I rented from MHA in January 2020 when I left my DV situation. They were great and helped me complete my paperwork while I was away on vacation and actively leaving my spouse. When I arrived in Missoula, I drove straight to the office and was able to sign my lease for a two bedroom apartment at Russell Square. They were unbelievably helpful and the apartment was nice, though the kitchen was small. My child and I made it our home and it was great. We stayed beyond our lease and would have stayed longer, but moved due to safety concerns regarding my spouse knowing our address. We moved into Orchard gardens which is run by Tamarack PM due to a limited income. This was the worst and tamarack was a nightmare. I missed how easy and on top of things MHA was for paperwork, rent, and maintenance; and generally all the help they offered. Absolutely unconscionable! My sister was on the waitlist for 2 and 1/2, finally invited to start her application, did so--- weeks of grueling paperwork, forms, big hoops to jump through, all of which she did in a timely fashion. She was given her voucher, signed it, returned it , found an apt within the program... all set to start moving when she was informed (2 days AFTER signing her forms, 2 weeks before deadline) that there was no funding available!!! So heartbreaking! Did MHA really just not know there was no money? Why lead people on, send them on wild goose chases just to pull the rug out from underneath them at the last possible moment. MHA should be deeply ashamed of themselves!!! - the people working there have a responsibility , along with the board, to make sure they are disseminating the necessary information to accurately inform people of their chances at securing housing! I'm SOO disappointed for her and furious with this faulty system!!!!! read more

I rented a two bedroom apartment from these frauds for an entire year. They charged $875/ mo for a 740sq ft two bedroom apartment. If that wasn't bad enough, the walls are paper thin, they only provided a single parking space, and both the buildings themselves and the landscaping around them were thrown together on the cheap. If I had to describe the entire apartment in one phrase, it would be "A trailer with a nice paint job". After finally handing in my 30 days notice to the manager, who treated me with disrespect from day one, attempted to charge me for the entire last month's rent of $875 even though our lease was up on the 10th. I fully expect them to attempt to take our entire $900 deposit despite us taking very good care of the apartment the entire time we lived there. Please avoid this place at all costs. There are plenty of nicer apartments out there to rent from nicer people for less money. Avoid The Missoula Housing Authority in its entirety. Given the choice of renting from these clowns again or living in the college dorms, I would pick the dorms any day of the week. read more
