so that's probably why, but it's visible black mold and a lot of it. You'd think they would try to clean the surface and paint over it but nah they want you to know your shacking it up with mold. The furniture was visibly scuffed up and unappealing- If you care. They had a flat screen TV and there's chairs outside of each room door and the rooms were massive so yay for space to do a cartwheel and burpees The pillows were nice, the fan and aircon worked there was a mini fridge and a safe, meh. We were here for three nights..too many imo. The front desk was nice and housekeeping request were fulfilled fast. Assuming you stay out of the rooms this place is a gem, the fountains and the pool are lovely but once you include the molding underwhelming guest rooms this place is in the three star hotel category.

When we first arrived, I was cursing at myself for making such a terrible selection for our stay in Mérida. The room was tiny, barely big enough for the two double beds in it, and the bathroom was tiny with a toilet that had a shower wall sitting so close to it, you couldn't sit down with your legs directly in front of you, unless you didn't have legs. Then I realized, that due to our specifications of having a room with a balcony (for the smoker), we just so happened to be put in the room that seemed like an afterthought or an extension of the hotel, only for people they didn't want to come back. (Ha!) The other rooms I had chances to peak in during the daytime, looked much more logical (no walls in front of toilets), spacious and enticing. I slept okay (not great). I'm not sure if it was the snoring bear in the room, or the level of comfort. Maybe the next reviewer will be the judge. I've got my eyes on some other options for next time... Good luck and happy travels, wherever you end up!
