The HCC system is so upsettingly poor in education, I am a transfer student from another university and I was advised by Mr. Hill who was a great at advisor with eight of my courses, unfortunately I cannot say that for my business principal course with I strongly advise you to do your research when attending this community college Some of the professor care about assisting their students to succeed while some do not and are just out to obtain a paycheck. Ever since my enrollment with this college, I have experienced IT matters with most of the online classes ( Online courses with Pearson's and McGraw Hill, learning should not be this hard and frustrating that you want to toss everything in the trash bin! I was taking an online gov course over the summer to transfer for my state university. I logged on when the semester started and saw nothing was due for a week so I was going to wait till a few days in to start on the work and such. They dropped me from the class and took my money, because I was not "active" in the class. (3 days after the summer mini semester started) I asked for at least my money back and they refused. So essentially they stole my money, and now I have a dropped class on my transcript forever. Thanks HCC! read more

This location is okay. Not good, but not bad. It was obviously a former office building that has been heavily repurposed into an HCC campus, but done so in a way that seems to work pretty efficiently. I wouldn't have ever chosen this as a campus to take a class at, but there weren't many options when it came to a class I needed. Most of the central student services (advising, computer labs, etc) are in the middle of the building, with ancillary services and classrooms scattered in a circular formation around the perimeter on two different floors. The deli and lounge are tucked away in a corner, but have reasonable prices. There's ample parking, at least in the evenings, and they seem to be pretty well-connected with UH Victoria's Katy campus to ensure that local students can transfer over to a four-year university program without having to leave home. This is a community college. I can't speak for the entire HCCS system, and I can't speak for all of the classes. In my experience, it has been hit or miss. Some of my professors make me want to strangle something, while an equal number are exceptionally well educated with rounded teaching methods and a stimulating, educational class setting. My personal reason for attending HCCS is that I cannot afford out-of-state tuition at a university here, and don't want to be up to my eyeballs in student loan debt. HCC is a professional community college, I just wish the worker in the computer lab where more professional. Some of the professors are helpful, while others don't really care whether you pass or fail your course. I'm not from Texas, and I like it better here in Katy,TX But if I were to refer a friend or family, I would choose the "HCC Central" Location because it's simply better. The Katy,TX location is too much of a hassle because I have to struggle to get a good parking spot by coming to class Two Hours early in the morning. Not to mention a few of the racist students here too. Most students here don't really try to make friends, it's a campus where 90% people are anti-social. read more

The Katy campus is one of my favorite campuses. I can always find a place to study with a plug. This campus has a cyber lounge. I do get lost sometimes because the building has the rooms setup in a circular formation. It is easy to lose your sense of direction. I only took two classes but the teachers are okay. Most of the classrooms have projectors. I wish they had a food court. There are plenty of restaurants nearby. This campus has plenty of parking. T is far but I wouldn't mind coming back read more

I started at the Katy campus in 2014 and will finish here. May 2018 please hurry up so I can graduate and be done with this community college. First off the student who works in the computer lab room are always rude and think they know it all. Second the advisors half of them don't know how to advise or know what's going on even when looking at your student file. I literally have to go to another campus to get a 2nd opinion on classes. But thank god I found someone who knew what she was talking about and closely explain to me what was going on with my classes. I have been to several HCC campus, west loop, stafford and spring branch. Stanford and Spring Branch has been the best when it comes to advising. When it comes to financial assistance Mrs Rosa Rojas has been the the best. She is so friendly and compassion and I greatly appreciate her. She is located at the Katy campus. Last but not least, the entire mathematics I will give a 0 stars. If anyone is taken any math or elective just know that if you are making straight A's on your quizzes/test and when you take the final and for some reason you do not pass that final your grade for the entire semester will be an "F". Ridiculous right! I am one of those students who my average was a B in the class and my mind just went blank and I failed the final, yet it bought my average down to a C. Guess what the professor gave me an F for the semester. Totally unfair what this Math Dept is doing. I will take further action so this rule can be reinstated, very unfair to those who come to class everyday and try their hardest to pass the class. But thank god that one of the advisors informed me that it was ok I didn't need to class anyone due to some electives I have taken.
