I purchased the parts myself and was told that the shop will not replace parts with customer purchased parts! That was little disappointing! I have been taking cars to Houser's for well over 25 years and trust them so much more than any other auto shop in Brookhaven. The man reason I would say is the fact that they will tell me sat x y have to be fixed but z, well that could wait a while but is going to have to be done someday. For example, I recently had my inspection done. Bill told me the tires barely passed inspection but he knows I do not use the car that much. When I told him I was soon going to go from PA to NC to visit family with it, then he recommend a full tire change. In addition, I have had 2 other auto shops in Brookhaven do unauthorized or asked for work, like oil changes, then cause an argument when I'd see the bill and refuse to pay for it. Houser will never do any work that you do not ask for or authorize. They will call you 1st to discuss if they find something you did not bring the car in for. 100% honest. read more

After moving back to PA from Virginia I was in need of a trusted auto repair shop. I called Housers during business hours and nobody picked up. I called again a few days later and attempted to get my car in for an oil change and tire rotation to gauge the quality of the service and staff. I spoke to a gentleman who seemed slightly agitated(I just assumed I caught him on a bad day) and he told me he could get me in "at some point" for service. When attempting to pick a date with him I asked him to briefly bear with me as I pulled up my calendar on my phone. The gentleman told me that the shop goes through 24 cars a day and that he doesn't exactly have all day. I was also told that I shouldn't get my hopes up for an appointment anytime soon. I asked him when his next available appointment was and he gave me a date about a month out. I told him that wouldn't work for me and he told me to call back when it would work for me. In short, it was an awful first impression and an enormous red flag. I won't ever use their services and was beyond disappointed. Another thing I've noticed is that they perform a ton of maintenance on local law enforcement vehicles. It gives me a sense of reliability but something that I see as negative is they almost always have a police vehicle parked right near the road. I perceive that as an advertising tactic, "hey look at us! Police get cars serviced here so you know we are the best!" I hope that is not the case and that's just their designated law enforcement spot, but I can't help but think that because of how it's strategically parked as close to the street and business sign as possible. It gives me a sense that they are taking advantage of situation. Though it is not inherently negative, it was another red flag for me. Reviews from neighbors and friends who are customers are mixed. I know a few people who have been with them for years and are satisfied. I also know a few people who consider them untrustworthy. I use another shop in Brookhaven and I am beyond satisfied(I will not name this business on this review out of respect for this business) I do not recommend the business at all but I would recommend you formulate your own opinion here and I hope your experience is better than mine. This was an absolute One star experience but I am leaving two stars. The second star is benefit of the doubt because I never had the opportunity to have my vehicles serviced at this shop. read more

We were on the highway and our tire started making noise so we drove to this shop after googling what was around us!! And we are so happy it was this place !! They had us up and running in no time !! After 15 years of taking our family cars to Housers, they violated our trust. They advised us to scrap our car because the repairs were more than the car was worth. They offered to make arrangements for scrap yard to tow the car, and paid us a small scrap fee. Several days later, we found that they kept the car, fixed it and it was on sale in their lot for several thousand more than they paid us. What should have been a trust relationship was anything but. Came here on the recommendation of a coworker. Spoke with Bill over the phone and described the issue I was having. He had me drop the car off in the morning, and by late morning/early afternoon, the car was ready for pick-up. Bill and his crew diagnosed the issue and fixed it quickly. Everyone was friendly, and I did not feel as if they tried to hassle me. I also received a call from Bill as to what they planned to do to fix the issue, before starting. I know many mechanics who fix the issue without a word, and then charge hundreds of dollars. This place was not like that. I would recommend to others. read more

Longtime customer. Twice in a year now I had to take my car elsewhere after spending my hard earned money for it to be "fixed" here. Countless issues with costs of parts as well. Never have I felt so slighted by a business I supported for so long now. Was even told I'd be refunded for a unnecessary repair to my vehicle that only made my initial issue worse. I dropped my car off for PA inspection (it came from NJ) and needed it back by 11. They called me around 8am first thing to tell me it needed work that would take more time. They gave me the option to come another day. About thirty minutes later, they called me back to say they were able to get the part they needed and would have it back to me by 11. And they kept their word! They always call promptly and get my car back to me on time, and charge fairly (my husband is a car guy and he always looks it over for me). I was SO thankful to have my car back so I could make my doctor appt and get to work AND to not have to go back another day and be without my car again. read more

I first went to Houser's when I moved into the area because the police cars were always there waiting to be serviced. I figured if the State Troopers trusted them I could too. I have never been disappointed with their work or their honesty. They even went so far as to try to talk me out of having them do a job that someone else had botched so that I could take it back and have the original garage fix the problem.(An emergency at work caused me to go somewhere else.) Not too many places are going to turn down $500, but they were willing too. I cant recommend them strongly enough.. read more
