So disappointed. We won't use them again. Our Furnace died in November and we had Fairbairn come…read moreout and look at it the day after thanksgiving. They told us it needed to be replaced and could not be repaired, although the could keep it running for the weekend (very cold out). We ordered a replacement on Monday $6,500 +/-, for a furnace I could get in 2 days for $2500 less. There is value in a local supplier, though, and I was told this was a fair price by an HVAC Pro we trust that lives elsewhere. The Furnace took 18 days (I could have had one from GR in 2) since their supplier (Ferguson) ordered it from the west coast in a blizzard and they were not given an eta. So we waited, with a furnace that we had just been told was too dangerous to run. When the unit finally arrived they installed it the next day, and left, which is when the problems began. The furnace shut down and we could not start it again. They sent their repairman out who spent the better part on one evening and the next day frankensteining our new furnace with parts from the dead furnace. Scott finally came out and realised they had not run the diagnostics required before firing up the furnace. So, 3 weeks after ordering our furnace, and 2 nonsense days on their part, our furnace was finally running. When I spoke to Scott I told him I expected some consideration on the bill. He had estimated an amount but we had already agreed to time and materials vs a set install cost. When the bill came it did not include a discount. I'm not usually a crank but, seriously, 3 weeks and a botched install and nothing? Scott told me he took the discount on the estimate. Not sure if I misunderstood or he thinks I'm not too smart. We have a 1 year warranty and and service contract and hopefully won't need another build for a few decades but this has soured me on Fairbairn

We used to do business exclusively with this company. We needed our furnace repaired and scheduled…read morean appointment. Our appointment was for the early afternoon. The service crew showed up first thing in the morning. As we had prior commitments they said no problem as there was a cottage not far away that they were scheduled to winterize and would be back at the scheduled time. They did and the service was done very well. Techs friendly and efficient. Given the 25+ year age of our furnace they recommended we consider a replacement in the future. No high pressure sell. When we got the invoice we saw that we were billed for 8 hours of labor instead of the actual 4 hours AND we were also billed for the time for the crew to drive from the shop to our house. 30 minutes each way so another hour which was NOT disclosed in the bid(not an estimate---a bid). Furthermore, the Travel Time charge was the same as the hourly repair rate which is steep! When I called to complain the owner did cut 4 hours from the bill, refused to apologize for the mistake, and defended the pay for the drive charge. I strongly suspect that the lady who owns the cabin that was winterized payed for "Travel Time" too!! We took the tech crew advice and replaced our furnace the following year but went with a different company....I drive by Fairbairns Store frequently and the only thought that pops into my head is "Never again"
