There's a sizable flight to get up to the first floor, where you can get an elevator to the upper floors (or, just take the stairs). If you press a button at the front door, they'll send someone to get your bags so you don't have to drag them up yourself. I love the decor...it's colorful, eclectic, and fun. Really darling. Our room on the third floor had a great view, with doors that opened to the outside (just a railing, no balcony); it was so nice to open them and get fresh air and be able to hear everything happening in the streets below. A couple times was a bit loud (guests in the hallways, motorcycles outside), but I'm guessing that's part and parcel of staying in downtown Florence. The minibar has a decent selection, and the prices are surprisingly reasonable. The bathrooms aren't too roomy, but they're nice. Just watch out for the hair dryer--it'll shut off after a few minutes on high, and you'll have to wait several minutes for it to cool down. I didn't have a problem when I used it on the low setting. The hotel offers a free breakfast from nine to noon. There's a nice buffet and a breakfast room, or you can pay €5 to have it delivered to your room. When you step out of the hotel, you're right in the middle of the Rodeo Drive/Fifth Avenue of Florence, and a quick walk from the Duomo, Uffizi, and more. According to a plaque on the outside of the building, George Eliot stayed there while she was writing Romola--a historical novel set in 15th century Florence.

But the facilities are fantastic. Decorated perfectly, it suits the traveler who is coming through to enjoy the wonderful city that is Florence. We were treated to top notch service from the moment we walked into there. You are not allowed to touch your bags, they have people that will make sure that you don't struggle with that. (The hotel starts on the 3rd floor, so they do what they can to take care of you) The continental breakfast in the morning was fantastic. I still have not been able to find any type of bread that was like what we had in the mornings that was so delicious. I think that has to go for most of the country of Italy... they know a thing or two about their food. Fantastic! Our stay here was only for one night while visiting the beautiful town of Florance... and they were more than willing to help us whenever we needed help. Very helpful indeed.

Check in is promptly at 2 (no luck for us when we got there at 1:32 after a train ride, so we grabbed food while we waited), and the hotel and room were clean, if a bit dated. We had a loft room, and the air conditioning was not great in the upstairs (but we suspect that maybe the cool air turned off when we left the room and only the fan ran). In any case, management brought us a fan after we asked, and when we had to ask 3 times, they gave us vouchers for drinks on the rooftop. Breakfast is included and was a decent variety of items. Pool was clean. Views from the rooftop to the Duomo were pretty spectacular. The rooftop does close promptly at 10, so be forewarned if you head up there later in the evening.

The inclusive breakfast left much to be desired, but if your OK with cappuccino, danish, and maybe some fruit/yogurt...you'll be set. There is a self-serve laundry accross the street which you can leave your laundry and they will do for 8.50 euros a load or you can do it for 8 euros (I recomend you doing your own, just from observing the guy transferring the clothes around). We liked this hotel because it was so close to everything...street shopping, retail stores, mercado centrale, museums, tour buses... The staff was super-nice, and most spoke english too.

The hotel is conveniently located near the city center where there's lots of shops and restaurants and a grocery store, and it's walkable to the train station for day trips to Florence. Also just a few blocks nearby are a pedestrian shopping street and the funicula station. WiFi was free but painfully slow, at times, could not get a connection at all, even just to surf, let alone try to upload photos. My room was above the kitchen and had a balcony overlooking the kitchen's back door and facing the backsides of 3 other hotels. It was a noisy, noisy, intersection, and a add a touring group of teenagers and French tourists to that, the cacophony was deafening. Interior is kind of dingy. We had breakfast and dinners included, which we ate in the hotel. Breakfast was the standard around Italy, platter of meat (ham or salami), platter of white cheese, rolls, cold cereal, yogurt, coffee, milk, juice. Dinners were mediocre, started with American-style romaine salad with tomatoes, carrots, radicchio. We usually had soup to start, which were all very good (pasta e fagioli, split pea, lentil and barley), pasta dishes were forgettable, the main meat and potatoes were unspeakably bad. Service was friendly and efficient.

Pretty good hotel!…read more Rooms were clean and modernly furnished. Bathrooms were huge and bed/ pillows super comfy. Front desk staff was very helpful. Breakfast is included and is pretty good (continental buffet with italian cornetti and espresso) Only issue is that if you're actually touring Florence this hotel is pretty far away (25min by car). Not a problem for us a this was our last night before getting on the road the morning after.

If you are into photography, its a great place to photograph this historic landmark under different lighting as the evening turns to night. The location was very central and the staff very helpful and friendly. There was one incident in particular that impressed me. I arrived in the morning well before check-in time and asked to store my luggage at the hotel and do a quick trip to the leaning tower of Pisa before checking in. I took my luggage to the storage room with the help of the porter and in my hurry, had accidently left a little case with all of our passports and more than 2,000 Euros in cash on one of the shelfs. The highly professional and conscientious porter found it and turned it over to the front desk. What honesty!! The staff was extremely accommodating, including the general manager who took the time to personally make himself available when requested by me. Five stars? I would give this place 10.
