I just had the best weekend stay at Hotel Virrey de Mendoza this weekend with my fiance. We were in town for a wedding and got this hotel for two nights as the wedding was right at the church in the town center and we wanted to be able to walk to everything. The location of this spot cannot be beat. Located in the heart of Morelia, this hotel is perfect. Built in the 1700s, it has that great old decor but with very modern upgrades to the room. We stayed in the suite. It was a corner room with king size bed, seating area, small porch to step out on and overlook the town square - the view was the best part of this room!
I would say the rooms here are very reasonably priced for the beauty and quality you are getting. Our suite was about 2400 pesos per night and this included a "American Breakfast" in the hotel restaurant in the morning (eggs, toast, juice, coffee). The rooms are equipped with a TV, hair dryer, toiletries, and a ceiling fan for the hot summers (I don't believe there was any central air or heat). Staff was very nice and friendly. Most front desk employees spoke English very well so that was helpful for us Americans. The service and food in the restaurant was excellent. We had a chance to go for breakfast as well as cocktails and a snack in the afternoon. Beautiful views, elegant setting and you just really feel like a king staying here. The only issue I had with our room was the loud music/partying from the bar across the street at night. But, it is the center of town and Morelia is quite the party place. So, if you're wanting a nice solid nights rest I would suggest a room in the back of the building. Otherwise, a must visit when in the area and would recommend staying here! read more
