I don't get my hair cut very often,…read moremaybe 3 times a year at most, mostly because I can't decide on one hairstyle and am forever growing it thinking I want it long then heading to the hairdresser for a right chop. Deirdre has been great in styling my hair to my needs. I decided to go natural for a few months and stop straightening my hair, she cut it for wavy and the odd straight day. She has also not been shy to advise me against certain styles and suggest others. She listens to me in the consultation and is the only hairdresser (bar one of her stylists) I have come across who actually listens to me and does what I want. Now, she is on the pricey side, €50 for a cut, which I didn't think was that bad, but friends tell me that they wouldn't pay that much. I find that the styles she has given me, though, grow out quite well and therefore I don't need to go back for months on end. My mum uses this service every 8 weeks or so for a cut and colour. My sister also goes to Deridre for a cut, only about as often as me (4 months-ish) and we have all found ourselves going back to this salon with a greater loyalty than to any other.

I knew the place is a bit upscale, so upon entering I already had expectations of what my service and the final product was going to be like. The staff was great, I actually had a few people working on me as my stylist attended to other customers at certain stages of my colour and cut. Everyone was friendly and hospitable, but it wasn't over the top. About 2.5 hours later, I had a new do, a fresh colour and was very happy with my service and my results. Go to the till to pay with my gift card and the cashier tells me that their credit card machine has not been working all day and that I'd need to pay for the service in cash. She pointed me to a bank machine so I could take out some cash to pay for the service. I was not only upset but frustrated. You check in with reception when you come in and pay at the same counter. You'd think they'd have a sign up saying that it was cash only due to credit card issues or warn you before your service, as I'm sure I'm was not the only one redeeming a gift card. Walked out 255 euro down, that I was not intending to spend, and still have a gift card for 200 euro. Talk about a great service being ruined in 30 seconds.

The staff was very attentive and friendly, had a nice scalp massage during my shampoo, was offered beverages at several occassions, although my stylist was a bit blunt and cut a few inches more off than we discussed (cutters do like to cut) and didn't style my hair the way I would usually wear it I liked it. I walked out with a chic new style, and the best fringe I have ever had in my life that no one has been able to replicate. 55yoyos for a haircut... worth it.

Firstly, she got a GREAT haircut. She's fussy with her hair, and was very happy. Second, the staff were friendly and polite, and didn't chat in that tiring, airy meaningless way. The coffee was great too. I winced a bit at the €55 bill but apparently that's what it costs for a woman's cut and style in Dublin (same price as Peter Mark). Only criticism is that it was slightly messy (not unclean, just messy) inside, but it's a smallish place and was manically busy, so probably to be expected. The reason I am leaving this review is because I sent an email regarding my concerns and nobody got back to me which is so unprofessional. I went in looking for a fringe and a few long layers and my hair was pretty long to be told my forehead was too short for a fringe. I did explain twice that I had one before and I loved it but again I was told it wouldn't work so I accepted that and was told then that I would have 2-3 inches taken off my hair as I expressed more than once I wanted the length left and that was fine as I knew it needed a little off it but there was way more than 3 inches taken off. I was told I would have long bangs at the side but I don't. It just looks all uneven in the front when it's straightened. It's far too thinned out and Sharon explained she wasn't thinning it but adding layers underneath so that it would sit nice when I blowdryed it. I also explained the one thing I didn't want was my hair cut straight across and that's exactly what I got. There is nothing positive I can say about my hair. It is ruined and I have a wedding in 6 weeks. I am now going to have to spend a lot of money to get hair extensions in. I didn't say anything when I was there because I was trying not to cry when I saw the end result. My partner just gasped when he saw it. I can honestly say I trusted that going to your salon and paying €112 that your head stylist knew what she was doing. I'm beyond upset. They tend to be good at listening to you (important, and certainly lacking in lots of hairdressers) and on giving you advice about the style you want and other hair related questions you might have. Prices are fairly standard: not too cheap but not too expensive either and the staff are usually very friendly. Annoyingly though there is no getting around their insistence that you must have been allergy tested in the last year by them before they will dye your hair. I've been caught out by this one more than once, and yes I know its for my own good but I want my roots done NOW!! *throws tantrum*

The Salon, which opened about two years ago, is situated right across the road from Scoil Mochua Aghards Primary School and has lots of easy parking both in front of the Salon and across the road near the school. It is relatively bright and airy but certainly with chirpy bright staff. I had made my appointment earlier in the morning and was greeting almost immediately on arrival by my charming stylist and colourist, Iseult, but better know in the Salon as 'Issy". There was no delay and she spent a lot of time discussing my colour and what she thought would be best suited to my hair type - it was an extra bonus that the Salon happens to use the same brand of colour that I usually get. Colour on.....getting lost in up todate magazines..texting...usual relaxation mode when having a hair do...then I was taken to the basin to wash off the colour and have a good conditioning treatment, then Iseult discussed the cut that she proposed and gave my tresses ample attention before blow drying in a lovely new shorter style. I was delighted with the overall look and think Iseult did an amazing job - a warm, friendly and helpful stylist that I would highly recommend - especially for her total professionalism. I was also delighted with the price €55 for a cut, colour and blow dry - now who could argue with that! But of course I did spend about €28 extra on a bottle each of Joico shampoo and conditioner which Iseult highly recommended to keep my hair in condition and retain the colour. They also do a touch up colour, or masking as it's known, for the good value price of €30 which would do a grand job in hiding those dreaded grey hairs for a few more weeks in between main colour treatments. Better still they appear to do a roaring trade in wash and blow drys - but is it any wonder - total cost €15. Will I be changing Hair Salons?....I just think I might.....but I will wait and see how my colour lasts and if the new shampoo and conditioner were worth the extra few bob! Top marks to Iseult though for her professionalism and attention to detail - I hope the management value her as an employee.
