I visited this salon based on a recommendation from a friend and I was happy with the styling done by Marcos . Very attentive staff right from the entry to exit. The lady who did my hair wash had such good pressure , it felt like a good head massage and relaxing. I did not want to alter the hair length but wanted some good layers and Marcos did an excellent job with the cut. Gato who is the owner is amazing to talk as well. I did once not have the haircut done as per my expectation and he immediately jumped in to address it and help fix it. Great experience during my first visit. Made an appointment same day and was able to easily find the spot. I had arrived a little early and they were nice enough to offer coffee while waiting on the comfortable seating. Definitely getting the upscale vibes with the hometown feel for this salon. For my cut the stylist was great in listening to my wants as well as giving good advice on what would be best for. You can tell she was a perfectionist and took great care and detail into her work. I visited this beautiful salon for the first time today and I can't wait for my next appointment. The decor is simply elegant with touches of brick walls, sleek work stations and modern chandelier lighting. I booked my appointment through text message which I loved. You can also call or book an appointment online. I was nicely greeted by Gato upon my arrival after our hellos he gave me hand sanitizer and a temperature check. He introduced me to my stylist. I met my stylist Jessi and we clicked right away. I came in for a cut and a single process color. Jessi and I discussed my hair rountine, the state of my hair and arrived at the perfect shade of red that I wanted. She started out with a wash explaining what products she was using and why they were used. I loved that their wash stations have comfortable recliner seats and your legs go up, it a nice touch especially for short people like me. Next she cut and shaped my hair. We had a nice flow of conversation. When she went to mix my color Gato and Marcos, the owners, checked in on me and offered me something to drink. Right before Jessi did my color she offered me a disposable mask so I wouldn't stain the mask I arrived in. I thought that was thoughtful as I was okay getting dye on the mask I can in with. Touches like this make place stand out and I enjoy going to businesses that care about their clients. While I waited for my color to take I was offered seating in their garden area which is beautiful and very visually artistic and again offered something to drink. When it was time to rinse my hair the perfect shade of red emerged and Jessi proceeded to blow dry and style my hair into perfection again explaining what technique and products she was using. I was completely happy with the results and the whole experience. I did purchase some products which I'm looking forward to using. Jessi explained to me how to use them and that some are even refillable, which makes it even better. I didn't feel pressured to buy anything and all my questions were answered. Checking out was easy and Gato made sure to again go over how to use the products I purchased. When I called to see if they had any open times, the man who answered was really really nice as I was being wishy-washy about cutting my hair at all! I got an appointment and he said he'd call me if anything sooner came up. When I got to the salon, I was greeted with kindness, not the kind of "ok wait here" you get at other places. An amazing, uplifting experience! I've had my share of salons but this salon tops it off as one of the best!! I am from Delaware and my boyfriend told me about this salon that him and his family have been going for 15 years. I was greeted by Gato, he checked my temperature, and sanitized my hands. He offered me a drink. He talked to me about what I was getting done and moved me over to get shampooed and that's when I met my amazing stylist Marcos. Not only did he do my cut and color, he educated me on how to keep my hair healthy. Marcos made sure I didn't leave the salon until I was happy. He is full of energy and lots of fun. The process of taking an appointment itself was very complicated and the individual who answered the phone almost sounded like they didn't want new customers. Disappointing given the reviews otherwise. Edit : I see the response from salon below, what they have said is not true. I didn't ask for a same day appointment and when I asked them to suggest a date they were really vague and mentioned they are very busy with customers. Not to mention the extra long hold. I have been going to Me on 2nd for about three years. I showed up as a walk-in, with the intention of getting a bad hair cut (from a different salon) fixed. Erica listened to what I was going for and worked with me to get it right. It took a couple visits to fully fix the bad haircut, but we got there. I have been going to her ever since. [I get fade starting from a zero and faded into about four inches on top.] Recently, I was hesitant to get my haircut due to COVID, but Gato, one of the owners, explained to me all of the procedures they were following and what protocols they expected clients to follow. When I arrived, they had me use the hand sanitizer, took my temperature, and everyone was wearing a mask. I could see all the employees taking this extremely seriously and disinfecting everything, which made me feel more comfortable. read more

This is by far the cleanest salon I have ever been to. I was greeted immediately and offered a beverage. My stylist was Anthony and he was delightful. I described the issues I was having with my hair and how I wanted volume, layers, and face framing pieces. He addressed all of my questions directly and offered suggestions for my future hair care. His cut was lovely and he styled it to my liking so I could leave the salon feeling great. I have been using their homemade shampoo and condition ($17/bottle- bring the bottle back for refill for $12) and it's wonderful! My hair feels light and smells delicious. I moved to Philly two and a half years ago, and have been trying to find a salon that I click with. After going to 6 different salons, I was starting to lose hope. And then I found Me on 2nd! From the moment I walked in, Gato made me feel right at home. Genuine and hospitable, he poured me a glass of wine and took the time to talk to me and get to know me. Marcos was my stylist, and he gave me hands down the best consultation I've ever had at a salon. He took the time to teach me about the science of my hair, and how I should be changing my routine and products. He listened to my vision, and while I originally thought I wanted to get color treatment to get the results I was looking for, Marcos actually advised me not to, and to instead get a conditioning treatment. That's right, he downselled me! He genuinely wants what he thinks is best for each client, it's not about making money to him. Results: Marcos brought life back to my hair! The conditioning treatment transformed my color into the rich, glossy finish that I was looking for. The cut gave body to my long hair. Been coming here to get my hair cut and styled for 2 years and I really love this place. Owned by the couple that works in the salon Marcos and Gato offer an urban chic setting to come and relax and get pampered. You walk in and are welcomed by Gato who offers a chilled glass of wine or cold bottle of water on a hot day, or warm tea on a cold day. The place is pet friendly and you'll find their beautiful pup, Hercules, just chilling in the salon. Erica usually cuts my hair and she is very detail oriented and has always done a nice job. She's a real miracle worker, I come in a hot mess and by the time she is done she my hair looks great -- clean and styled! She's great about asking questions and checking her work as she goes to make sure you are feeling good by the time she's done. One thing I really like about this salon is that they are very good at working with your hair and making sure their work fits your style. They aren't trying to sell you on a particular look or products or push you to be avant-garde. If you want a classic clean masculine look, they can do that. If you want more flair or a crazy color, no problem! read more

Walked in with no appointment and a dry, tangled mess of hair. At first, my plan was to have around 7" cut off to make my hair manageable. Gato, who by the way is very kind and patient, asked me an important question - "Do you love your long hair?" The truth is, I do. I didn't really WANT to cut it off, but I was very sick of having a tangled rat's nest. I also wasn't ready for a huge change. To give some perspective, my hair is nearly down to my bum. Well, great news! They had a way to revitalize and ostensibly save my hair while making it more manageable. He explained what the Milbon treatment had to offer, and I figured it was worth a shot. Nearly two hours later, after two wonderful ladies (Jessie and...gosh I feel like a jerk for forgetting the other girl's name but she was great too!) painstakingly combed out my knots and applied the treatment, my hair feels healthy again! I couldn't stop touching my hair the entire way home. I've got a follow-up appointment next week where I'll have a trim, and my hair feels the best it has in ages. In summary, I can't recommend this place enough. Everyone was kind, knowledgeable, and patient. The salon itself is clean, bright, and beautiful.
