My wife was about to go on maternity leave and was very excited to have cool multi-colored hair…read morethat she couldn't get away with at work. She had her hair dyed in unusual colors for many years and never had an issue with a stylist before. She had previously gone to Rebel Rebel a few times for an old stylist who doesn't work there anymore. She had a bad customer service experience with Erica a few years ago when that stylist was out, but since she specializes in unusual colors my wife decided to give her another try. She went twice to get her hair lightened and prepped over the summer so it could go from red to blue/green. She showed pictures of a few hair colors she liked, all going for blue and green. A little bit of root color was okay but the point was getting some cool colors so she could really enjoy how she looked on her time off. On 12/27 she went in there to get her hair done. Halfway through my wife started getting worried because she saw a fair amount of dark brown dye in her hair. Maybe that's what Erica thought my wife had wanted from the photos she gave, but my wife had stated multiple times she wanted it to be mostly blue and green. She gave Erica the benefit of the doubt because sometimes things look different by the end. My wife hoped it would come out better once she got home and it was fully dried but it ended up a dark brown with some green highlights and barely any blue. If my wife wanted it dark brown why would she spend so much money over the summer getting it lightened over time when so much of it was covered up with dark color? She didn't want to argue because Erica didn't seem to be in a place to take several more hours to fix it since it's time consuming to fix hair that's just been darkened and she mentioned to a co-worker trying not to have any big jobs before her vacation to Florida starting the next day. I saw my wife in tears over this thing she had spent almost a year talking about. She called around to find someone to attempt to fix the dye job by adding in a lot more color (and a lot more blue so it wasn't just green) and managed to get an appointment with a stylist at another salon who took great pains to lighten it and get some blue in there. I felt so bad to see her so upset that I decided to call the owner, Crissa. Crissa wasn't very responsive to our feelings and gave me a bit of an attitude. She asked to talk to my wife but she was in the early stages of labor and was thus not in a place to talk about it. She said they don't do any sort of refunds as a general rule (though we know other clients who have received them) but if we talked to Erica maybe she could do something for us and said she would call us later that week. That would have been fine but Erica never even bothered to call us to hear about our experience. As a business owner myself I strive to make my clients feel better about a situation even if there isn't much I can do about it financially. Between three appointments to try to get this look, she spent well over $700 and I think the courtesy of a phone call was warranted.

It is a welcoming and funky space and there is a strong sense of collaboration amongst them. Collectively over the years I have been "dreaducated" on synthetic vs real extensions, maintenance to keep my hair and locks healthy. and the importance of using a colorist rather than bleaching my hair on my own. Going there is always a positive experience with great service, conversations, and products. Dreads are so personal and Rebel Rebel respects and honors each clients unique vision. Dread Mohawk? No Problem! Rainbow Dreads? No Problem! Just getting started and want Peek a Boos? No Problem! Wherever you are in your hair journey, I can assure you Rebel Rebel is the place to go!

I've been coming to the shampoo bar for years and I'm always very happy with my haircuts…read more However, I cannot stop raving about the wonderful job Andrea did on my hair for law school prom. She had me come in a few days before the event to figure out what color extensions to buy, and she picked a color that matched seamlessly. The day of the event, she only had to look at the picture I showed her a total of three times and she recreated the look better than I could have ever expected! I am still impressed by how quickly she clipped in the extensions and perfectly replicate what I envisioned in my head for that day. Not to mention, she's very friendly, accommodating and easy to talk to - which makes the time fly. It's been months since the event, and I'm still receiving compliments on how great my hair looked. This is THE place to go, especially for special events!

Well...you're going to get all that AND so much more when you leave Shampoo Bar. Friday was my very first time coming to this salon. I made an appointment with the salon owner Andrea, and said I wanted to go red. When I arrived I shared with her the exact color I was looking for and she very lovingly talked me out of it. She said why don't we start here and if you're not happy we can move a little further, but let's give this a try first. For the record, I wanted red that would have made me look like Ronald McDonald had she listened to me and done what I wanted. She colored my hair, highlighting, adding tone, dimension, depth, magic, mermaid tears and unicorn smiles. When she w as done I couldn't get over what my hair looked like. There truly is a difference between seeing a stylist and seeing an artist. Andrea Ippolito is an artist. I didn't walk out of her salon, I floated out on a cloud of sexy vibes. I went out with a friend that night and he said 'tell Andrea she hit a home run.' Fast forward a week later, the color is still fresh, sexy, glamorous and I am GRATEFUL I listened to her and that she advised me to let her do the right thing with my hair. I am so happy!!!!!! Yes the salon is in Philly, but honestly, she is so worth it. Have you ever felt stuck? Or wanted to reinvent yourself? She can do that for you. The compliments are still rolling in, who doesn't like to hear 'wow you look great, I love your hair!' Who doesn't enjoy hearing that every day??? Go see Andrea, she will change your life.
